I perceive myself as a positive force in society through the way I choose to treat others, the standards I hold myself to, and the example I set in my everyday actions. For me, being a positive influence is not about recognition it is about consistency, integrity, and making the right choices even when no one is watching.
As a student-athlete, I am constantly in environments where character matters. On the field and in the classroom, I understand that people are always paying attention to how you carry yourself. I make it a priority to lead by example by staying disciplined, showing respect, and encouraging those around me. Whether it is supporting my teammates, staying focused on my academics, or holding myself accountable, I try to create a positive impact through my actions. I believe that small, consistent choices like showing respect, staying humble, and doing the right thing are what truly define a person’s character.
My awareness of others has also been shaped by my personal experiences and my community involvement. Through volunteering at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participating in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive, I have seen the importance of compassion and understanding. These experiences taught me that everyone is facing something different, and it is important to approach people with patience and respect. I have learned that being a positive force means being willing to support others, listen, and treat people with dignity regardless of their situation.
Current social norms often place a strong focus on comparison, image, and external validation, especially through social media. There is pressure to fit in, follow trends, or present a certain image to others. However, I have learned the importance of staying true to myself and not allowing those pressures to define who I am. Instead of focusing on comparison, I focus on growth, discipline, and purpose. Choosing the moral high ground means doing what is right even when it is not the most popular or easiest choice.
For example, in situations where others may choose negativity, disrespect, or shortcuts, I make a conscious decision to respond differently. I choose to stay focused, avoid distractions, and surround myself with people who are working toward their goals. This mindset has helped me stay grounded and continue growing as both a student and an individual.
Looking toward the future, I plan to continue being a positive force through my career in entrepreneurship. My goal is to build businesses that create opportunities and give back to my community. I want to create spaces where people feel supported, motivated, and encouraged to grow. Through my future businesses, including an apparel brand, sneaker resale business, and a sports training facility, I plan to promote discipline, confidence, and positive values.
I also want to continue being a lifelong learner. I understand that growth does not stop after high school or college. I am committed to continuing to learn, improve, and develop myself so that I can make a greater impact over time.
Overall, I believe being a positive force in society starts with self-awareness, integrity, and the willingness to make the right choices consistently. By staying true to my values, supporting others, and continuing to grow, I plan to make a meaningful and lasting impact both now and in the future.
Williams Foundation Trailblazer Scholarship
One of the most meaningful ways I have taken initiative to support underserved communities has been through turning service into something personal, consistent, and intentional. While I have been involved in organized efforts through my church, I have also made it a priority to go beyond simply showing up by creating impact through my own actions, leadership, and mindset.
Through my church, I have volunteered at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participated in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive. These experiences exposed me to the real needs within my community families struggling to access basic necessities like food and school supplies. However, what stood out to me was that service is not just about providing resources, but about how you make people feel in the process. That realization pushed me to take a more active role in how I serve.
At the food pantry, I began focusing on more than just completing tasks. I made it a point to engage with families, offer help beyond what was expected, and create a welcoming environment. I also stepped up by helping organize, supporting others who were volunteering, and making sure things ran smoothly. I approached it with the mindset that even small actions like showing respect, offering encouragement, or simply being present could make a meaningful difference.
In addition to organized service, I have taken initiative in my everyday environment, especially as a varsity athlete. I recognized that younger athletes often need guidance, confidence, and someone they can look up to. Because of that, I made it a personal responsibility to mentor and support them. Whether it is helping them improve their skills, encouraging them after mistakes, or making sure they feel included, I have worked to create a positive and supportive space. This is especially important for those who may not always feel seen or supported.
What makes this meaningful to me is that it is not something I was told to do it is something I chose to do. I saw a need for support, encouragement, and leadership, and I stepped into that role. That mindset is what I believe makes someone a trailblazer not waiting for opportunities to lead, but creating them through your actions.
These experiences have inspired me to think bigger about how I can continue to serve underserved communities in the future. As I pursue a career in entrepreneurship, I plan to build businesses that create opportunities and provide access to resources. My long-term goal of opening a sports training facility is directly connected to this vision. I want to create a space where young athletes especially those from underserved backgrounds have access to mentorship, training, and development opportunities that can change their future.
Overall, my journey has shown me that making a difference starts with taking initiative, being consistent, and caring about others. I am committed to continuing to build on these efforts and creating a path that not only leads to success, but also creates opportunities for those who need it most.
Scorenavigator Financial Literacy Scholarship
My personal experiences with finances and financial education have come from real-life responsibility and observing how money is managed in my household. Growing up in a single-parent home, I have seen firsthand the importance of discipline, sacrifice, and making smart financial decisions. My mom has worked hard to provide for me while also continuing her education and earning her Master’s degree. Watching her manage responsibilities and finances has taught me that financial stability comes from consistency and strong decision-making.
As I have gotten older, I have started to take on more responsibility with my own finances. I receive a monthly allowance, and I have learned how to manage it in a way that reflects my values and priorities. Each month, I make it a point to tithe at church, which is important to me because it reflects my faith and commitment to giving back. I also set aside money to save, understanding that building financial stability starts with consistency. In addition, I use part of my allowance to put gas in my car, which has taught me responsibility and accountability for my own needs.
These experiences have helped me understand that money is not just about spending it is about planning, discipline, and making intentional choices. I have learned how to balance giving, saving, and spending, which are all important parts of financial management. Even at this stage in my life, I see how small habits can build a strong foundation for the future.
I also recognize the importance of continuing to grow my financial education. I understand that earning money is only one part of the process knowing how to manage, invest, and grow it is what leads to long-term success. This is especially important to me because I plan to pursue a career in entrepreneurship. Building businesses requires financial knowledge, strategy, and the ability to make smart decisions.
In the future, I plan to use what I learn about finances to build stability for myself and create opportunities for others. I want to develop businesses such as an apparel brand, a sneaker resale business, and a sports training facility. To do this successfully, I know I will need to understand budgeting, reinvesting, and managing profits effectively. I also want to build multiple streams of income and create long-term financial security.
Beyond personal success, I want to use financial education to give back. I understand that not everyone has access to financial knowledge, and I want to be someone who can share what I learn. Whether it is mentoring others, creating job opportunities, or leading by example, I want to help others build a better future.
