Ever since I was younger, I have always had a passion for art and design. I would always love to draw my favorite characters and make collages of my favorite things. This can be little flower petals on trees, cutting out magazines, and accessorizing with stickers. My love for art has never left, and I am now in my senior year of high school. During my middle school and high school years, I was told by adults around me what I should do with my life and what I should do on my career. My parents often pushed me towards the medical field, since it was deemed the best stable job in their eyes. This made me feel more and more pressured, since I didn’t know what I wanted to do then. During my 16-17 years of age, I realized that I found passion in design. As I explored and experienced more, I really enjoyed seeing other peoples' designs, and thought of doing something similar myself. I talked to my family about considering design as a possible career field. However, my father was disappointed, and my mother was strongly against it, as she always wanted me to do something in the medical field. I was often feeling down because of societal standards, and what is seen as stable careers such as engineering, law, or a doctor. This led me to feel trapped and lost about what I should do with my life. So, as I began my research within the design field, I found out about universities and colleges that have the majors that would help me for my career. I wanted to somehow put my artwork into the designs I create, and make unique creations that make me who I am. I overcame the obstacles in my way by speaking up with my counsellors, videos, and gain more experience with design. With inspiration from videos online, art, and things I see outside. I love to look at people and take references because everyone is so unique, different, and diverse. Everyone has their own stories and preferences, which I want to implement in what I do. Same with different stores, objects, and natures I get inspired. I created my own website with a theme of a fake cafe, by creating the logo, mockups, and designing the visuals. I also created countless art of my characters that gave me design ideas. I enjoy creating digital art and digital design since there are various of creativity and entertainment to explore. I was always more on the creative side and had a great imagination. I love to look up to some of my favorite artists and designers, by going to museums, online resources, and galleries that help inspire me for my career. I want to use my artistic and creative abilities in my designs where my work stands out. Although my family wasn’t exactly happy with the path I was taking, I knew myself and what I wanted to do in the future. I want to be able to show others I that succeeded, and even if there are many challenges that come my way, I am not afraid to face them. In the end, art is something I am very passionate about and want to pursue in the future. I want to not only make myself happy but to change peoples’ mindset and imagination when they view at my work.

My favorite work that I have created is this art piece, which is of my original characters. I wanted to create a universe that people can feel grasp the emotions. So, I created a dynamic pose and composition to capture the flow to better enhance the characters. This is my favorite piece because I feel that I captured the characters well, such as the pink hair girl seeming more determined and willful. While the brown hair girl seems cooler in her pose. I tried to have the colors with high contrast, and the brightest color is below the two characters, which makes the viewer's eyes towards the character's poses. Also, I make it more saturated for a more retro approach, with a noise filter for the enhanced aspect. I also put a lot of the primary colors, and a black background to make the colors pop. Having black allows the colors to stand out and further emphasize the character, which I do enjoy. I had many inspirations from my favorite artists and pieces that helps inspire and motivate me to draw this piece. I enjoy the app "Pinterest" because it helps me get my thoughts in and out onto a canvas. Also, due to Pinterest being designed to have things that you may like or similar to what you have saved, it has helped me explore a lot. I also find real-life references so I can understand the structure of the poses, or what colors that can help me. I like looking at my favorite artists and how they draw, or color their pieces, taking inspiration from what they do. Art is something very dear to me, and I feel like I can put my imagination in my head and create out there. I do enjoy the digital medium since I am fascinated by the endless amounts of tools and brushes I can try to use. I also like experimenting to see what best suits and fits my style. Another thing that inspires me a lot is through music, as I love drawing while listening to my favorite songs. If I am looking for a more serious approach or strong theme, I look for songs to suit it. I feel inspired when I look at different creations and music artist that helps elevate and bring ideas to my brain. So, listening to music personally is a big factor for me in inspiration and creativity. I also enjoy reading stories, like Manwhas, which is a digitally drawn comic that has various different stories. This can be mystery, horror, action, and thriller, which also help emphasize my stories and help me with creating a comic myself hopefully in the future. Furthermore, I had inspiration from my other artist's friends and how they worked their crafts. Also, advice on creating a story helped me create a composition that fits the characters. As the story goes the two characters have power and trying to defeat the "amborgs", which can be seen as aliens, from the universe they created. The more things I know and put into a character, I feel like the more I am able to draw out what I want better. This helps inspire me and allows me to create a better piece. Also, it motivates me to draw more of the characters and meaning behind the illustration I create. I feel like that to me makes art have a special place in my heart and makes my workflow easier. The art piece is recent but is currently one of my favorite pieces because of all these factors that helped me improve.
