I hold education above most regards in my life. I have known for much of my life that school, nonetheless college, will forever be integral to my identity. With a degree I thoroughly plan to pursue with all my effort, I can accelerate and unlock the path to my dreams. I look to forward to my college journey-knowing and understanding the world around me is what I believe to be the most effective way to improve in life.

I have recently become very interested in the current political landscape of our country and our world. My pursuit of a career in Psychology has been hindered by these recent interests. I plan to major in Global Studies at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in order to get a job in civil service. Specifically, I hope to achieve a position in either a federal or international organization with the goal of improving the quality of life of those I work with. I hope to double major with either Psychology or Sociology to better my understanding of strategies I can use in my career.
My dream is to work with the United Nations or adjacent organizations in order to improve the lives of millions rather than hundreds or thousands. With a double major in Psychology or Sociology, I look to specifically work with those affected by war, famine, abandonment, and other forms of trauma. I wish to either work individually with the affected or work towards policies that would relieve large populations of pain. With the current global events becoming more and more dire (though I hope that these events will lighten by the time I graduate), I feel that it is vital for me to work for others rather than myself.
I have been inspired not by one specific person, but rather by the educators of Becker High School who make it their goal to teach me about the true shortcomings of our community, state, country, etc. Being a member of National Honors Society has equally influenced my newfound interests in a future career involving civil service. Working with my community has enlightened me about the wonders of what it means to truly help others. I firmly expect myself to become involved with policy-making and quality-of-life oriented improvement efforts.
I hope, most of all, to make as vital of change regarding human lives as I can. I do not feel the need to reserve my efforts as I believe that drastic change is necessary to improving the lives of millions. If I must begin my career with working in a small community, I believe that to be a necessary step towards the greater good of humanity. If my career does not take me beyond that, so be it. I feel that as long as I can contribute toward a better future, I am doing this world justice. Still, I will strive to make as big an impact on the humanity's happiness as I can.