My goal is not just to make money, but to build a foundation that creates lasting impact. I want to be financially independent, support my family, and create opportunities for others. I also want to show that with discipline, faith, and consistency, it is possible to build something meaningful.
Overall, my experiences with finances have taught me responsibility, discipline, and the importance of planning ahead. While I am still learning, I am committed to growing my financial knowledge and using it to build a successful and impactful future.
Future Green Leaders Scholarship
Sustainability should be a priority in every field because the decisions we make today directly impact the future of our environment and communities. In business and entrepreneurship, sustainability is especially important because businesses have the power to influence how products are made, how resources are used, and how people think about consumption. As someone who plans to pursue a career in entrepreneurship, I believe it is my responsibility to build businesses that are not only successful, but also environmentally responsible.
In my future career, I plan to create an apparel brand, a sneaker resale business, and eventually a sports training facility. Each of these areas has an opportunity to promote sustainability. The fashion and sneaker industries, in particular, are known for contributing to waste and overproduction. Many products are made quickly, worn for a short time, and then discarded. This cycle has a negative impact on the environment, and I want to be part of changing that.
Through my apparel brand, I plan to focus on quality and purpose rather than fast production. I want to create products that are built to last and encourage people to buy with intention instead of constantly replacing items. I would also explore using more sustainable materials and ethical production methods to reduce environmental harm. My goal is to build a brand that represents not only discipline and confidence, but also responsibility.
My interest in a sneaker resale business also connects directly to sustainability. Reselling sneakers helps extend the life of products that already exist, reducing the need for new production. Instead of contributing to waste, it promotes reuse and smarter consumption. I see this as a way to combine business with environmental awareness while also teaching others about value and responsibility.
In addition, when I open a sports training facility, I want to incorporate sustainable practices such as energy-efficient equipment, recycling programs, and responsible resource use. I believe that even small decisions like reducing waste or conserving energy can make a difference when they are done consistently.
Beyond my businesses, I want to use my platform to influence others to think more about sustainability. As a student-athlete and future entrepreneur, I understand that people pay attention to what you represent. I want to promote the idea that success and responsibility can go together, and that businesses can make a profit while still protecting the environment.
Sustainability is important because it is about protecting the future. It is about making sure that the next generation has the same opportunities and resources that we have today. If businesses continue to ignore environmental impact, the long-term consequences will affect everyone. That is why it is important to take action now and make better choices.
Overall, I see sustainability as a key part of my future career. I want to build businesses that are not only successful, but also responsible and forward-thinking. By focusing on quality, promoting reuse, and making conscious decisions, I plan to reduce environmental impact and be part of a positive change. My goal is to create a future where success is measured not just by profit, but by the impact we make on the world around us.
Hines Scholarship
Going to college means more to me than just continuing my education it represents opportunity, growth, and the ability to overcome obstacles to create a better future. As someone who has grown up in a single-parent household, I have seen firsthand the challenges that can come with limited resources and increased responsibilities. However, those challenges have not held me back they have motivated me to work harder, stay focused, and pursue higher education as a way to break barriers and build a successful future.
One of my main goals in college is to continue my athletic career while also focusing on my academics. As a varsity wide receiver, football has taught me discipline, resilience, and how to stay committed even when things are difficult. These lessons have prepared me to handle the challenges of college and push myself to succeed at the next level.
Academically, I plan to pursue a degree in business or entrepreneurship. My goal is to gain the knowledge and skills needed to build successful businesses, including an apparel brand, a sneaker resale business, and eventually a sports training facility. I want to create opportunities not only for myself, but for others in my community who may face similar challenges. I understand what it feels like to have to push through obstacles, and I want to be in a position where I can give back and help others succeed.
Growing up, I have watched my mom overcome challenges while raising me on her own and earning her Master’s degree. Her example has shown me that obstacles do not define you, your determination does. That mindset has shaped how I approach my goals. I do not see challenges as setbacks, but as motivation to keep pushing forward.
College is also important to me because it represents a chance to grow beyond my current environment. It will allow me to build connections, learn from new experiences, and develop into a leader who can make a positive impact. I want to be surrounded by people who challenge me to be better and who share the same drive to succeed.
Ultimately, what I am trying to accomplish is bigger than just personal success. I want to build a future that creates opportunities, gives back to my community, and inspires others to overcome their own obstacles. This scholarship would help support that journey by reducing financial barriers and allowing me to focus on my education, athletics, and long-term goals.
Going to college is not just about earning a degree for me it is about creating a path forward, overcoming challenges, and building a legacy that reflects hard work, resilience, and purpose.
Big Picture Scholarship
One movie that has had a lasting impact on my life is Home Alone. While it is often seen as a funny holiday movie, it carries deeper lessons about independence, resilience, and the importance of family lessons that I have been able to relate to in my own life.
At the beginning of the movie, Kevin feels frustrated and overlooked by his family, and after being accidentally left home alone, he is forced to figure things out on his own. One scene that stood out to me was when Kevin first realizes he is alone. At first, he is excited, but that quickly turns into responsibility. He has to take care of himself, manage his time, and handle situations he was not prepared for. That moment showed me how quickly situations can change and how important it is to adapt.
Another powerful scene is when Kevin sets up traps to defend his home from the burglars. Instead of being afraid and giving up, he uses creativity, confidence, and determination to protect what matters to him. That scene represents resilience to me facing challenges head-on, even when the situation is difficult. As a student-athlete, I have had to develop that same mindset. Whether it is pushing through tough practices, balancing school and football, or dealing with personal challenges like my parents’ divorce, I have learned to stay focused and keep going, even when things are not easy.
Growing up in a single-parent household, I have also learned the importance of independence and responsibility. Like Kevin, there have been moments where I had to mature quickly and take accountability for my actions. Watching him problem-solve and stay determined reminded me that challenges are opportunities to grow stronger.
The most meaningful part of the movie to me is the ending, when Kevin is reunited with his family. After everything he went through, he realizes how much they mean to him. That moment made me reflect on my own life and the importance of not taking family for granted. My mom and my Nana have been my biggest supporters, and seeing that scene reminded me to appreciate everything they do for me.
