    Dr. Samuel Attoh Legacy Scholarship
Legacy is a big deal to me. It's all about what shapes us and how we impact the world. So, when I think about legacy, I can't help but reflect on my own upbringing. It's been a major influence on the path I've taken in life. Now, as I look ahead, I'm determined to carry on the positive parts of my heritage, while breaking free from anything that might hold me back. To me, legacy is more than just what we inherit or achieve. It's the intangible stuff—the values, beliefs, and traditions handed down through generations. In my family, legacy means resilience, compassion, and a hunger for knowledge. Those things have shaped who I am and where I'm headed. How My Upbringing Set the Stage: My upbringing has been the foundation for my dreams. I grew up in a close-knit community where education was highly regarded. I saw firsthand the impact it can make and how important it is to have support. My parents busted their backs to ensure my siblings and I had opportunities for growth and a good education. They taught me to cherish every chance I got, to never give up on my dreams, and to lend a hand to those in need. My upbringing has played a massive role in the choices I've made so far. I've always believed that education holds the key to unlocking potential, so I've thrown myself into academics and extracurricular activities. But it's not just about me. My family taught me to make a positive difference in the world and to give back to the community. That's why I'm involved in volunteering at local shelters and mentoring programs. I want to help those facing challenges similar to the ones I grew up with. I take pride in the positive aspects of my legacy, but I also know that there may be some negative patterns that I need to break free from. I recognize that certain mindsets or circumstances can hold us back. So, I'm actively seeking to challenge norms and embrace different perspectives. With the help of mentors and by charting my own course, I'm determined to break free from any limitations tied to my family's legacy. By being true to myself and pursuing my passions, I hope to inspire others to do the same. Legacy is an ongoing journey of self-discovery and growth. It's about tradition, personal values, and leaving a mark on the world. My upbringing has given me a solid foundation—it's showed me the importance of education, resilience, and community service. I'm committed to carrying forward the positive parts of my legacy, while breaking down any barriers that might hold me back. I want to create a legacy of my own that inspires others to embark on their own transformative journeys.

With an insatiable thirst for knowledge and a passion for intellectual pursuits, Ravenclaw embodies my values, aspirations, and strengths. Intellectual Curiosity:Ravenclaw is renowned for nurturing intellectual curiosity, and this quality lies at the heart of who I am. By embracing the depths of knowledge and channeling my intellectual curiosity, I will continue to grow as a Ravenclaw and make an enduring positive impact on the world.
    Alma J. Grubbs Education Scholarship
Education has always been a source of passion for me. As a child, I saw first-hand the transformative power of learning and how it can change a person's life for the better. For as long as I can remember, I have been curious about the world around me and eager to explore all that it has to offer. This curiosity has driven me to pursue higher education and become a lifelong learner. Throughout my academic journey, my teachers have played an instrumental role in shaping my beliefs, relationships, and career aspirations. Their guidance has instilled in me a deep appreciation for education as a means of personal and societal growth. Moreover, they have taught me how powerful human connections can be, especially within the context of learning. My first-grade teacher, Mrs. Gonzalez, stands out as one of the most impactful educators in my life. Her kindness, patience, and unwavering encouragement helped me build my confidence as a young student. She made it clear to me that she believed in my potential, even when I struggled with my coursework. Her support gave me the courage to keep trying and the motivation to strive for excellence. In high school, my English teacher, Mr. Wilson, challenged me to think critically and to push myself beyond my academic comfort zone. Through his class, I discovered a passion for literature and writing that I didn't know I had. His dedication to his craft inspired me to consider a career in education, so that I too could ignite that same passion in future students. As I plan to enter the teaching profession, I am acutely aware of the impact that I can have on my students' lives. My goal is to create a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, empathy, and critical thinking. I believe that the most successful classrooms are those that prioritize human connection and foster a sense of community. One of the ways that I plan to leave a lasting impact on the students I teach is through mentorship. I firmly believe that mentorship can be a powerful force for positive change in a student's life. By developing one-on-one relationships with students, I hope to provide them with the guidance and support that they need to thrive academically, personally, and professionally. Ultimately, my passion for education stems from the belief that it has the power to transform lives and communities. I am grateful for the educators who have molded me into the person that I am today and am excited to pay it forward as a teacher in my own right.
