I understand that student loan debt is a long-term responsibility, and I am approaching it with both realism and intention. My goal is to minimize how much I need to borrow in the first place, while also preparing myself to manage repayment in a responsible and consistent way after graduation. Currently, I am planning ahead by looking for ways to reduce the overall cost of college. I am actively applying for scholarships and grants because I know that every bit of financial aid I receive is money I do not need to repay later. I am also considering cost-effective options such as working part-time during the school year or over breaks to contribute toward personal and educational expenses like supplies, transportation, or housing costs. I see these steps as part of taking ownership of my education from the beginning. As I move through college, I plan to be mindful about borrowing only what is truly necessary. That means making careful decisions about expenses, budgeting my money, and avoiding unnecessary debt whenever possible. I want to be intentional rather than reactive, making financial choices that support my long-term goals instead of creating additional stress after graduation. In the future, once I begin repaying any student loans, I plan to approach that responsibility with discipline and consistency. I intend to create a structured budget that prioritizes loan payments while still allowing me to manage basic living expenses. I also plan to explore repayment options and financial planning resources so that I fully understand the best strategies for managing debt efficiently. My goal is to stay ahead of payments whenever possible and avoid letting debt accumulate unnecessarily. What motivates me to take this seriously is my desire to build a stable future where I can pursue my passion for photography without being held back by financial stress. I want to be in a position where I can invest in my creative work, contribute to my community, and take on opportunities that align with my goals. Managing student loan debt responsibly is part of making that future possible. I also see financial responsibility as part of my personal growth. Throughout my life, I have had to learn how to adapt, plan, and take responsibility for challenges as they arise. Managing student loans will be another extension of that mindset. It will require patience, consistency, and long-term thinking, all of which are skills I am continuing to develop. Ultimately, my approach to student loan debt is about preparation and accountability. I am planning to limit borrowing where I can, use available resources to reduce costs, and handle repayment in a structured and responsible way after college. I do not see debt management as a burden I cannot handle, but as a responsibility I am preparing myself to meet with discipline and care.

To me, going to college means more than continuing my education. It represents an opportunity to grow into the person I am trying to become, both academically and personally. It is a space where I can challenge myself, explore my interests more deeply, and begin turning my passions into something purposeful. College is not just the next step after high school, but a place where I can actively shape my future and build the foundation for the life I want to create. One of the main things I am trying to accomplish in college is finding direction through my passion for photography. Photography has become more than just a creative outlet for me. It is a way of understanding people, capturing emotion, and telling stories that might otherwise go unnoticed. I want to continue developing my skills so I can use photography in a meaningful way, whether that is through documenting real life experiences, highlighting stories within my community, or working on projects that bring awareness to important issues. My goal is to turn something I love into something that can make a positive impact on others. At the same time, I see college as a place where I can strengthen my independence and confidence. My journey so far has taught me how to adapt to challenges, stay focused during uncertainty, and take responsibility for my own growth. Going to college will push me to continue building on those lessons. I want to become more disciplined in managing my time, more confident in my decisions, and more open to learning from new experiences and perspectives. I know I will face challenges, but I also know those challenges will help me grow in ways I cannot fully predict right now. Another important goal I have is to contribute to my community in a meaningful way. I want to use my skills not only for personal success, but to help others feel seen and understood. Through photography, I hope to create work that brings people together and highlights the shared humanity in everyday life. Whether it is through capturing moments of connection, documenting local stories, or participating in community projects, I want my work to have purpose beyond myself. Going to college also means proving to myself that I am capable of reaching the goals I set, even when the path is not always clear. I am trying to build a future where I can combine creativity, purpose, and service. I want to leave college not only with knowledge and skills, but with a clearer sense of who I am and how I can contribute to the world around me. Ultimately, college is a chance for me to grow into someone who uses their talents intentionally. I am trying to accomplish more than just a degree. I am trying to build a life where I can express myself through photography, support others through my work, and continue learning and evolving as a person. It is a step toward a future where I am not only successful, but also meaningful in the impact I make.