What makes Home Alone so impactful is that it shows growth through unexpected situations. Kevin goes from feeling overlooked to becoming confident, independent, and more appreciative of his family. That journey is something I connect with because my own experiences have helped me grow in similar ways.
Overall, Home Alone has influenced how I approach challenges and relationships. It has taught me to stay resilient, be independent, and value the people who support me. Even though it is a comedy, the lessons behind it are real, and they continue to motivate me as I work toward my goals and future.
Marie J. Lamerique Scholarship for Aspiring Scholars
One moment that challenged me the most was during the time my parents went through their divorce. It was not just a single day, but there was a specific period when everything felt uncertain, and I had to figure out how to stay focused while my home life was changing. As a student-athlete, I was expected to show up every day ready for school and football, but mentally and emotionally, I was dealing with a lot behind the scenes.
I remember going to practice one day after a particularly difficult situation at home. My mind was not fully there, and I felt distracted and frustrated. It would have been easy for me to shut down or let that moment affect my performance and attitude. Instead, I made a decision that day to push through and not allow what I was going through to define me. I reminded myself of my goals and the bigger picture of what I was working toward.
In that moment, I chose to focus on what I could control my effort, my mindset, and my discipline. I gave everything I had at practice that day, even though it was not easy. That decision may have seemed small, but it was a turning point for me. It showed me that even when things are not going right, I still have control over how I respond.
At home, I also had to step up in different ways. Growing up in a single-parent household meant that I became more aware of responsibilities and the sacrifices my mom was making. Watching her continue to push forward balancing work, supporting me, and even earning her Master’s degree during that time motivated me to do the same. I realized that if she could stay strong through everything she was facing, then I could stay focused on my goals as well.
That experience taught me resilience and mental toughness. I learned that life will not always be easy, and there will be moments when things feel overwhelming. However, I also learned that challenges can either hold you back or push you forward, depending on how you respond. I chose to let that experience push me to become stronger, more focused, and more determined.
It also changed the way I approach my future. I now understand the importance of staying disciplined and consistent, even when things are difficult. Whether it is in academics, athletics, or my personal life, I know that I have the ability to push through challenges and continue working toward my goals. I do not take opportunities for granted because I understand how quickly situations can change.
This experience also shaped my perspective on success. Success is not just about talent or ability it is about perseverance, mindset, and the willingness to keep going when things get tough. It has motivated me to pursue my goals with a stronger sense of purpose, including graduating early, continuing my athletic career, and building a future in entrepreneurship.
Most importantly, it has influenced the way I carry myself and how I treat others. I have developed a greater sense of empathy and understanding, knowing that everyone may be dealing with challenges that are not always visible. Because of that, I try to be a positive influence, whether it is supporting my teammates, giving back through my community, or simply being someone others can rely on.
Overall, that moment during my parents’ divorce challenged me in a way that forced me to grow. It tested my mindset, my discipline, and my ability to stay focused. In the end, it made me stronger and better prepared for the future. I now approach life with the understanding that challenges are part of the journey, and I am confident in my ability to overcome them and continue moving forward.

I am committed to graduating early in December 2026, which reflects my focus on academics and my drive to push myself beyond expectations. My long-term goal is to build successful businesses that not only provide financial stability, but also make a positive impact in my community.
In the future, I plan to develop an apparel brand, a sneaker resale business, and eventually open a sports training facility. Each of these goals connects to my passion for sports, business, and helping others grow. Through my apparel brand, I want to inspire confidence and discipline. Through my sneaker business, I want to build financial knowledge and create opportunities for others to learn entrepreneurship. My long-term goal of opening a sports training facility is especially important to me because I want to give young athletes access to mentorship, training, and resources they may not otherwise have.
Giving back to my community has already played a major role in shaping my goals and perspective. Through my church, I have volunteered at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participated in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive. These experiences have allowed me to directly support families in need and be part of something bigger than myself. Whether I was helping distribute food or organizing school supplies, I learned that even small actions can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.
These experiences have also taught me the importance of compassion and service. I have seen how much people rely on community support, and it has made me more aware of the challenges others face. It has also shown me that leadership is not just about personal success it is about how you use your success to uplift others.
In addition, participating in the NAMI walk in Dallas in support of my aunt, who has faced mental health challenges, has expanded my understanding of service even further. It showed me the importance of awareness, support, and standing by those who are going through difficult situations. That experience reinforced my belief that making a difference starts with being present, supportive, and willing to take action.
All of these experiences have inspired me to think bigger about the impact I want to have in the world. I do not just want to be successful for myself I want to create opportunities for others, give back to my community, and build something that lasts beyond me. Through my education and future career, I plan to combine business, leadership, and service to make a meaningful difference.
Overall, my goals are driven by both my personal ambitions and my desire to give back. The experiences I have had serving my community have shaped my mindset and inspired me to build a future that is not only successful, but also impactful. I am committed to using my education, my platform, and my opportunities to help others and make a positive difference in the world.
Ava Wood Stupendous Love Scholarship
Kindness in Action
One meaningful act of kindness I offered was through my involvement at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry with my church. While volunteering, I helped distribute food to families in need, but one moment stood out to me. There was a family that seemed especially overwhelmed, and I could tell they were going through a difficult time. Instead of just handing them food and moving on, I took a moment to speak with them, help carry their items, and make sure they felt seen and respected.
That moment was important to me because it reminded me that kindness is not just about completing a task it is about how you treat people. Anyone can go through the motions, but taking the time to show compassion and care can make a real difference. I realized that even small actions, like listening or offering encouragement, can have a lasting impact on someone’s day.
This experience also taught me that you never truly know what someone is going through. Because of that, I try to approach every situation with patience and understanding. Whether I am with my teammates, classmates, or people in my community, I make it a priority to treat others with respect and kindness. That moment showed me that kindness is powerful, and it is something I carry with me every day.
Creating Connection
As a varsity athlete, I have had the opportunity to help bring people together and create a sense of belonging within my team. Football is more than just a sport it is about trust, teamwork, and connection. I have made it a priority to be someone who encourages others, especially younger teammates who are still finding their place.