    Pool Family LGBT+ Scholarship
As a black man who is a part of the LGBTQ+ community, I have experienced both the joys and struggles of living in my truth. The LGBTQ+ community has always been a vital part of who I am, and it has helped me become a better person, both personally and professionally. Growing up in Georgia, I experienced a lot of discrimination and stigmatization. I was constantly told that being gay was wrong, and that it was something I should be ashamed of. This kind of negativity can weigh on you after a while, but it also motivated me to become a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and to make my mark in this world. One of my aspirations is to become a marketing analyst in order to help others understand and appreciate the LGBTQ+ community. As someone who has experienced discrimination firsthand, I know how important it is to have accurate and positive information about who we are. I hope to use my skills in marketing to promote awareness and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community, both within Georgia and beyond. Another career goal of mine is to use my position and influence to help create opportunities for young LGBTQ+ people in Georgia. I understand what it's like to grow up feeling isolated and unseen, and I want to be a source of encouragement and support for those who may be struggling with their sexuality or gender identity. I believe that by advocating for LGBTQ+ youth and creating a safe space for them to be themselves, we can help create a better, more inclusive future for everyone. In order to achieve these goals, I have taken steps to be an effective advocate within my community. I have volunteered extensively with local LGBTQ+ organizations, attended rallies and protests in support of our rights and freedoms, and held informal discussions with friends and family members to help them understand the importance of LGBTQ+ issues. In conclusion, being a black gay man in the LGBTQ+ community has given me a unique perspective on the world, and has helped me become a more compassionate, empathetic, and driven individual. My career goals and aspirations reflect my desire to use my experiences and skills to help others, and to make a positive difference in the world. I believe that with hard work, perseverance, and a commitment to our shared values, we can create a better future for everyone – regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other personal characteristic.
Kim Moon Bae Underrepresented Students Scholarship
As someone who's gay, black, plus size, and freakishly tall, I've had to deal with my fair share of haters and nay-sayers. People seem to love to put others into boxes and slap labels on us, like we're products on a grocery aisle. But I'm proud to say that I'm the perfect cocktail of characteristics that don't quite fit the mold. Being one of the very few gay black men is no joke. It can feel isolating at times, especially when I see others in the queer community struggling to accept me just because I'm black. It's like, "Really?! We're trying to rise up against oppression and still can't get our own house in order?!" But despite the petty dramas, I've found some amazing friends who know what it's like to be LGBTQ+ people of color. We ride for each other, and that's what counts. Then there's my plus size body. I know the world loves to act like bigger folks aren't as attractive, healthy, or worthy as everyone else, but I'm not having it. I spent far too many years feeling ashamed and like I didn't belong. But the truth is that my size doesn't stop me from doing anything. I can hike, run, and dance just as well as anyone else. And I'm proud to not only love my body but also inspire others to do so. Being freakishly tall draws attention like nobody's business. People ask me how the weather is up here or if I play basketball. You know, the usual. But I've come to accept that being tall is just part of who I am. It doesn't define me, but it's definitely a conversation starter. And who knows, maybe one day I'll finally get into basketball and surprise 'em all. Despite my efforts to embrace my identity and be proud of who I am, it hasn’t always been easy to shake off the negative stereotypes and limitations that society has placed on people like me. There have been times when I’ve felt like I didn’t belong or fit in certain paths I wanted to pursue, simply because of my abnormalities. For example, there have been times when I’ve hesitated to pursue certain careers or hobbies because I didn’t think I fit the mold of what society deemed “professional” or “acceptable”. But I’ve come to realize that my unique qualities truly are my strengths, and they make me stand out in the best way possible. By being authentically myself and celebrating my individuality, I know that I can create the life I want and achieve my wildest dreams. Through all of these experiences, I've learned to embrace my unique identity and use it as a source of strength and pride. I may be different, but that's what makes me special. And as I move forward on my path, I know that my identity as a member of an underrepresented minority population will continue to impact my experiences and opportunities. But that's okay. I'm excited to see where life takes me and how I can make a positive impact on the world around me.