Selflessness, to me, means choosing to show up for others without expecting anything in return. It is not always about big, visible actions, but often about small, consistent choices to put someone else’s needs alongside or before my own. I try to embody selflessness in the way I support the people around me, whether that is through my time, my effort, or simply being present when someone needs it most. One way I have demonstrated this is through my involvement in photography. While photography is something I am passionate about, I have learned that it can also be a way to give back. There have been times when I have offered to take photos for others who could not afford professional services, such as at small events or important personal moments. In those situations, my goal is not recognition, but to provide someone with something meaningful they can hold onto. Being able to capture a moment that matters to someone else and give it back to them is a simple but powerful way I can help. I have also shown selflessness in everyday situations, especially when people around me are struggling. For example, there have been times when friends or classmates were overwhelmed with schoolwork or personal challenges. Instead of focusing only on my own responsibilities, I made the effort to support them, whether that meant helping them study, listening to what they were going through, or just being someone they could rely on. These moments may not seem significant on their own, but they can make a real difference to someone who feels alone or stressed. Another example comes from my own experiences balancing responsibilities at home and in my personal life. When challenges arose, I learned to step up not just for myself, but for others as well. This included being more independent, helping manage situations when plans became complicated, and making sure that responsibilities were still met. In doing so, I was not only helping myself move forward, but also easing the burden on those around me. Through these experiences, I have learned that selflessness is closely connected to empathy. It requires understanding that everyone is dealing with something, even if it is not immediately visible. This perspective has shaped how I interact with others. I try to be more aware, more patient, and more willing to help when I can. Selflessness does not mean ignoring my own goals or needs, but rather finding a balance where I can grow while also supporting others. It is about using my strengths in ways that benefit more than just myself. As I continue to move forward, I hope to expand the ways I give back, especially through photography and community involvement. Whether it is through capturing meaningful moments for others or simply being there when someone needs support, I am committed to making a positive impact. In the end, selflessness is about connection. It is about recognizing that even small actions can have a lasting effect on someone else’s life. By choosing to act with empathy and intention, I strive to be someone who not only works toward personal success, but also contributes to the well being of those around me.
    Sola Family Scholarship
Growing up with a single mother has been one of the most defining experiences of my life. It shaped not only my character, but also my sense of responsibility and leadership from a young age. Watching my mother work hard every day to provide for our family showed me what strength, sacrifice, and resilience truly look like. She carried the weight of multiple roles, and seeing that inspired me to step up in my own way. As one of the older siblings, I naturally took on a leadership role within my family. I helped care for my siblings, supported them with schoolwork, and made sure they stayed on the right path. Whether it was helping with daily responsibilities or being someone they could look up to, I understood that my actions mattered. This experience taught me how to lead by example, how to be dependable, and how to put others before myself. I learned that leadership is not about being in charge, but about being someone others can trust and rely on. Growing up in a single parent household also taught me how to stay strong during difficult times. There were moments when things were uncertain or challenging, but I learned how to adapt and keep moving forward. Instead of giving up, I developed a mindset focused on perseverance and determination. I became mentally tough, understanding that obstacles are a part of life and that overcoming them is what builds character. These experiences have shaped me into a leader both at home and in my community. The responsibility I carried for my siblings helped me develop patience, communication skills, and the ability to guide others. I bring those same qualities into other areas of my life, including school and basketball, where leadership and teamwork are essential. I know how to support others, stay composed under pressure, and keep pushing forward even when things get difficult. Most importantly, growing up with a single mother has taught me to value hard work and never take opportunities for granted. It has given me a strong sense of purpose and a desire to succeed, not just for myself, but for my family as well. I want to continue being someone my siblings can look up to and someone my mother can be proud of. Overall, this experience has shaped me into a resilient, responsible, and determined individual. It has taught me how to lead through actions, how to stay strong in tough times, and how to uplift others even when facing challenges of my own.