There have been times when new players or younger athletes felt unsure or out of place. I made an effort to include them, talk to them, and support them during practice. Whether it was offering advice, encouraging them after mistakes, or simply making sure they felt part of the team, I wanted them to know they belonged.
I have also carried this mindset into my community through volunteering with my church at events like the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive. These experiences brought together people from different backgrounds, and I learned the importance of creating an environment where everyone feels respected and valued.
Creating connection is important to me because I understand how much it can impact someone’s confidence and sense of belonging. I want to be someone who brings people together, not someone who separates them. Through my actions, I try to create spaces where people feel supported, included, and motivated to be their best.
Kalia D. Davis Memorial Scholarship
I am building my life on purpose, not just potential.
My name is D’Aires, also known as “BAM,” and I am a high school junior, varsity wide receiver, and dedicated student-athlete committed to growth, discipline, and purpose. I am also on track to graduate early in December 2026, a goal that reflects my commitment to pushing myself academically while balancing athletics, faith, and service. I strive to live each day with intention working toward a future that allows me to make a meaningful impact. The values of living, loving, laughing, learning, and leaving a legacy are not just words to me they reflect how I choose to carry myself and the life I am building.

Whether it is in the classroom or on the field, I push myself to stay disciplined, focused, and committed to becoming better. I have faced challenges, including growing up in a single-parent household and going through my parents’ divorce, but those experiences have taught me resilience and the importance of staying strong through adversity.
Loving is reflected in how I treat others and how I give back to my community. Through my church, I have volunteered at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participated in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive. These experiences have taught me the importance of showing compassion, supporting others, and being present for people in need. I have also learned from my family, especially my mom and my Nana, what it means to lead with love and to always put others first.
Laughing reminds me to stay positive and enjoy the journey, even when things get challenging. Life is not always easy, but maintaining a positive attitude helps me stay motivated and focused. Whether I am with my teammates, my family, or my community, I try to bring energy, encouragement, and positivity into every space I am in.
Learning is something I value deeply. Watching my mom earn her Master’s degree while raising me showed me the importance of education and perseverance. Her example has motivated me to take my academics seriously and to continue pursuing higher education. I plan to attend college, continue my athletic career, and study business or entrepreneurship so I can build a successful future.
Legacy is what ties everything together. I want to leave a legacy that is built on hard work, faith, and service. Sola Family Scholarship
Growing up with a single mother has played a major role in shaping who I am today. My mom has been my main source of support, guidance, and motivation, and watching her navigate life while raising me has taught me lessons that continue to influence how I approach challenges, relationships, and my future.
Being raised in a single-parent household meant I saw firsthand the level of responsibility and sacrifice it takes to provide for a family. My mom balanced multiple roles provider, protector, mentor, and supporter while making sure I had everything I needed to succeed. Even during difficult times, including going through my parents’ divorce, she never stopped showing up for me. Her consistency and strength showed me what it means to stay committed, even when life is not easy.
One of the most powerful examples she set was her dedication to her education. I remember the late nights and early mornings of her studying, often while still cooking, taking care of responsibilities at home, and making sure I was prepared for school and practice. There were times she would take me to practice in the early hours of the morning, then sit there with her laptop, continuing her schoolwork while I trained. Even when her schedule required her to travel for work, she would make the effort to fly back just to attend my games. Watching her manage all of that while still earning her Master’s degree showed me what real determination and sacrifice look like.
Those experiences shaped me in a way that goes beyond just motivation they built my mindset. I learned that success requires discipline, consistency, and the ability to push through challenges without making excuses. As a student-athlete, I carry those lessons with me every day. Whether it is balancing academics and football or pushing myself to improve, I understand what it takes to stay committed because I have seen it lived out in front of me.
Growing up this way has also made me more independent and responsible. I learned early on how to manage my time, stay focused on my goals, and take accountability for my actions. I do not take opportunities for granted because I understand the sacrifices that were made for me to have them. My mom has always pushed me to do my best, and that has driven me to stay focused on my education and my future.
Beyond discipline and responsibility, my experience has also taught me compassion and respect. I have a deeper appreciation for what people go through behind the scenes, and it has influenced how I treat others. Whether it is through volunteering, being a supportive teammate, or simply showing respect, I try to reflect the values my mom has taught me.
Overall, being raised by a single mother has shaped me into a stronger, more focused, and more determined individual. It has taught me resilience, discipline, and the importance of hard work. Most importantly, it has shown me that your circumstances do not define your mindset and your actions do. I carry those lessons with me every day, and they continue to drive me as I work toward my goals and build my future.
Ethel Hayes Destigmatization of Mental Health Scholarship
My understanding of mental health has been shaped not only by what I have experienced personally, but by watching someone I love navigate it every day. My aunt has struggled with mental health since she was a teenager and was diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia at an early age. Now at 47, she continues to face challenges, but through it all, my family especially my mom has remained a strong support system for her. Growing up around this experience has had a major impact on how I see the world, how I build relationships, and the goals I have for my future.
Watching my aunt’s journey has taught me that mental health is real, complex, and often misunderstood. There have been moments where I did not fully understand what she was going through, but as I got older, I began to see the strength it takes to live with those challenges. I also saw the importance of patience, compassion, and support. My mom has always been there for her, showing me what it means to stand by someone even when things are difficult. That example has shaped how I treat others and how I respond when someone is struggling.
Because of my aunt’s experience, I have learned to be more understanding and less judgmental. I know that not everyone’s struggles are visible, and that people can be going through things you may never fully see. This has influenced the way I build relationships with others. I try to be someone people can trust, someone who listens, and someone who shows respect and patience. Whether it is with my teammates, friends, or people in my community, I try to create a positive and supportive environment.
My family’s involvement in the NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) walk in Dallas has also played a big role in shaping my perspective. Participating in that walk each year in support of my aunt has shown me that mental health is something that affects many families, not just mine. It has helped me understand the importance of raising awareness, reducing stigma, and supporting those who are dealing with mental health challenges. Being part of something bigger than myself in that way has made me more aware and more motivated to make a difference.
This experience has also influenced my goals. While I plan to pursue a career in entrepreneurship, I want to use my platform to support mental health awareness and create environments where people feel supported and understood. Whether it is through my future businesses, my community involvement, or simply the way I treat people, I want to contribute to breaking the stigma around mental health and encouraging open conversations.
