My passion for the guest experience and my interest in human resources are reflected in both my short-term and long-term career goals in the hospitality sector. My short-term objective is to obtain practical experience in HR positions within hospitality organizations, event planning, and hotel operations. Since these areas form the foundation of prosperous hospitality businesses, I want to establish a solid foundation in customer service, teamwork, and employee support. In order to determine where my interests and strengths most closely match, I intend to take advantage of internships, leadership opportunities, and industry events that expose me to various hospitality sectors during my time in school.
I'm particularly concentrated on honing my time-management, organization, and communication skills—qualities that are crucial for workers in the hospitality industry. I also hope to obtain experience in hiring, employee training, and workplace development with my Human Resources minor. Strong HR support can significantly enhance customer experiences, employee satisfaction, and overall business success in the hospitality sector, which heavily depends on its workforce. My short-term objective is to develop into a well-rounded professional who is aware of both the employee-focused and guest-facing aspects of hospitality.
In the long run, I envision myself in a leadership position, either overseeing a large hospitality facility or working in corporate HR for a hotel brand or event company. I want to contribute to creating inclusive, encouraging work environments, enhancing service quality, and influencing employee culture. Creating workplaces where employees feel appreciated, heard, and inspired is one of my main objectives because how employees feel has a direct impact on how visitors feel. Teams perform better and give visitors experiences they won't soon forget when they are encouraged, properly trained, and valued.
Contributing to the industry's transformation by assisting businesses in adjusting to contemporary visitor expectations is another long-term objective. Today's visitors want individualized experiences, diversity and representation, sustainability, and authenticity; hospitality is evolving. I want to contribute to the development of innovations and solutions that satisfy these demands while upholding the fundamental principles of hospitality: connection, warmth, and service.
An essential component of my journey is my education. While my HR minor enhances my understanding of leadership, compliance, employee relations, and workplace culture, the knowledge I acquire in hospitality management will help me comprehend operations, service design, event coordination, and customer behavior. When combined, these areas will allow me to approach the industry with a people-centered, balanced approach.
In the end, I want to use my education to have a significant influence by enhancing visitor experiences, helping staff, and advancing the development of the hospitality industry. I aspire to be a leader who uses professionalism, empathy, and creativity to advance the field.