    Tawkify Meaningful Connections Scholarship
In a world increasingly shaped by technology, authentic human connection can sometimes feel distant or replaced by screens and quick interactions. However, I believe technology does not have to weaken connection. Instead, it can be a powerful tool to preserve and strengthen it when used with intention. One of the most meaningful ways I maintain and build genuine human connection is through photography. Photography allows me to capture real moments that reflect emotion, culture, and community. In a time where people often scroll past each other’s lives, a photograph has the ability to make someone pause and truly see another person. Through my lens, I focus on capturing moments that bring people together, whether it is at community events, sports games, or everyday interactions. These images tell stories that words sometimes cannot fully express, helping people feel seen and understood. What makes photography so powerful is its ability to create lasting connections. When I take photos of others, I am not just capturing an image, I am building trust and relationships. People open up in front of the camera, allowing me to document their authentic selves. In return, they feel valued and recognized. Sharing these images with others helps strengthen bonds within the community because it reminds people of shared experiences and common ground. Photography also allows me to bridge gaps between different groups of people. By highlighting diverse stories and perspectives, I can bring attention to individuals and moments that might otherwise go unnoticed. This helps foster empathy and understanding, which are essential for strong human connection. When people see themselves or others represented in meaningful ways, it creates a sense of unity and belonging. While technology can sometimes create distance, it also gives me the opportunity to share my work with a wider audience. Through digital platforms, I am able to spread positive and authentic stories that encourage people to engage with one another in more meaningful ways. Instead of using technology for shallow interaction, I use it as a way to deepen connection by sharing real experiences and emotions. In addition, photography creates opportunities for in person connection that go beyond the image itself. When I am taking photos, I am interacting with people, learning their stories, and building relationships that extend beyond a single moment. These interactions remind me that connection starts with simply being present and engaged with others. In the future, I plan to continue using photography as a way to bring people together. I want to expand my work by documenting more community stories and creating spaces where people feel connected through shared experiences. Whether through local projects, events, or collaborations, I aim to use my passion to strengthen relationships and inspire others to value authentic connection. Human connection is not lost in a technological world, it is simply evolving. By using creativity and intention, we can preserve what makes connection meaningful while embracing new ways to bring people closer. Through photography, I have found a way to capture, preserve, and strengthen these connections, ensuring that even in a fast paced digital world, people continue to feel seen, heard, and united.

The people who have supported me most throughout my educational journey are my family and my teammates. Growing up in a single parent household, I learned early on that success requires resilience, discipline, and determination. My parent has been my biggest supporter, working tirelessly to provide for me while constantly encouraging me to stay focused on my education. Even during difficult times, they reminded me that my circumstances do not define my future. Their sacrifices and belief in me have been a constant source of motivation and strength. I honor my family by striving to make the most of every opportunity I am given. I take my education seriously because I understand how much effort has gone into allowing me to pursue my goals. At home, I contribute by helping with responsibilities and supporting my family in any way I can. I also aim to set a positive example for younger relatives by showing them the importance of hard work and perseverance. Everything I accomplish is not just for me, but for my family as well. In addition to my family, my teammates have played a major role in shaping who I am today. Through basketball, I have gained a second family that pushes me to grow both academically and personally. My teammates motivate me to stay disciplined, manage my time effectively, and remain committed to my goals. On the court, we rely on each other for success, and that same sense of accountability carries over into the classroom. Being surrounded by individuals who share a strong work ethic encourages me to stay focused and give my best effort in everything I do. Their support has shaped my mindset and driven me to succeed. From my family, I have learned the value of perseverance and responsibility. From my teammates, I have learned the importance of teamwork, leadership, and consistency. Together, they have helped me become more confident in my abilities and more determined to reach my goals. They have shown me that even when challenges arise, I have a strong support system behind me. As I continue working toward my goals, I plan to build on their support by remaining dedicated and using what I have learned to uplift others. I want to give back by mentoring younger students and athletes, showing them that they can overcome obstacles and achieve success. I will continue to carry the lessons my family and teammates have taught me, using them as a foundation for everything I pursue. This support has been especially instrumental in my life because growing up in a single parent household came with unique challenges. There were moments when things felt uncertain, but having people who believed in me made all the difference. My family and teammates have given me the confidence to keep pushing forward and the motivation to succeed. Their support has shaped who I am today and will continue to guide me as I work toward a brighter future.