I also carry these lessons into my own life. As a student-athlete, I understand the importance of mental strength and maintaining a positive mindset. Football, school, and life all come with pressure, and my experiences have taught me the importance of staying mentally focused, asking for support when needed, and not ignoring what you are going through.
Overall, my aunt’s journey with mental health has shaped my understanding of the world in a powerful way. It has taught me compassion, patience, and the importance of supporting others. It has influenced the way I build relationships and has given me a desire to make a positive impact. Through my actions, my future goals, and my willingness to support others, I hope to continue raising awareness and being a positive influence in the lives of those around me.

The person who has had the greatest impact on my educational journey is my mom. Growing up in a single-parent household, she has been my main source of support, guidance, and motivation. She has always been there for me through every stage of my life, making sure I stayed focused on my education, my goals, and becoming the best version of myself.
My mom has shown me what hard work and determination truly look like. Even while raising me on her own and going through challenges like my parents’ divorce, she stayed committed to her own goals and earned her Master’s degree. Watching her balance everything she had going on while still achieving something so important showed me that no situation is too difficult to overcome. That example has stayed with me and continues to push me to work harder every day.
Her support has shaped me into someone who values discipline, accountability, and perseverance. She has always pushed me to take my education seriously and to never settle for less than my best. Whether it was making sure I stayed on top of my schoolwork, encouraging me after a tough day, or reminding me of my goals, she has always been there. Because of her, I have learned how to stay focused even when things are not easy and how to keep moving forward no matter what obstacles I face.
Growing up in a single-parent household has made me more aware of the sacrifices she has made for me. It has motivated me to take advantage of every opportunity I have, especially when it comes to my education. I understand that everything she has done has been to give me a better future, and I do not take that for granted. Her support has been instrumental because it has given me both the encouragement and the example I needed to believe in myself and push toward my goals.
I honor my mom by staying committed to my education, my character, and my future. I make it a priority to work hard in school, stay disciplined as a student-athlete, and represent myself in a way that reflects the values she has taught me. I also honor her by staying focused on my goals and continuing to push myself to succeed, knowing that everything I achieve is also a reflection of her sacrifices and support.
As I work toward my future goals, I plan to build on her support by continuing my education and pursuing a career in entrepreneurship. I want to create opportunities not only for myself, but for others, just like she has created opportunities for me. I plan to use everything she has taught me hard work, resilience, and determination to build a successful future and give back to my community.
Overall, my mom’s support has been the foundation of my success. Growing up in a single-parent household has not been easy, but it has made me stronger, more focused, and more determined. Her example has driven me to be successful, and her support continues to motivate me to achieve my goals. I am committed to making her proud and using everything she has taught me to build a future that reflects her strength and sacrifice.

Two of the most meaningful relationships in my life are with my mom and my Nana. They have both played a major role in shaping who I am today through their strength, support, and the example they set. Through every high and low in my life, they have been constant, and their influence has helped shape my character, my values, and the way I build relationships with others.
My Nana is the matriarch of our family, and her presence has always been a source of strength and stability. She has supported me through every stage of my life from the challenges of my parents’ divorce to my football games and my academic journey. No matter what I am going through, she is always there with encouragement, wisdom, and love. She has taught me the importance of staying grounded, treating others with respect, and leading with compassion. Watching the way she holds our family together and supports everyone around her has shown me what true leadership looks like. It is not about being in charge, but about being dependable, consistent, and willing to support others no matter the situation.
My mom has also been a constant source of strength in my life. She has been there for me through every high and low, always pushing me to be my best while supporting me along the way. Going through my parents’ divorce was a difficult time, but she never allowed that situation to stop her from continuing to show up for me. Even during that challenging period, she stayed focused on her goals and earned her Master’s degree. Watching her achieve that while balancing everything she had going on showed me what true determination and perseverance look like. It taught me that no matter what obstacles you face, you can still succeed if you stay committed and focused.
Most recently, my mom stood by my side during my baptism, which was one of the most important moments in my life. Having her there meant everything to me and showed me the importance of faith, family, and commitment. Both she and my Nana have played a major role in strengthening my faith and helping me stay grounded in my values.
Because of my mom and my Nana, I have learned how to build strong and meaningful relationships. They have shown me that relationships are built on trust, consistency, and support. I try to carry those same values into my interactions with others. As a student-athlete, I focus on being a dependable teammate, encouraging others, and leading by example. I understand that strong relationships are what build strong teams, and I make it a priority to support those around me.
I also apply these lessons in my community. Through volunteering at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participating in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive, I have learned how important it is to connect with people and serve with respect and compassion. These experiences have reinforced what my mom and Nana have taught me that how you treat people matters, and that small actions can have a meaningful impact.
Overall, my mom and my Nana have shaped me into the person I am today. They have taught me strength, faith, discipline, and compassion, and they have shown me what it means to truly support others. Because of them, I strive to build relationships that are based on trust, respect, and consistency, and I aim to have a positive impact on everyone I encounter.

Service is not just something I do it is part of who I am. I believe that how you treat others, how you lead, and how you give back defines your character more than any title or achievement. As a student-athlete, my goal is not only to succeed for myself, but to use my actions, my voice, and my future to positively impact others.
One of the main ways I embody a life of service is through my involvement in my church and community. I have volunteered at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry, where I helped distribute food to families in need. That experience taught me the importance of humility and being present for others. It was not just about providing food it was about showing respect, kindness, and understanding to every person I encountered. I also participated in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive, helping provide school supplies to students and families. Being part of that effort showed me how even small acts of service can create real change and help set others up for success.
As a varsity wide receiver, I also embody service through leadership. I understand that leadership is not about being the loudest person, but about being consistent, dependable, and setting the right example. I make it a priority to show discipline, stay focused, and encourage my teammates. I know that younger athletes are watching, and I want to represent myself, my team, and my school in a way that reflects strong character.
My faith plays a major role in how I live a life of service. Being recently baptized strengthened my commitment to living with purpose, discipline, and integrity. My faith teaches me that service is about giving without expecting anything in return and using what I have to help others. It keeps me grounded and reminds me to stay focused on what truly matters.