    Taylor Swift ‘1989’ Fan Scholarship
Taylor Swift’s ‘1989’ album is a masterpiece of musical storytelling, artfully weaving together different themes and emotions to create a cohesive whole. Each song on the album is a journey in its own right, taking listeners on a voyage of self-discovery and growth. However, one song from the album stands out above the rest, not only because of its infectious beat, but also because of the resonance of its lyrics. “Welcome to New York” is a song about new beginnings and clean slates, two universal themes that are as old as time itself. As I listen to the song, I am transported to a world of endless possibilities and new opportunities. The lyrics speak to my heart, reminding me that every new day is a chance to start over and pursue my dreams. At its core, "Welcome to New York" is a celebration of the power of new beginnings. As I listen to the song, I am struck by the sense of excitement and wonder that comes with exploring uncharted territory. The opening lines of the song perfectly capture this sentiment: "Walking through a crowd, the village is aglow / Kaleidoscope of loud heartbeats under coats". These lines paint a picture of a vibrant city teeming with life, a place where anything is possible. As someone who has recently experienced a major life change, I find myself relating to the lyrics of "Welcome to New York" on a deeply personal level. Like many people, I have struggled with the uncertainty of new beginnings, the fear of the unknown, and the feelings of doubt and insecurity that often accompany major life changes. However, whenever I listen to "Welcome to New York," these negative thoughts and emotions are washed away, replaced by a sense of possibility and excitement that brightens my day. To me, "Welcome to New York" represents a state of mind, a way of seeing the world as an open canvas, ready to be painted with the colors of our choosing. The song reminds me that we have the power to shape our own destinies, to chart our own courses in life. The lyrics "Like any great love, it keeps you guessing / Like any real love, it's ever-changing" speak to the exciting uncertainty of new beginnings. As I reflect on my own life, I realize that "Welcome to New York" has been a constant source of inspiration and motivation, reminding me to embrace new opportunities and challenges with an open heart and an open mind. It is a song that has helped me to grow and evolve as a person, teaching me to let go of the past and to embrace the present with joy and enthusiasm. In conclusion, "Welcome to New York" is more than just a great pop song; it is a testament to the enduring power of new beginnings. The song celebrates the excitement and wonder of exploring new territories and the hope and inspiration that comes with starting fresh and creating something new. As I listen to the song, I am reminded of my own journey, of the many challenges and triumphs that have made me who I am today. And I am filled with a sense of joy and gratitude for all the opportunities and experiences that lie ahead, just waiting to be explored.
Academic Liberty & Free Speech Scholarship
The freedom of speech is a fundamental right in American society, and its significance in developing the intellectual and personal capabilities of college students is undeniable. College is the time when individuals begin to shape their identities both personally and professionally. It is a time when they develop their critical and independent thoughts, challenge established norms, and create meaningful relationships. Free speech is essential during this time because it encourages diversity of thought, creativity, and robust debates that lead to progress. Preserving free speech is critical because it is a cornerstone of American democracy and academic excellence. It ensures that opinions can be expressed without fear of censorship or persecution, thus creating an environment that fosters intellectual curiosity and exploration. Furthermore, free speech contributes to the development of a diverse and inclusive campus, encouraging students to respect each other’s opinions, cultures, and beliefs while engaging in rigorous debate and critical thinking. As a business major specializing in marketing, I can attest that free speech plays a significant role in developing marketing and advertising strategies. The freedom of speech allows us to exercise our creativity to promote ideas and products while remaining transparent and honest. When businesses are free to express themselves, they can better understand their customers’ needs and preferences. As a result, this leads to informed consumer choices, promoting trust and brand loyalty. Scholarly research in the field of marketing is also regulated by ethical standards such as the American Marketing Association’s Code of Ethics, which places the principles of free speech at its core. As a student council member, free speech has been instrumental in fostering critical thinking, creativity, and inclusivity. The student council encourages constructive and responsible free speech among student leaders to exchange diverse perspectives, ideas, and solutions. Palaniappan Chidambaram once said, “Diversity in opinion, unity in action”- a sentiment that informs the student council’s activities. Through our monthly meetings, brainstorming sessions, and thoughtful discussions, we foster a culture that encourages students to develop their leadership skills, challenge their classmates, and engage in campus-wide decision-making. Such efforts positively impact the college culture, promoting inclusivity, openness, and nurturing ideas that benefit all students. In conclusion, the freedom of speech is a crucial aspect of any college experience. It serves as a vital tool in shaping personal and intellectual identity, strengthening democracy, driving innovation, and fostering inclusivity. As a business major specializing in marketing, I recognize its importance in building trust, ethical standards within the industry, and encouraging transparency. Similarly, as a student council member, I have seen first-hand what thoughtful and constructive free speech can do to promote diversity of thought, critical thinking, and action. Thus, it is imperative to preserve free speech because doing so promotes a more informed, engaged, and inclusive society.