Art has always been more than a form of expression for me. It is a way to solve problems, communicate ideas, and create meaningful connections. As I look toward my future, I plan to utilize my art through graphic design as both a sustainable career and a tool for impact. Graphic design allows me to combine creativity with purpose, giving me the opportunity to support myself while also helping others bring their visions to life. Through graphic design, I can transform ideas into visual experiences that inform, inspire, and influence. Whether I am creating branding for a small business, designing marketing materials, or developing digital content, my work has the potential to reach wide audiences and create lasting impressions. This ability to communicate visually is powerful in a world that is increasingly driven by images and digital media. By refining my skills in design software, typography, color theory, and layout, I am building a foundation that will allow me to adapt to different industries and client needs. Sustaining my future through graphic design also means embracing versatility. The field offers many opportunities, from freelance work to full time positions in creative agencies, corporations, or nonprofit organizations. I plan to explore multiple paths, including freelance projects that allow me to build a personal brand and long term roles that provide stability and growth. This flexibility ensures that I can adjust to changes in the job market while continuing to develop my craft. In addition to financial stability, I want my art to have a meaningful impact. Graphic design gives me the ability to support causes I care about by creating visuals that raise awareness and encourage action. For example, I can design campaigns for community organizations, create educational materials, or contribute to social initiatives. By using my skills in this way, I can align my career with my values and make a difference beyond personal success. Continuous learning will also play a key role in sustaining my future. Design trends, technology, and audience expectations are always evolving. I am committed to staying curious, learning new tools, and improving my techniques. This dedication will help me remain competitive and innovative in a fast changing field. Ultimately, I plan to utilize my art through graphic design as a balance between creativity and practicality. It will provide me with a reliable source of income while allowing me to express myself and contribute to the world around me. By combining passion, adaptability, and purpose, I am confident that my art will not only sustain my future but also help shape it in a meaningful and fulfilling way.
STLF Memorial Pay It Forward Scholarship
One of the most meaningful ways I have given back to my community has been through organizing and participating in volunteer efforts using photography. Recognizing the power of images to tell stories and bring people together, I organized a small community photography initiative focused on capturing and highlighting local events, individuals, and causes that often go unnoticed. The goal of this effort was not only to document moments, but to amplify voices and create a stronger sense of connection within the community. To begin, I reached out to local organizers and community groups to offer my photography services at events such as fundraisers, school activities, and neighborhood gatherings. Many of these groups lacked the resources to professionally document their events, which limited their ability to promote their work and attract future support. By volunteering my time and skills, I was able to provide them with high-quality images that they could use for social media, outreach, and awareness campaigns. In addition to photographing events, I also initiated a project where I created photo stories centered around individuals in the community. This included highlighting small business owners, students, and volunteers who were making a positive impact. By sharing these stories online, I helped bring attention to their efforts and encouraged others to get involved. This experience showed me that photography is not just an art form, but a powerful tool for advocacy and community engagement. Organizing this initiative required leadership, communication, and adaptability. I had to coordinate schedules, understand the needs of different groups, and ensure that my work aligned with their goals. I also learned how to take initiative, stepping forward to create opportunities rather than waiting for them to come to me. Through this process, I developed a deeper understanding of what it means to lead through service. Leadership through service is about putting the needs of others first and using your skills to make a meaningful impact. It is not defined by authority, but by action and responsibility. Through my photography work, I practiced this by focusing on how I could support others and contribute to something larger than myself. Whether it was helping a local organization share its mission or capturing moments that brought people together, my goal was always to serve the community in a positive and lasting way. This experience reinforced the importance of empathy and connection in leadership. By listening to others and understanding their stories, I was able to create work that truly reflected their experiences. It also taught me that leadership does not always require grand gestures; even small contributions, when done with intention and consistency, can have a meaningful impact. Through photography, I have found a unique way to volunteer and lead. By combining creativity with service, I have been able to give back to my community while developing valuable skills and a deeper sense of purpose. This approach to leadership has shaped how I view both my role in the community and my future goals, inspiring me to continue using my abilities to make a difference.

My academic and professional goals are rooted in a desire to grow personally while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. I am motivated by the belief that success is not only measured by individual achievement but by the positive impact one has on their community. Through my education I aim to develop the skills knowledge and discipline necessary to pursue a career that allows me to uplift others and create opportunities especially for communities that are often underrepresented or overlooked. Academically I strive to challenge myself and remain committed to learning because I understand that education opens doors and creates pathways for change. My long term professional goal is to enter a field where I can combine creativity leadership and service. I am particularly interested in using storytelling and teamwork as tools for connection and empowerment. These values are reflected in the two activities through which I have given back the most to my community basketball and photography. Basketball has played a significant role in shaping my character and inspiring my desire to make a difference. Being part of a team has taught me discipline accountability and perseverance. On the court I have learned how to lead by example encourage others and work toward a shared goal. I have given back to my community through basketball by mentoring younger players supporting teammates and promoting a positive environment built on respect and hard work. Basketball has shown me the power of unity and how sports can bring people together across different backgrounds. These experiences have inspired me to continue using teamwork and leadership as tools for change in my future academic and professional life. Photography is another powerful way I give back and express my commitment to making a difference. Through photography I am able to tell stories capture important moments and highlight the beauty and resilience within my community. I often use my camera to document events everyday life and cultural experiences that deserve recognition. Photography allows me to give people a voice and create visibility for stories that might otherwise go unnoticed. By sharing my work I aim to inspire pride connection and understanding while preserving meaningful moments for others. Giving back through basketball and photography has shaped my perspective and strengthened my desire to create positive change. These experiences have taught me that impact does not always come from grand gestures but from consistent effort passion and service. They have inspired me to pursue academic and professional goals that focus on empowerment representation and community engagement. With continued education and support I hope to expand my reach and use my skills to inspire others uplift communities and contribute to a more inclusive and connected world.