Going through my parents’ divorce also shaped my understanding of service. That experience taught me resilience and gave me a deeper sense of empathy for others who may be going through challenges. It helped me understand that everyone is dealing with something, and sometimes the best way to serve others is simply by being supportive, patient, and present.
Looking ahead, I plan to use my education to continue serving others through entrepreneurship. My goal is to build businesses that create opportunities and make a lasting impact. I plan to develop an apparel brand, a sneaker resale business, and eventually open a sports training facility. Each of these will reflect my commitment to growth, discipline, and giving back.
My long-term goal of opening a sports training facility is especially important to me because I want to provide young athletes with access to mentorship, training, and resources they may not otherwise have. I want to create an environment where they can grow not only as athletes, but as individuals. I also want to create job opportunities and mentor others in business, helping them build skills that will benefit them long-term.
Overall, I embody a life of service through my actions, my leadership, and my commitment to others. Through my education and future career, I plan to continue that service by creating opportunities, uplifting others, and making a meaningful and lasting impact in my community.

My name is D’Aires, also known as “BAM,” and I am a high school junior, varsity wide receiver, and dedicated student-athlete committed to growth both on and off the field. I take pride in maintaining strong academic performance while competing at a high level in football, and I approach everything I do with discipline, focus, and a desire to improve. My experiences both challenging and rewarding have shaped me into someone who is determined to succeed and help others along the way.
One of the most impactful challenges I have faced was going through my parents’ divorce. That experience tested me mentally and emotionally, while I was still expected to perform in school and on the field. Instead of allowing it to affect my performance or mindset, I made the decision to stay focused and push forward. I became more disciplined with my time, more resilient in difficult situations, and more committed to my goals. That experience helped me grow into a stronger individual and taught me that adversity can either slow you down or push you to become better.
As a varsity athlete, I understand the importance of leadership and accountability. I make it a priority to lead by example through my work ethic, attitude, and consistency. Whether it is showing up prepared for practice, encouraging my teammates, or staying focused in the classroom, I strive to represent myself, my team, and my school in a positive way. I understand that leadership is not just about words, but about actions.
I have also made it a priority to give back to my community. Through my church, I have volunteered at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participated in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive. These experiences have allowed me to support families in need and understand the importance of service. They have taught me that making a difference does not always require something big consistent effort and a willingness to help can have a lasting impact.
Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a career in entrepreneurship. My goal is to build businesses that not only create success, but also create opportunities for others. I plan to develop an apparel brand, a sneaker resale business, and eventually open a sports training facility. These ventures reflect my passion for sports, business, and community impact.
Through my apparel brand, I want to promote a mindset of discipline and confidence. Through my sneaker business, I want to build financial knowledge and create opportunities for others to learn entrepreneurship. My long-term goal of opening a sports training facility is especially important to me because I want to provide young athletes with access to training, mentorship, and resources especially those who may not have those opportunities.
I believe making a positive impact is about using your success to help others grow. My faith plays a major role in that mindset, reminding me to stay grounded, lead with integrity, and serve others with purpose.

My faith in God has played a major role in shaping who I am today. It has helped guide me through challenges, keep me grounded, and remind me to stay focused on my purpose. There have been difficult moments in my life, especially going through my parents’ divorce, and during those times, my faith gave me strength and direction.
When my family went through that situation, it affected me mentally and emotionally. I had to adjust to changes I was not prepared for while still staying focused on school and football. There were moments of uncertainty, but my faith helped me stay strong. It reminded me that even during difficult times, there is a purpose behind every challenge. Instead of letting that situation hold me back, I leaned into my faith, stayed connected to my church, and focused on continuing to grow.
A major step in my faith journey was being baptized on Friday, April 3, 2026. That moment meant a lot to me because it represented my commitment to living a life guided by faith, discipline, and purpose. It was a decision to trust God more fully and to continue growing spiritually as I move forward.
My involvement in church has also helped shape my character. Through volunteering at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participating in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive, I have learned the importance of serving others. My faith has taught me that leadership is not just about what you achieve, but how you give back and support others. It has also taught me to stay humble, disciplined, and consistent in everything I do.
As a student-athlete and varsity wide receiver, my faith helps me stay focused and motivated. Football requires discipline, patience, and mental strength, and my faith reminds me to keep pushing even when things are challenging. It helps me stay level-headed during both success and setbacks, and it teaches me to trust the process.
One quote that reflects how I approach life is: “I trust in God’s timing, painting my future with faith and patience, knowing that His plans for me are perfect and His timing is always right.” This mindset reminds me to stay patient, stay focused, and continue putting in the work.
Looking toward my future, I believe my faith will continue to guide me in my career and personal life. I plan to pursue entrepreneurship and build businesses that create opportunities for others, including an apparel brand, a sneaker resale business, and a sports training facility. My faith will help me lead with integrity, make strong decisions, and stay focused on my purpose.
In both business and life, there will always be challenges, but my faith will help me stay grounded and focused on long-term goals. It will remind me to treat people with respect, give back to my community, and stay committed to doing things the right way.
Overall, my faith has helped me grow stronger, stay focused, and develop into the person I am today. It continues to guide my actions and decisions, and I know it will remain a key part of my journey as I work toward making a positive impact in my future.
Let Your Light Shine Scholarship
I plan to create a legacy by building something that lasts beyond me something that creates opportunities, inspires others, and makes a real impact in my community. To me, a legacy is not just about personal success, but about how you use your success to help others grow. I want to be remembered as someone who stayed disciplined, remained true to his values, and used his platform to uplift others.
My name is D’Aires, also known as “BAM,” and as a varsity wide receiver, I’ve learned that success comes from consistency, focus, and effort every day. Those same values are what I plan to build my future on. I want to create a group of businesses that reflect my mindset and my journey.
One of my main goals is to launch an apparel brand called “BAM Built” with the tagline: “Built Different. Built Daily.” This brand represents more than clothing it represents a mindset. It’s about putting in the work every day, staying disciplined, and growing through pressure. My personal experiences, including overcoming challenges like my parents’ divorce, have taught me that you are built through what you go through. I want my brand to inspire others, especially young athletes, to stay focused and believe in themselves no matter what obstacles they face.
