Higher education is the gateway to opportunity and change. For many, it’s a chance to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to make a meaningful difference in their community, their field, and the world. As a young person, I’ve always believed that education is not only a tool for personal growth but also a catalyst for social change. I am committed to using the education I receive to improve the lives of others, particularly in aviation and community development. However, financial barriers have always been a challenge, and this scholarship holds significant meaning as it would alleviate some of the costs of pursuing my goals.
My dream of becoming a professional pilot is rooted in my desire to achieve personal success and inspire others to reach their dreams, regardless of their background. Growing up, I didn’t always have the financial means to pursue aviation, but my passion never wavered. I’ve worked hard in the service industry to save for flight school. The challenges I’ve faced taught me resilience, and I understand that success isn’t always easy, but it’s worth it. This scholarship would help me focus on my studies and career without the financial burden that comes with it.
Beyond my career as a pilot, I want to give back to the community, especially to those from underrepresented backgrounds in aviation. When I succeed, I want to create opportunities for others, particularly young people from low-income families, to enter the aviation industry. As I continue my education, I plan to volunteer with programs that encourage youth in aviation, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). By sharing my journey, I hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams.
Additionally, I am committed to serving my community in various ways. I’ve been involved in mentorship and tutoring programs aimed at helping younger students stay on track academically. Through these efforts, I’ve seen how mentorship can uplift individuals, giving them the confidence and resources to succeed. In the future, I plan to continue working with organizations that support students in underserved communities. These efforts will help create an environment where young people can thrive, building a stronger future for everyone.
This scholarship would significantly support my educational journey by easing the financial burden and allowing me to focus on making a difference. The education I plan to pursue will not just be a personal achievement; it will be an opportunity to lift others and create pathways for their success. I am passionate about using the skills I acquire in aviation to promote diversity and inclusion in the field, and I hope to positively influence the next generation of young people.
I am committed to making a positive impact in the world, and this scholarship would be a step in the right direction to turn my aspirations into reality. With the right education, I know I can contribute to my community and society in meaningful ways. I am determined to continue pursuing my dreams and use the opportunities I gain to help others.

"Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." These words by Ralph Waldo Emerson have always resonated with me. They embody the spirit of innovation and independence, the core values that have driven my own journey of making a difference in my community. Throughout high school, I have been committed to using my skills and knowledge to create opportunities for those who may not have the same advantages or access to resources. As someone who is passionate about supporting marginalized and underserved populations, I have initiated several projects that aim to break down barriers and ensure that everyone has a fair chance to succeed.
One of the most impactful projects I’ve been involved in is a tutoring and mentorship program for middle school students in my community who are facing academic and social challenges. These students, many of whom come from low-income families, were struggling to stay on track with their studies, particularly in subjects like math and science. After recognizing the growing need for academic support, I decided to take action. I collaborated with a group of peers to design a tutoring program specifically tailored to the needs of these students. We focused on not only helping them with homework but also fostering a sense of self-confidence and empowerment.
As a mentor, I worked with students one-on-one to address their unique challenges, providing them with personalized support. We also organized group study sessions that encouraged collaboration, allowing the students to learn from each other in a supportive environment. Through this program, I saw first-hand how mentorship can transform a young person’s life. By providing these students with the tools and support they needed, we were able to help them improve their grades and gain a renewed sense of hope for their future.
In addition to tutoring, I also created a community outreach initiative to address food insecurity in underserved neighborhoods. I worked with local food banks and community organizations to organize monthly food drives, providing healthy, nutritious meals to families who needed them the most. My team and I used social media to spread awareness about the issue and encourage others to get involved. We also partnered with local businesses to secure food donations, ensuring that our efforts reached as many families as possible.
Through both of these projects, I have learned how essential it is to take initiative and create solutions that directly impact the needs of marginalized communities. These experiences have deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by underserved groups and have motivated me to continue using my skills and passions to help others.
Moving forward, I plan to continue pursuing projects that support marginalized populations, particularly in education and community development. I believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty and creating opportunities for future generations. I hope to use my college education to further develop my ability to advocate for and serve underserved communities, whether through community organizing, social justice initiatives, or educational programs.
This scholarship would greatly support my goals by allowing me to further my education and expand the work I have already started. I am committed to continuing to build a future where all individuals, regardless of their background or circumstances, have the resources and support they need to achieve their dreams. Just as I’ve worked to leave a trail for others to follow, I hope to continue blazing paths that lead to greater equality and opportunity for all.