    Michael Thomas Waples Memorial Scholarship
The art work I decided to upload is my entire portfolio. This is because there is not one specific thing that inspires me, but many experiences, moments, and people that fuel my passion for photography. Each photograph represents a different chapter of my creative journey and together they tell a larger story about how I see the world. My inspiration comes from everyday life, fleeting emotions, and the beauty that exists in both ordinary and meaningful moments. Much of my inspiration comes from observing the world as it naturally unfolds. I am drawn to moments that feel real and unplanned, such as a quiet expression, a burst of laughter, or a moment of stillness in a busy environment. These moments often pass by unnoticed, but photography allows me to pause time and bring attention to them. By capturing these instances, I aim to remind people that there is value in slowing down and appreciating what is happening around them. People are another major source of inspiration in my work. I am fascinated by individuality and the stories that exist behind every face. Through my portfolio, I try to reflect genuine emotion and connection rather than perfection. I want my images to feel honest and relatable, allowing viewers to see themselves or someone they know within the frame. This approach helps me create work that feels personal while still being universally meaningful. My environment also plays an important role in shaping my photography. Light, setting, and atmosphere all influence how a moment is experienced and remembered. I am inspired by how small changes in lighting or perspective can completely transform an image. This has pushed me to experiment with different techniques and styles throughout my portfolio. Each photograph represents growth, curiosity, and a willingness to explore new creative directions. With this work, I am trying to achieve more than just visually appealing images. My goal is to create photographs that evoke feeling and reflection. I want viewers to pause and think about the moment being captured and what it represents to them personally. Whether it brings comfort, nostalgia, or inspiration, I hope my work creates a meaningful response. Ultimately, my portfolio represents my belief that photography is a way to preserve moments that would otherwise fade with time. By sharing my entire body of work, I am sharing how I experience life and what inspires me on a daily basis. I hope to continue growing as an artist by expanding my perspective and using photography as a way to connect with others. Through this collection, I aim to communicate that inspiration can be found everywhere, and that every moment has something worth remembering.

Photography has been a passion of mine because it has completely changed the way I see the world and the way I move through it. What began as a simple interest in taking pictures slowly became a way for me to understand life more deeply. Through photography, I learned that every moment holds meaning, even the ones that seem ordinary at first glance. This perspective has shaped who I am and taught me to be present, patient, and appreciative of the world around me. Before photography, I often rushed through moments without fully noticing them. I focused more on what was coming next instead of what was happening right in front of me. When I picked up a camera, I was forced to slow down. I began to pay attention to light, shadows, expressions, and small details that I once overlooked. Photography showed me that beauty does not only exist in major milestones or perfect settings, but also in quiet moments like a laugh between friends, sunlight hitting a wall, or a fleeting expression on someone’s face. This shift changed my view on life by reminding me that there is always something to take away from every moment. Photography also taught me the value of presence. When I am behind the lens, I feel grounded in the present instead of distracted by worries about the past or future. Capturing a moment requires awareness and intention. You have to truly see what is happening and feel it before you can capture it. This has helped me become more mindful in my everyday life, even when I do not have a camera with me. I now approach experiences with the understanding that each moment is temporary and worth appreciating while it lasts. Another way photography shaped my perspective is by helping me connect with people. Taking photos of others requires empathy and respect. I have learned to observe emotions, understand stories, and recognize the individuality of each person. Photography gave me a way to tell stories without words and to preserve emotions that might otherwise fade with time. It allows me to savor moments that can never be recreated and revisit them when memories begin to blur. As an artist, I hope to continue growing by challenging myself creatively and emotionally. I want to explore new styles, subjects, and techniques while staying true to the purpose that drew me to photography in the first place. I hope to push myself to tell deeper stories and capture moments that make people feel something real. Photography has taught me that life moves quickly, but moments matter. Through my growth as an artist, I want to keep honoring those moments and sharing the beauty I see in the world, one photograph at a time.