In addition to my apparel brand, I plan to start a sneaker resale business as a way to build financial knowledge and entrepreneurship skills. I want to understand how to grow a business from the ground up and eventually create opportunities for others to learn and be involved. It’s important to me to not only build income, but to also build knowledge that I can pass on.
One of my biggest long-term goals is to open a sports training facility for young athletes. I want to create a space where kids can develop their skills, gain confidence, and receive mentorship. Not every athlete has access to quality training or guidance, and I want to help fill that gap. My goal is to build a facility that focuses not only on performance, but also on discipline, character, and mindset.
I shine my light through my actions, my work ethic, and how I treat others. As a student-athlete, I lead by example by staying disciplined, showing up consistently, and pushing myself to improve. I understand that younger athletes look up to me, so I make it a priority to carry myself the right way both on and off the field.
I also shine my light through service. Through my church, I have volunteered at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participated in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive. These experiences have taught me the importance of giving back and being there for others. Whether I am helping provide food or school supplies, I approach it with a positive attitude and a willingness to serve.
My faith keeps me grounded and reminds me to stay focused on my purpose. It teaches me that true leadership is about serving others and making an impact beyond yourself.
Overall, I plan to create a legacy by building businesses that stand for discipline, growth, and opportunity. Through my brand, my businesses, and my actions, I want to inspire others to stay committed, work hard, and believe in themselves. I want to be known not just for what I achieve, but for how I helped others grow and succeed along the way.

My name is D'Aires, and I am a high school junior, student-athlete, and someone who takes pride in working hard, staying true to my values, and supporting others around me. Being a varsity football player has helped shape who I am, but my character has also been built through my faith, my family, and my commitment to giving back to my community.
One of the most important things I have learned is the value of compassion. Through volunteering with my church at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participating in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive, I have had the opportunity to serve families in need. Whether I was helping distribute food or organizing school supplies, I learned that compassion is not just about feeling for others, but about taking action. These experiences taught me how important it is to treat everyone with respect and to show up for others, even in small ways.
I have also learned the importance of staying true to myself, especially during challenging times. Going through my parents’ divorce was a difficult experience that tested me emotionally and mentally. During that time, I had to make a decision about who I wanted to be despite my circumstances. I chose to stay focused on my goals, remain committed to my responsibilities, and continue to carry myself with integrity. That experience helped me grow into a stronger and more resilient person, and it taught me that your character is defined by how you respond to adversity.
Working alongside others has also been a major part of my journey. Football has shown me what it means to be part of a team and work toward a common goal. Success on the field is not about one person it requires trust, communication, and accountability. I have learned how to support my teammates, push others to be better, and step up when needed. These same values carry over into my life outside of sports, whether I am volunteering, working with others, or supporting my peers.
Looking ahead, I plan to pursue a degree in business or entrepreneurship and continue my athletic career at the collegiate level. My goal is to build a career that allows me to create opportunities for others, especially in communities that may lack resources and support. I want to develop programs and initiatives that help young people grow, stay focused, and reach their full potential. I believe that success is not just about personal achievement, but about how you use your success to uplift others.
Through my education and career, I plan to make a positive impact by leading with integrity, creating opportunities, and giving back to my community. I want to be someone who not only achieves goals, but also helps others achieve theirs. I understand that true success is measured by the impact you have on others, and I am committed to using my abilities, education, and experiences to make a difference.
Overall, my journey has taught me the importance of compassion, resilience, and teamwork. I am dedicated to continuing to grow as a student, athlete, and leader, and to using my future to create meaningful change in the lives of others.
Patricia Lindsey Jackson Foundation-Mary Louise Lindsey Service Scholarship
One meaningful way I have made an impact through service was through volunteering with my church at the Harmony CDC Food Pantry and participating in the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive. These experiences allowed me to directly support families in need and showed me the importance of giving back to my community in a real and consistent way.
I was inspired to take action through my church and the example set by those around me. I have always been taught that serving others is important, and being involved in church gave me the opportunity to live that out. Seeing people come together to help families who needed food, school supplies, and support made me realize how important it is to step up and be part of something bigger than myself.
At the Harmony CDC Food Pantry, I helped distribute food to families in the community. This experience opened my eyes to the challenges that many people face on a daily basis. It was not just about handing out food it was about showing respect, kindness, and care to every person who came through. I learned how important it is to treat everyone with dignity and to understand that even small acts of service can make a big difference in someone’s life.
I also volunteered with the For Oak Cliff Back to School Drive, where we helped provide school supplies to students and families preparing for the school year. Being part of that effort showed me how something as simple as school supplies can impact a student’s confidence and readiness to succeed. It made me realize that service is not just about meeting immediate needs, but also about helping set people up for future success.
One of the challenges I faced was balancing my responsibilities. As a student-athlete playing varsity football, I have a demanding schedule with school, practices, and training. There were times when I had to manage my time carefully to stay committed to both my responsibilities and my service. However, these experiences taught me discipline and how to prioritize what matters most.
Another challenge was stepping into a leadership role. At first, I was more comfortable just helping where I was told, but over time I began to take more initiative and understand the importance of leading by example. Whether it was helping organize, supporting others, or simply showing up ready to work, I learned that leadership is about consistency and responsibility.
These experiences shaped my understanding of service by showing me that it is not about recognition, but about impact. I learned that leadership is about being dependable and setting the right example for others. Most importantly, my faith has guided how I approach service. It has taught me to stay grounded, to serve with purpose, and to always look for ways to help others.
Overall, volunteering through my church has helped shape me into a more responsible, compassionate, and disciplined individual. It has shown me the value of giving back and the importance of using my time and abilities to support others. I plan to continue serving my community and growing as a leader so I can make an even greater impact in the future.
Learner SAT Tutoring Scholarship
I recently took the SAT for the first time, and it was an important learning experience for me. Going into the test, I did not fully know what to expect, but taking it helped me understand the format, timing, and level of difficulty. Although my score was not where I ultimately want it to be yet, I was proud that I scored higher on my SAT than I did on my PSAT. That improvement showed me that my efforts are paying off and gave me confidence that I can continue to raise my score.
