I am a graduating senior in high school who aspires to be a food scientist. I love cooking and baking, and science has always been a strong subject for me, so it just makes sense. I want to do more with my life than just work in a lab though. I want to make a difference in the world by helping stop America's obesity epidemic. With heart disease being the leading cause of death in America, something has to change, and I think that should start with educating people about what they are truly eating and having standards for the way food is prepared and sold. I also enjoy serving in my community, because nothing brings me more joy than helping those in need. Every Sunday I volunteer at my local church, mentoring a group of 5th graders who I have mentored since they were in kindergarten. I also volunteer in my community at service opportunities such as the river clean-up and cemetery wreath laying. At school, I have always striven to be the best I could be academically. I have a 3.93 GPA and take honors and AP classes. I have been in Beta Club since middle school and am currently in the National Honor Society. I also enjoy the arts, as I have played violin in my school orchestra since 6th grade and am in the top-level ensemble. In my free time, you can find me on the track. I have ran track and cross country for 5 years and am currently the team captain at my school. I am going to go to Kennesaw State University to run track and cross country next year. Dorms aren't cheap, which is why it would mean the world for me to get a scholarship of any size!
