#Back2SchoolBold Scholarship
I believe what inspired my #Back2schoolbold moment was the pressure to find the funds needed to continue my education. I had to go out of my comfort zone and seek for resources that could provide me the support I needed to successfully succeed in my career goal and still be able to continue my education with no financial worries or distress coming from it. My parents inspired me the most to continue pursuing my education and have supported me day in and out to succeed in my career without permitting no obstacles interfere between it. Being a first generation student with immigrant parents allowed me to be more thankful and grateful for everything around me and take full advantage of the resources offered to help college students. Overall my parents showed me strength and determination through themselves, my parents coming from nothing to a new state, different language, environment and still risking it all to provide me with a better future was truly motivating. I want to provide my parents the life they deserve and retire them from the long years of hard labor. Therefore to receive financial support would mean the world to me and my parents.
Bold Wise Words Scholarship
“Sometimes when things are falling apart they may be falling into place” I often thought when things in my life were going wrong it was the end of the world or at least it sure felt like that. I was blinded to see other opportunities offered to me right in front of me. I had to learn to trust the process and let things fall apart to have everything come together. I needed to learn that nothing I wanted was going to come easy in life and instead they were going to feel the most difficult and impossible. This wise saying taught me to be grateful and more appreciative of myself for overcoming the countless challenges that I stumbled across. Failing shouldn't be seen as a failure but instead should be seen as a life lesson to learn from. Observing and taking everything you didn't do correctly to fix your mistakes and do better next time. I believe failure is needed to learn life lessons you would've never learned if you didn't fail first. In college reflecting on this wise saying helped me stop being so hard on myself and accept my failures as things to learn off of to better myself.
Bold Generosity Matters Scholarship
Generosity to me is giving to others without asking for anything in return, to show act kindness to someone with the pure intent of wanting the best for that individual. Showing others that you want to be helpful by not just giving things but by offering things that could be beneficial to them mentally, financially, etc. I believe that being generous goes beyond giving materialistic things, it is to be an individual who wants to lend a hand to others when it's needed with the wholesome purpose of wanting their wellbeing. In conclusion, I believe generosity comes in different shapes and forms but most importantly it is to help others with authentic compassion, understanding, and respect from the heart and soul to want the best for that person. A great example of generosity is wanting to use one's natural nurturing personality to help others in need. As a nursing student, I can say that I have always wanted to bring the best into the medical setting and find ways to better the medical environment for diverse patients. I want to provide other Latino-speaking patients the opportunity to have a Latina-speaking nurse who could communicate with them in their same native language. I want to be a voice not only for Spanish-speaking patients but other diverse ethnic groups as well, by advocating the importance of more diversity in hospital settings. Show interest to find ways to better understand the demographics of the patient, offer seamless communication and understanding for the patient's unique struggles. Seeking ways to better the quality of care of the patients shows generosity as a nurse to find ways to provide the best quality of care. Overall, I aim to become the nurse that stops the spread of insidious structural racism, subconscious implicit bias, inequality, and, external discrimination.