    Spark the Change Scholarship
I plan to give back to my community through entrepreneurship by building businesses that prioritize impact alongside profit. I believe entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful ways to create change because it allows individuals to identify real problems and develop solutions that directly serve people. My long term goal is to create ventures that provide resources, opportunities, and education to individuals who may not otherwise have access to them, especially young people who are unsure of their path or lack support systems. My academic goal is to study business with a focus on entrepreneurship so I can gain a strong understanding of finance, management, and strategic planning. Education will allow me to make informed decisions and build sustainable businesses rather than short term solutions. I want to learn how to responsibly grow organizations, manage risk, and lead teams with integrity. This academic foundation will prepare me to launch ventures that can scale and continue giving back to the community over time. Career wise, my goal is to become an entrepreneur who creates opportunities for others. I want to build businesses that provide jobs, mentorship, and skill development, especially for individuals from underserved backgrounds. I also hope to reinvest profits into community programs, scholarships, and local initiatives that promote education and personal growth. Through entrepreneurship, I want to create systems that empower people to believe in themselves and recognize their potential. I plan to give back by offering mentorship and guidance to aspiring entrepreneurs. Many people have ideas but lack the confidence or knowledge to take the first step. By sharing my experiences and lessons learned, I can help others avoid common mistakes and feel supported in their journey. I believe mentorship is one of the most meaningful ways to give back because it creates a lasting ripple effect. When one person is empowered, they often go on to help others. I have already taken steps to give back to my community in smaller but meaningful ways. I have supported peers by sharing academic resources, helping them organize goals, and encouraging them to pursue opportunities they doubted they were capable of achieving. I have also volunteered my time to assist others with projects and responsibilities, recognizing that even small acts of service can make a difference. These experiences taught me that giving back does not always require money but rather time, effort, and genuine care for others. Through these actions, I have learned that community growth begins with individual initiative. Entrepreneurship allows me to expand that initiative on a larger scale by creating solutions that address ongoing needs. By combining education, purpose, and service, I aim to build a career that reflects my commitment to uplifting others. Ultimately, giving back to my community through entrepreneurship means creating opportunities, sharing knowledge, and building businesses that serve people, not just profit. My academic and career goals are driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact and to use success as a tool for positive change.
    Resilient Scholar Award
I was raised in a single parent household, an environment that shaped my character, values, and perspective on life from an early age. Growing up with one parent meant learning responsibility and independence sooner than many of my peers. I witnessed firsthand the sacrifices required to keep a household running, from balancing work and family to making difficult financial decisions. These experiences taught me resilience, gratitude, and the importance of perseverance even when circumstances are challenging. My upbringing required adaptability. There were moments when resources were limited and plans had to change unexpectedly. Instead of viewing these challenges as setbacks, I learned to see them as opportunities to grow stronger and more self reliant. My parent modeled determination and commitment, showing me that success is not defined by perfect conditions but by the effort you put in despite obstacles. This foundation has influenced how I approach school, relationships, and future goals. One accomplishment that led to a deeper understanding of myself occurred when I took on additional responsibilities outside of academics to support my household. Balancing schoolwork with personal obligations forced me to develop strong time management and discipline. At first, I doubted my ability to handle so much at once. Over time, however, I realized that I was capable of far more than I believed. This realization built confidence and helped me recognize the strength that comes from responsibility rather than avoiding it. A defining moment in my personal growth came when I recognized how my upbringing had shaped my empathy for others. I began to notice how many people around me were quietly carrying burdens that were not immediately visible. Growing up in a single parent household taught me that everyone has a story and that circumstances do not define a persons worth or potential. This understanding changed how I interacted with others, encouraging patience, compassion, and respect. This realization also helped me understand my parent on a deeper level. As I grew older, I began to see the sacrifices not as obligations but as acts of love and resilience. That awareness strengthened my appreciation for hard work and reinforced my desire to create a future that honors those sacrifices. It motivated me to pursue education with purpose and to set goals that extend beyond personal success. My upbringing has shaped me into someone who values perseverance, empathy, and self belief. While growing up in a single parent household came with challenges, it also provided invaluable lessons that continue to guide me. The experiences I gained taught me that strength often comes from adversity and that understanding others begins with recognizing their struggles. These lessons have prepared me to face future challenges with confidence and to approach life with compassion, determination, and gratitude.