    CEW IV Foundation Scholarship Program
In today’s world, there are still numerous individuals and communities that are struggling with difficult challenges every day. From poverty to homelessness, discrimination, and inequality, the disadvantaged face numerous obstacles to achieving success, happiness, and stability. Despite the many strides that have been made over the years in addressing these issues, it’s clear that there’s still much work to be done. In my view, society must change its approach to addressing the problems of the disadvantaged if we are to achieve true progress and create a more just and equitable world. One of the main reasons that I believe this approach is necessary is that the current system is simply not working. Despite countless efforts to provide relief and support to those in need, many people continue to suffer in silence, feeling invisible, disempowered, and hopeless. Children go hungry at night, families struggle to pay their bills, and individuals battle addiction, mental illness, and other challenges with nowhere to turn for help. It’s clear that something needs to change, and that a more comprehensive, inclusive, and systemic approach is needed. Another reason that I believe that it’s necessary for society to change its approach is that we all have a moral obligation to help those who are less fortunate. We live in a world in which the vast majority of resources and power are concentrated in the hands of a few, while millions struggle to make ends meet. It’s simply not right that so many people should have to suffer while others enjoy lives of luxury and leisure. By changing our approach and working together to address the problems of the disadvantaged, we can create a society that is fair, just, and equitable for all, and that reflects our shared values of compassion, empathy, and social responsibility. At the heart of this moral obligation is the imperative of solidarity, that is, our recognition of the interdependent nature of human life and our commitment to standing with those who are vulnerable, marginalized, or oppressed. We are all connected to one another, whether we acknowledge it or not, and the fate of one is intimately linked to the fate of all. When we extend our support, solidarity, and goodwill to those who are struggling, we not only alleviate their suffering but also strengthen the bonds of trust, respect, and cooperation that hold our societies together. Finally, I believe that changing our approach to addressing the problems of the disadvantaged is necessary because doing so will benefit us all. In addition to the moral imperatives of helping our fellow human beings and promoting solidarity
    Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
Mental health has been a significant challenge in my life, and it has shaped both my personal and professional ambitions in more ways than I can articulate. For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with anxiety and depression. It has affected my relationships, my academic performance, and my overall wellbeing. But it has also taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of mental health advocacy, which have become central tenets of my identity. My experience with mental health has undoubtedly influenced my beliefs on the topic. I now understand that mental health is just as important as physical health. And I believe that mental illness should be talked about openly and honestly, without stigma or shame. For a long time, I was ashamed of my condition, thinking I was alone in my suffering, and that it was something to be ashamed of. However, I soon realized that mental health is something that affects many people, and that by talking about it, we can normalize the conversation and initiate change. I am troubled by the fact that there is still so much stigma surrounding mental health, and that many people still don’t have access to the care and support they need. This only compounds the difficulties that people with mental health challenges face, making their struggles more challenging than they need to be. As a result of this, my experiences have been instrumental in fostering my commitment to advocacy, and to work towards dismantling these barriers that prevent people from seeking the help they need. My relationships have also been significantly impacted by mental health. I have had to learn how to communicate my struggles with friends and family and seek their support without feeling guilty or ashamed. At first, I found it challenging to open up and be vulnerable with others, fearing that they would judge me or dismiss my problems. Much to my surprise, however, I found that the opposite was true - that by opening up, I was met with empathy and compassion, that encouraged me to seek the professional help I needed. My experiences have also allowed me to empathize with others who may be struggling with their own mental health challenges and offer them support and understanding. In my own struggles, I’ve come to appreciate the power of self-care and the importance of cultivating healthy habits. I started an exercise regimen, started journaling, and made an effort to prioritize sleep, good nutrition, and mindfulness practices. They all helped me become more resilient and able to deal with life’s stresses with greater equanimity. As far as my career aspirations go, my