Hi, my name is Cole Heitsenrether, and I'm from Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Since I was 5 years old, I’ve been playing with RC cars. I remember this picture of me where I was holding one of my dad’s RC cars, and it was as big or bigger than me. I drive them with my dad and still do. Since then, I have about seven that I work on, where my dad has almost thirty. This has grown into my passion for working on RC cars or actual cars. Having these experiences with my dad and family really shaped me into who I am today, how to be kind and compassionate, and how to use my skills to help others and to always have a smile on my face. The most important being my Christianity, where my family goes to church every Sunday, my favorite day of the week to hang out with my friends and learn about the word of God. Going to church gives me the opportunity to also help in the community, where I have so much fun helping others.
Working with my dad is what really grew my passion for anything mechanical, and this is the reason I want to go into the Mechanical Engineering Technology field. I have gone to Penn State Berhend and completed one of their tours, where I fell in love with the program. I was very excited to see more with the laser printers and the 3d printers. I’ve found that I not only like putting things together and fixing them, but also creating new parts or creating new answers for the problem. I would like to get my bachelor's degree because I found that with a four-year degree, you get the chance to become more hands-on.

“What are your career hopes and how do they relate to the automotive industry?”
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been interested in cars. Ever since I was in kindergarten, I played with Hot Wheels—every time we went to Walmart, I had to have one. Sometimes my dad would be the one to get one for me because he was as excited as me to get a different car. The excitement is what started this passion for me. My dad had Tamiya RC cars, and I remember how excited I was when he told me I’d be able to drive them when I got home. Waiting through the school day felt so impossible—I could barely focus on anything else.
Since then, I’ve grown into a car and RC car enthusiast. There’s nothing I enjoy more than coming home after school and driving my RC cars or working on them. Over time, this hobby has taught me so much, making me want to get out into the car community even more. Through high school, I’ve realized that my passion for cars isn’t just a hobby, it’s something I want to make a career out of.
My goal is to work in the automotive industry, not repairing cars, but going into the engineering and design field, where I can create parts for performance companies. I am also interested in designing different products for our everyday cars. It would be a privilege to work for a company like Ford or Chevrolet.
The automotive industry is constantly changing, especially with electric vehicles and new technology. I want to be part of this and plan to develop my skills by getting a bachelor’s in engineering and design at Pennsylvania College of Technology. I believe I will thrive at PCT with their reputation for hands on learning specifically in my field. I’m excited to make the vehicles we drive a better experience, and maybe even get others to join in on my passion and hobby.
Receiving the Chip Miller Memorial Scholarship would help me take the next step toward achieving my goals. It would ease the financial burden not only on me but also on my parents and it would allow me to focus on my education. I am motivated, hardworking, and passionate about the automotive field, and I am excited about the opportunity to turn what I love into a lifelong career.

I would like to get my bachelor's degree because I found that with a four-year degree, you get the chance to become more hands-on.
With these experiences in mind, my career goals include earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering technology and pursuing a role in the automotive industry, specifically in performance. I hope to work for a performance parts company, such as UMI Performance in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania.
To get to this point, I am going to work very hard; I’ve already been working very hard through high school. Some of my accomplishments include earning Honor Roll throughout high school while maintaining a 3.5 GPA and consistently working hard to achieve A’s and B’s. I have also been inducted into the 2025 National Honor Society, 2025 National Technical Honor Society, 22/23, 23/24, 24/25 – CAJSHS Academic Letter, 24/25 CCCTC Highest Honors, and 24/25 CCCTC Student of the Semester. I hope to keep some of the same accomplishments coming into college and beyond when I find a job in this field.
From a young age, I found that I enjoyed this work and that I can now work towards these goals, which is very exciting for me. With my work ethic and faith, I will do great things. With this scholarship it will help me greatly which would pay for the high amount of student loans. Thank you for your consideration and for the opportunity to improve my future.