One problem I have personally experienced is the lack of accessible guidance for young people who want to start a business but do not know where to begin. Many students have ideas and motivation but feel overwhelmed by the complexity of entrepreneurship, the cost of mistakes, and the absence of mentorship. To address this problem, I created a small digital resource for myself and my peers that organized basic business steps such as idea validation, budgeting, branding, and goal setting into a simple and understandable format. This resource helped me clarify my own ideas and gave others confidence to take their first steps. The process of creating this solution taught me that many people do not need advanced tools to begin but rather clear direction and encouragement. However, I also realized that my small effort could be expanded into something far more impactful with the right funding and resources. If I had the money and support to fully develop this idea, I would create an online platform designed to guide aspiring entrepreneurs from concept to execution. The platform would function as an all in one entrepreneurial support system. It would include step by step learning modules that cover essential topics such as identifying a problem, researching the market, building a basic business model, and managing finances. Each module would use simple language and real world examples to ensure accessibility for users with no prior business experience. The goal would be to remove intimidation and replace it with clarity and confidence. In addition to educational content, the platform would offer mentorship connections. Users would be matched with experienced entrepreneurs or professionals based on their interests and goals. This feature would address one of the biggest challenges new entrepreneurs face, which is the lack of guidance from someone who has already navigated the process. Mentorship would provide accountability, encouragement, and practical advice that cannot be learned from textbooks alone. With sufficient funding, I would also integrate collaborative tools that allow users to connect with peers, share ideas, and receive feedback. Building a business can feel isolating, especially for young people, so creating a supportive community would be essential. Forums, virtual workshops, and group challenges would foster collaboration and motivation while helping users learn from one another. To ensure accessibility, the platform would operate on a low cost or free model for students and individuals from underserved communities. Funding would be used to develop the technology, compensate mentors, and continuously improve the platform based on user feedback. Partnerships with schools and community organizations would help reach those who need it most. This solution would not only solve a problem I have faced personally but also empower others to believe in their potential. By providing guidance, mentorship, and community, this platform would help transform ideas into action and reduce the barriers that prevent many people from pursuing entrepreneurship.

I am passionate about both sports and mentorship, and I believe in the power of youth athletics to build confidence, teamwork, and resilience. Volunteering with a youth basketball group has given me the opportunity to connect with young players, guide them in skill development, and support their growth both on and off the court. I have worked with children of all skill levels, from those who are just learning how to dribble to those preparing for competitive play. Seeing a child finally make a basket after weeks of practice or watching teammates celebrate each other’s successes has been incredibly rewarding and reinforces why I am committed to this work. Through my volunteering, I aim to create a safe and encouraging environment where every child feels valued. I organize practices, lead drills, and teach the fundamentals of the game, but I also focus on fostering positive sportsmanship, teamwork, and communication. I make a point to highlight each player’s effort and progress, not just their victories, so that they learn that growth and perseverance are just as important as winning. One memorable moment was when a shy player, who rarely spoke during practice, took the lead during a scrimmage and encouraged her teammates. That moment reminded me how important it is to provide support and opportunities for every child to find their voice. Beyond basketball skills, I strive to teach lessons that will serve them in life. Discipline, time management, resilience, and collaboration are all skills that the court naturally reinforces. I also emphasize respect—for teammates, opponents, and coaches—as a foundation for healthy relationships both inside and outside of sports. By modeling these values and guiding young athletes through challenges, I hope to help them develop confidence and leadership that will extend into school, work, and community activities. My goal is to make a lasting, positive impact in my community by helping young athletes not only improve their basketball skills but also grow as individuals. I want to empower them to recognize their potential, embrace challenges, and support one another in order to make themselves and the community better. Volunteering has shown me how transformative mentorship can be, and it inspires me to continue using sports as a tool to teach, motivate, and uplift youth in my community. By combining skill-building with encouragement and guidance, I hope to nurture a new generation of leaders who value teamwork, respect, and perseverance while fostering a lifelong love of sports.