experiences with mental health have inspired me to pursue a career in psychology. I want to help others who are facing similar challenges and provide them with the tools and resources they need to live fulfilling and happy lives. I also hope to be an advocate for mental health awareness, break down barriers to treatment and work with communities to promote mental health and wellbeing. Additionally, I plan to go beyond the traditional one-on-one therapy model to create group psychotherapy and workshops, where people experiencing similar problems can come together, share, and grow. Such endeavors aim to create a safe zone and kindle the sense of community and shared purpose. Moreover, it would allow people to feel seen and understood in a way that individual therapy may not always achieve. I am inspired by the potential of social media and the internet as a platform for collective efforts to promote mental health awareness, fight stigma, and initiate long-term conversation on the subject matter. Additionally, incorporating technology-based platforms (such as apps– web-enabled programs that focus on delivering CBT, mindfulness, and other similar interventions) can increase the dissemination of mental health tools and resources to a wider population. Such initiatives can prove especially beneficial in areas where people face difficulty in accessing mental health services. Overall, my experience with mental health has been difficult, but it has also been enlightening. It has shown me the importance of empathy, understanding and advocacy, both personally and professionally. By pursuing a career in mental health and supporting others who are going through similar experiences, I hope to make a difference and help alleviate the stigma surrounding mental health challenges. My goal is to show that life is dynamic and that happiness can be attained not by avoiding struggles but learning to manage them effectively.

    @normandiealise #GenWealth Scholarship
Generational wealth means more than just passing down money or assets to the next generation. It involves a long-term plan for financial stability and prosperity for multiple generations. To me, generational wealth means creating a foundation for my future family that allows them to pursue their dreams, without the burden of financial insecurity. I come from a family where money was always tight. Growing up, I saw my parents struggle to make ends meet and provide for my siblings and me. Despite the challenges we faced, my parents always instilled in us the value of hard work and the importance of pursuing an education. These values have stuck with me and pushed me to work hard to achieve a prosperous future for myself and my future family. To achieve generational wealth, I know that I need to start by educating myself on financial literacy. This includes understanding the various investment options available and developing a plan to make smart investments that will help grow my wealth over time. I have started attending financial literacy seminars and taking courses on personal finance, as well as seeking advice from financial advisors to help guide me on this path. I am also exploring real estate investment as a viable option. Unlike stocks or other forms of investments that are more volatile, real estate offers a stable source of passive income that appreciates over time. My goal is to acquire properties that I can rent out and generate regular streams of income, which can be re-invested or saved for future generations. A crucial part of my plan for achieving generational wealth is creating a budget that ensures I live within my means and have the financial resources necessary to make investments that will grow my wealth over time. This includes limiting unnecessary expenses and setting aside a portion of my income for long-term investments. Another important aspect of my plan for building generational wealth is building a network of like-minded individuals who share my goals and can offer advice and support. I am actively seeking out opportunities to network with other young professionals who are focused on building financial stability and creating long-term generational wealth. In conclusion, generational wealth is about more than just having money, it’s about creating a legacy of financial stability for future generations. I am committed to educating myself on financial literacy, investing wisely, and building a network of like-minded individuals who can offer support and advice as I work to create a foundation of financial prosperity for myself and future generations. It’s a long-term goal, but with persistence, dedication, and smart investments, I am confident that I can achieve my goals and build a legacy of financial stability for my family.
Lo Easton's “Wrong Answers Only” Scholarship
    1. I deserve this scholarship because I’m black, gay, and poor. The perfect minority cocktail. You decide. 2. My academic goal is to graduate college with a degree in marketing. My career goal is to hopefully get a drop that puts that degree to use. If not I’ll become a teacher or something. 3. An obstacle I had to overcome was the obstacle of not letting the “college is a scam” stuff get to my head. It was rough and trust me…its grip was tough. I still believe it’s a scam, but I really want a shiny bachelor’s degree frame in my apartment living room.
