Bio

I embody the essence of a military "brat." With a childhood spent traversing four countries and six states, adaptability became second nature. Amidst the upheaval, education remained a steadfast pursuit as I navigated through ten different schools. Fueling my ambition is a dream of soaring high above the clouds, quite literally. With a passion for aviation ignited from early years spent amidst the backdrop of military bases, I aspire to don the uniform and join the ranks of the Air Force Reserves. Specifically eyeing a position with the 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, affectionately known as the "Hurricane Hunters," I aim to meld this patriotic duty with a career in commercial aviation, epitomizing a seamless blend of service and professional fulfillment. Currently charting the course towards this dream, I am pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Administration at Angelo State University, with an anticipated graduation in May 2025. Already equipped with a Private Pilot and Instrument Rating, I possess the technical acumen and dedication requisite for the skies. Grounded in my commitment to serving both nation and nature, I find solace and purpose in endeavors ranging from community service to wildlife conservation. I not only excel academically but also thrive in community engagement, exemplified through my involvement in RamAir and membership in Delta Chi Fraternity. As I continue to carve a path towards my aspirations, the sky is not the limit but rather the beginning of an illustrious journey marked by unwavering dedication and boundless ambition.

Growing up as the child of an Air Force member, I have always been surrounded by the world of aviation and leaders. Living on Air Force bases, I was constantly exposed to the sights and sounds of airplanes taking off and landing, the brave men and women who flew them, and the sense of freedom that comes from soaring high above the earth. It was during these formative years that my passion for aviation and leadership was ignited, and I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in this thrilling and dynamic field. The military lifestyle instilled in me values of discipline, dedication, and service to others, all of which are essential in the world of aviation. The courage and professionalism of the pilots and crew members I saw on a daily basis inspired me to strive for excellence and never back down from a challenge. The sense of freedom that comes from flying, the feeling of weightlessness as you break through the clouds and the thrill of the open sky stretching out before you, has always called to me. I knew that I wanted to be a part of this world, to experience the thrill of flight and to make a difference in the aviation community. That is why I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Commercial Aviation Degree Plan, Flight Operations at Angelo State University. I am dedicated to honing my skills as a pilot, learning about the intricacies of flight operations, and gaining the knowledge and experience necessary to succeed in the world of aviation. After graduation, my plan is to work as a Certified Flight Instructor to gain the flight hours required to pursue other opportunities in the aviation industry. I also plan on joining the Air Force Reserves, following in my father's footsteps and continuing the proud tradition of service to our country. My ultimate goal is to work for a major airline, flying passengers all over the world and experiencing the thrill of commercial aviation firsthand. I am proud to be a member of RamAir, serving as an events committee member and helping to organize and execute events in the community. One specific event that I was involved in was the Wings Over West Texas Air Show, where I had the opportunity to interact with aviation enthusiasts of all ages and share my passion for flight with others. Through my involvement in events like these, I am able to improve my aviation skills, network with other professionals, and work towards my ultimate goal of a career in commercial aviation. In the world of aviation, there is a famous military quote that resonates with me: "For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the sheltered will never know." It reminds me of the sacrifices that have been made in the pursuit of aviation excellence and the sense of adventure that comes from taking to the skies. In conclusion, my passion for aviation was inspired by my upbringing as the child of an Air Force member, living on Air Force bases and experiencing the thrill of flight firsthand. My goal of pursuing a degree in aviation, gaining experience as a CFI, and eventually working for a major airline is driven by my love of flying, my dedication to service, and my desire to make a difference in the aviation community. My dad, Lieutenant Colonel Herbert F. Millet III, has had quite the journey in the US Air Force. But it all started with a dare from his own father. At 23 years old, still living at home and living his best life with no responsibilities in sight, my dad was at a crossroads. He didn't have a long-term career plan in mind and was content working as a machinist during the week and fishing on the weekends. One day, my grandfather dared my dad to enlist in the Air Force, thinking it would teach him some discipline and direction. Little did he know that dare would lead to over 32 years of selfless service and a career full of achievements and accolades. From enlisting as an airman basic to becoming a soon-to-be full bird colonel, my dad's journey has been nothing short of remarkable. He has served in a variety of operational intelligence, staff, and command assignments at various levels, including deployments in support of Operations Vigilant Warrior, Joint Forge, Allied Force, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. Throughout his career, my dad has continued to excel in his education, earning multiple degrees and attending prestigious military schools. His dedication to his own professional development is truly inspiring and has played a significant role in his success. From earning his Bachelor’s and three Master's degrees to commissioning as an Air Force Officer, my dad has truly made the most of his career in the Air Force. He has trained as a RC-135V/W Information Integration Officer and has logged over 700 flight hours, including 453 combat hours. His dedication and hard work have not gone unnoticed, as he has received numerous awards and decorations throughout his career, including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, and the Air Medal with an oak leaf cluster. What started as a dare from his father has not only shaped my dad's career but has also influenced my two brothers to enlist in the Air Force and my sister to pursue a career in the Air Force JAG Corps. My dad's service has also influenced my decision to pursue a career in aviation, with dreams of joining the Hurricane Hunters out of Biloxi Mississippi. This scholarship would help me achieve my dream of obtaining my bachelor's degree in Professional Aviation from Angelo State University, ultimately leading to following in my father's footsteps as an officer in the United States Air Force. Who knows, maybe one day I'll have my own list of assignments, flight hours, and achievements to share. In conclusion, a simple dare turned into a lifetime of service and commitment to the United States Air Force for my dad, Lieutenant Colonel Herbert F. Millet III. His journey is a testament to the power of taking chances and stepping outside of your comfort zone. And who knows, maybe a dare of my own will lead me down a path of service and dedication just like my dad.