After receiving my results, I took time to reflect on my performance and identify both my strengths and areas that need improvement. I recognized that I need to focus more on time management, reading comprehension, and accuracy in certain sections. Instead of being discouraged, I am using this as motivation to push myself and improve for my next attempt.
To prepare moving forward, I am taking a more structured and disciplined approach to studying. I have started setting aside consistent time each week to review SAT material and complete practice questions. I am using prep resources such as practice tests and online tools to become more familiar with the types of questions on the exam. Taking full-length practice tests is also helping me build endurance and improve my pacing so I can better manage my time during the test.
I am also working on strengthening my problem-solving skills and minimizing simple mistakes by slowing down and carefully reading each question. In addition, I am focusing on building my confidence by tracking my progress and recognizing improvement over time. I understand that preparing for the SAT is not just about learning the material, but also about developing discipline, consistency, and the right mindset.
My goal is to significantly increase my SAT score so that it better reflects my academic ability and strengthens my college applications. I want to reach a score that will open up more opportunities for admission and scholarships, especially as I plan to continue my education at the collegiate level. Improving my SAT score is important to me because I know it can play a key role in helping me achieve my academic and career goals.
Overall, I see my first SAT attempt as a strong starting point, not a final result. Scoring higher than I did on my PSAT showed me that I am capable of growth, and now I am focused on building on that progress. I am committed to putting in the time and effort needed to reach my target score, and I am confident that with consistency and hard work, I will continue to improve and achieve my goals.
Julius Quentin Jackson Scholarship
One of the biggest challenges I have had to overcome was my parents’ divorce. That experience affected me in ways that went beyond just a change at home it impacted me emotionally, mentally, and financially. During that time, I had to learn how to stay focused on my goals while dealing with uncertainty and changes in my daily life.
Balancing school and football while going through that situation was not easy. There were moments when it was difficult to stay motivated, and I had to work harder to keep my grades up and continue performing at a high level as a varsity athlete. Instead of letting those challenges hold me back, I made the decision to use them as motivation. I focused on what I could control my effort, my attitude, and my commitment to improving myself.
Through this experience, I became more disciplined, resilient, and independent. I learned how to manage my time better, stay mentally strong, and push through difficult situations without giving up. My faith and involvement in my church also played a major role in helping me stay grounded and focused during that time. It reminded me that challenges are temporary, but the lessons and growth that come from them can last a lifetime.
In addition to the emotional challenges, my family has also faced financial struggles. With the changes that came from my parents’ divorce, there have been added financial responsibilities and limitations. Paying for college is a major concern, and I understand that pursuing higher education will require significant financial support. While my family continues to work hard, the cost of tuition, books, housing, and other expenses can be overwhelming.
These financial challenges have made me even more determined to succeed. I do not take the opportunity to go to college for granted, and I am committed to making the most of it. Receiving this scholarship would help relieve some of the financial burden on my family and allow me to focus more on my education and athletic development without constant financial stress.
My goal is to attend college, continue playing football, and pursue a degree in business or entrepreneurship. I want to build a future where I am not only successful, but also able to give back to my community and support my family. This scholarship would be an important step toward helping me achieve those goals by giving me the opportunity to focus on my growth and take full advantage of my education.
Overall, the challenges I have faced have shaped me into a stronger, more focused, and determined individual. They have taught me resilience, responsibility, and the importance of staying committed to my goals no matter what obstacles I face. With the support of this scholarship, I will be able to continue pushing forward and working toward a successful future.
Clark Emerging Leaders Scholarship
One of the biggest challenges I have faced was going through my parents’ divorce while balancing the responsibilities of being a student-athlete. That period of my life was difficult because it affected me emotionally and mentally, and it forced me to grow up faster than I expected. At the same time, I still had to stay focused on school, football, and my responsibilities, even when things felt uncertain at home.
There were moments when it was hard to stay focused. I had to deal with changes in my daily life, emotions I did not always know how to process, and the pressure of trying to stay strong. On the field, I still expected a lot from myself, but off the field, I was dealing with things that made it challenging to stay motivated at times. It would have been easy to let those circumstances affect my performance and mindset, but I knew I had to make a decision about how I was going to respond.
Instead of letting the situation define me, I used it as motivation. I leaned more into football, academics, and my faith. Being part of a team gave me structure and support, and it pushed me to stay disciplined even when things were tough. I also stayed connected to my church, which helped me stay grounded and reminded me to keep moving forward with purpose. I made a conscious effort to focus on what I could control my effort, my attitude, and my commitment to improving every day.
Over time, I became stronger mentally and emotionally. I learned how to handle stress better and how to stay focused even when things around me were not stable. I also became more independent and responsible, understanding that challenges are a part of life and that growth comes from how you respond to them. That experience taught me resilience, maturity, and the importance of staying committed to my goals no matter what I am going through.
From this experience, I learned that adversity does not have to hold you back it can push you forward if you let it. I learned how to stay disciplined, how to manage my emotions, and how to keep working toward my future even during difficult times. These lessons have shaped me into a stronger student, athlete, and person, and they will continue to guide me as I move forward.
I want to attend a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) because of the strong sense of culture, community, and support that these institutions provide. HBCUs have a long history of developing leaders and creating environments where students are encouraged to succeed while staying connected to who they are. Being in that kind of environment is important to me because I want to be surrounded by people who motivate and uplift each other.
My desire to attend an HBCU is also personal. My mother attended and graduated from Prairie View A&M University, and hearing about her experiences has inspired me. She has shared how her time there helped shape her into the person she is today, and that has made a strong impact on me. I want to continue that legacy and experience that same sense of pride, growth, and opportunity.
I believe attending an HBCU will help me succeed by giving me access to strong mentorship, valuable connections, and an environment that supports both my academic and personal development. As someone who plans to pursue entrepreneurship, I know that being surrounded by driven and like-minded individuals will help me grow and prepare for my future.
Overall, going through my parents’ divorce taught me how to stay strong, focused, and determined even during difficult times. It helped shape my mindset and showed me that I can overcome challenges and continue moving forward. Attending an HBCU will allow me to keep building on that strength while preparing for success in my academic, athletic, and professional journey.

I have already started giving back to my community through volunteering and being active in my church.