To many, art means a brush, paper, paint, or a canvas. But to me, art is life. As a photographer, every moment is art—every feeling, every sound, every small detail that most people overlook. The birds chirping in the morning, people talking in passing, choirs singing with passion, or even the simple rhythm of chewing food—all of it is art. Life itself is art. Each emotion, from happiness to sadness, is a vivid expression of the beauty and complexity of being human. To me, art isn’t just something we create—it’s something we live. Art often goes unrecognized. Most people don’t stop to think about the everyday moments that make life meaningful until they hear the word “art.” But I see it everywhere. I express art through photography—capturing the raw emotions and real stories that often go unnoticed. I photograph the art of emotion: the hard work of athletes pushing themselves to their limits, hoping someone sees and appreciates their dedication; the quiet strength in someone’s eyes; the laughter between friends; the stillness in a moment of reflection. Photography allows me to freeze those emotions and give them the recognition they deserve. Through the lens, I’ve learned so much about myself and the world around me. Photography has taught me patience—to wait for the perfect moment when light, expression, and emotion align. It has taught me gratitude—for the fleeting seconds that make up our memories. And most importantly, it has helped me see that beauty can be found in the smallest, most unexpected places. Art through photography has kept me grounded. Whenever life feels overwhelming, I pick up my camera and look through the viewfinder. The world suddenly becomes calmer, more focused. Every picture I take reminds me that there is purpose and art in everything, even in struggle. It has also helped me build confidence, because photography gives me a voice—a way to express what I sometimes can’t say in words. My photos speak for me. They tell stories of strength, passion, and connection. Art, to me, is a concept that isn’t meant to be fully understood. It’s felt. It’s lived. Through photography, I’ve learned to make the absolute most of each year, month, week, day, hour, minute, and second of life—knowing that each moment matters. Every picture I take is a reflection of who I am and the world I see. And someday, when future generations look back on my photos, I hope they’ll see more than just images. I hope they’ll feel the life, the love, and the art that lives within each captured moment. Because in the end, art isn’t just something I create—it’s something that creates me.

Basketball has been more than just a sport for me it has been a journey of growth, resilience, and self-discovery. Through countless practices, games, and tournaments, I’ve experienced both triumphs and setbacks that have shaped not only who I am as an athlete, but also as a person. Winning AAU Championships, earning Defensive Player of the Year honors, and being recognized as the Most Improved Player are some of my proudest accomplishments, but they are only part of the story. The challenges I’ve faced along the way have taught me lessons that will continue to guide me in basketball and in life. One of the greatest highlights of my basketball career has been winning multiple AAU Championships with my team. Competing against some of the best players in the region required relentless dedication, teamwork, and trust. Those championships didn’t come easily we faced tough opponents and moments when the odds were against us. But our commitment to one another and our shared goal pushed us forward. That feeling of holding the championship trophy wasn’t just about victory; it was a reflection of the countless early morning practices, the late nights in the gym, and the mental toughness we developed together. Earning the Defensive Player of the Year award was another major milestone for me. Defense is often an underrated part of the game, but I’ve always taken pride in locking down opponents, communicating on switches, and bringing energy on every possession. That award represented more than just individual recognition it showed that my effort, hustle, and intensity were making an impact on my team. It also taught me the importance of embracing my role. Even when I wasn’t the top scorer, I learned that I could still be a leader by setting the tone defensively and inspiring my teammates to give their all. The Most Improved Player award was especially meaningful because it reflected my growth as both a player and a person. Improvement doesn’t happen overnight. There were times I struggled with confidence, missed key shots, or didn’t get much playing time. But instead of giving up, I used those moments as motivation. I started training harder, studying the game more, and seeking feedback from coaches. Slowly but surely, my hard work paid off. That award reminded me that progress is a result of consistency, patience, and belief in oneself. Throughout my basketball journey, I’ve faced challenges such as injuries, self doubt, and tough losses. Each obstacle tested my resilience and forced me to adapt. I learned that success isn’t just about talent it’s about perseverance and mindset. Basketball has taught me discipline, leadership, teamwork, and the importance of maintaining a positive attitude even when things don’t go as planned. These lessons will continue to guide me beyond the court. Whether it’s pursuing academic goals, building relationships, or facing new challenges in life, I know that the same determination, work ethic, and resilience I developed through basketball will help me succeed. Basketball has shaped me into someone who doesn’t back down from adversity and who always strives to be better than yesterday.
