I began working in pharmacy in 2019, just months before the COVID-19 pandemic began. Pharmacy was not a career interest at that time, but I quickly fell in love with the profession. I changed course, completed the prerequisite courses for pharmacy school, and was accepted into the Medical University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in the Class of 2026. Though exciting, the cost of tuition is daunting. I hope to receive enough financial support to continue pursuing my dream to become a pharmacist.

I believe that the argument between pro-life and pro-choice is unresolvable. On one side, you have a group of people that see abortion as a women's rights issue. On the other side, you have a group of people who see abortion as a human right's issue- where the unborn is included. Neither side is willing to budge on their beliefs because any sort of compromise would infringe on someone's rights.
Ultimately, where someone stands in regards to the issue of abortion can be boiled down to the answer to one question- is an unborn fetus an individual human? If the answer is yes, then abortion in any context is the equivalent to murder. There are no other situational considerations that can change the fact that aborting, or killing, an unborn individual human is murder. This is where I stand on the issue- abortion is always wrong. It is not a women's rights issue. It is not "your body" that you are destroying, but the body of another person.
Furthermore, the question of when life begins is always an issue in regards to when the cutoff for aborting a pregnancy is no longer okay. In my opinion, the only definite answer to the question of when life begins is at conception. Aborting a pregnancy at any point after conception is akin to murder. Any other interpretation leaves a grey area where goalposts can be shifted later and later into a pregnancy.
An effort needs to be made to prevent unwanted pregnancies in the first place. Sex education of safe sexual practice needs to be emphasized; it is not enough to tell teenagers and young adults that they should abstain from sexual relations. Discussion about sex should not be taboo, because lack of discussion leads to ignorance, which leads to poor decision making, which leads to abortion.
All life is precious. As a healthcare provider, I have met and spoken with people from all walks of life. As I grow in my role in the healthcare system, I want to show others that their lives are worth celebrating. I want to share with them just how amazing life is, both scientifically and practically. I want them to know and understand that there are many ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies that does not include the murder of another human being. Every aborted pregnancy could have been- should have been- another beautiful instance of life. Robbing the unborn of their one chance to experience life is unfair, wrong, and evil.
The issue of abortion may be unresolvable, but it is an issue that is absolutely worth getting vocal about. The unborn do not yet have a voice to defend themselves. It is my responsibility to be their voice, and defend their right to life.
