Throughout my time in High School, I have been involved in an array of activities. In school, I am a three-sport varsity athlete being a member of the wrestling, football, track and field teams. This past year I served as team captain for both football and wrestling. In addition to being competitive on these teams, I have strived to help younger athletes through the COLT Football Chain Gang, being a Jr. High Track Meet Aide, and serving as a Little League Referee. Beyond sports, I am a member of FBLA and Skills USA. I was honored to be elected Junior Class President. Additionally, I am a member of FFA, currently serving as Chapter Secretary. Our chapter is very engaged in giving back to our community which has allowed me to help with service projects such as food drives, Youth Ag. Days and cleaning up the highways to name a few.
Beyond school I am an active member of 4-H currently serve as vice-president of the Junior Leaders Club and the Show Kid’s 4-H Club. With the skills I’ve learned, I’ve been able to mentor younger members by helping plan activities for them like Mini Showcase Showdown, project exploration days and showmanship camps. I’ve taken pride in engaging in community service projects such as Month of the Military Child, serving food at the homeless shelter, making dog toys for the local shelter, and helping build the F.E. Warren Air Force Base 4-H barn, which is the first ever 4-H barn on a military base.
Following graduation, I plan to attend Seward County Community College, continuing the sport of livestock judging, striving to become and All America Judge, pursuing an associate's degree in agriculture mechanics. Then I will transfer to obtain a bachelor’s degree. Additionally, I plan to obtain an electrical certification and a private pilot’s license. This will allow me to play a role in the betterment of the agricultural and rural communities.
My interest in getting a pilot license came from the 2023 summer when I was working for my next award-winning 4-H static exhibit poster board. I decided to aim my learning toward an agriculture operation, which I don’t normally get to be a part of. When driving home, I flagged down a combine operator, only to find it was my science teacher, Mr. Allen. After this day he definitely helped carve my degree choice. I asked if I could go along for a harvesting ride, he agreed. I was able to ride in a combine while harvesting a field of wheat and gained a network with the eldest operator of that farm. We talked about the differences and advantages associated with wheat types. One of the major issues presented was that rye had been diminishing the prices of their crops when harvested. I made my poster and received great awards. However, I was still hoping to find a solution for my new acquaintance. That following December, I found out that there was a shortage of vector spraying pilots. I am now set to become a pilot. This would enable me to spray crops, spray insects, do wildlife monitoring and be engaged in air charity programs helping those in need. I will be able to play a role in the betterment of the agricultural and rural communities. My construction management work can be the core of my income, and I can spray vectors and crops on the side since it is very seasonal work.