As I stand on the runway, the engines roar to life, and the world below begins to shrink as the plane takes off. It’s in those moments, when I’m soaring above the earth, that I feel the weight of my purpose. Aviation is not just a career for me—it’s a passion, a dream, and a tool to change the world. Growing up in Georgia, I’ve learned that it’s not just about where you go, but about how you use your journey to impact others. I want to inspire the next generation to reach for the skies, just as I have.
Currently, I’m actively involved in my community through volunteering at local schools and mentoring students who are interested in aviation. I believe that representation matters, especially in fields like aviation, where diversity has historically been lacking. By sharing my story and experiences with these students, I hope to show them that they can overcome obstacles and pursue their dreams, no matter what challenges they face. This work has shown me the power of mentorship and how it can change someone’s life trajectory. I plan to continue this kind of outreach as I progress through my college education and into my career as a pilot, reaching more students who may not have thought about aviation as a career option.
In college, I intend to build on my community involvement by expanding my mentorship work, particularly focusing on helping young people discover the value of education and how it can open doors to endless opportunities. I want to help them see that education is not just about acquiring knowledge—it’s about learning to navigate the world, solve problems, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. I also plan to get involved in local organizations that provide opportunities for students to gain exposure to aviation and other STEM fields, ensuring that the next generation of pilots, engineers, and innovators has the tools and resources they need to succeed.
Ultimately, my goal is to use my career in aviation as a platform to serve others. I want to travel the world, meet people from different cultures, and use my experiences to inspire and empower others to chase their own dreams. I hope to contribute to a future where young people—especially those from underserved communities—feel empowered to explore all that the world has to offer. The scholarship from Trees for Tuition would help me continue my education and make these plans a reality. It would alleviate some of the financial burdens that come with pursuing higher education, allowing me to focus on my studies, training, and community service.
In conclusion, my commitment to community service and giving back will remain a central part of my life as I pursue my education and career. By continuing to mentor, inspire, and uplift others, I plan to make a lasting impact on my community and the world. This scholarship will not only help me reach my educational goals but also enable me to continue building a future where I can contribute to positive change.
Treye Knorr Memorial Scholarship
Growing up, I often found myself staring out the window, imagining the future and the limitless possibilities that awaited me. But my dreams were not just about personal success. From an early age, I knew that my purpose was to make a difference in the world. Whether it was through my future career in aviation or my involvement in my community, I’ve always believed in the importance of contributing to something greater than myself. As I pursue my goals, I am reminded of the impact that my family and mentors have had on me, and the kind of legacy I want to create in honor of those who have supported me along the way.
My journey as a high school senior has been one filled with both challenges and triumphs. The road has not always been easy, but through hard work, discipline, and determination, I’ve maintained a 3.87 GPA, balancing dual enrollment courses at Kennesaw State University with my training in aviation. I’m not just preparing for a career—I’m preparing for a life of service and community engagement. Every step of my educational journey has been a building block toward my ultimate goal: to become a commercial pilot and contribute to the diversity of the aviation industry.
I am passionate about aviation because it represents a combination of adventure, responsibility, and opportunity to serve others. The ability to travel to different places, experience new cultures, and help connect people across the world is something that excites me deeply. But I also see aviation as a platform for positive change. As a future pilot, I want to serve as a role model for young people, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, to show them that their dreams are possible, no matter the obstacles they may face.
This scholarship is crucial for my continued journey toward my goals. College costs continue to rise, and as a student with limited financial resources, I face the challenge of funding my education. The support from this scholarship would ease the financial burden and allow me to focus more on my studies and training, ultimately helping me achieve my dreams of becoming a commercial pilot. More importantly, it would allow me to continue pursuing my commitment to my community. I have been fortunate to receive mentorship from individuals who have shown me the importance of giving back, and I intend to pay that forward by inspiring and mentoring others along the way.
Just as Treye Knorr’s family is honoring his legacy, I strive to honor the memory of those who have influenced me by living a life of determination, faithfulness, and community contribution. In every endeavor, I aim to be steadfast in my pursuit of success while remaining grounded in the values of service, integrity, and perseverance. I want to contribute to the world in meaningful ways by helping others reach their own dreams, just as others have helped me reach mine.
In conclusion, this scholarship would not just support my educational goals—it would also propel me toward a future where I can make a lasting impact on my community and the world. Through determination, faithfulness, and a commitment to serving others, I plan to honor the opportunity that this scholarship provides by dedicating myself to achieving my dreams and helping others achieve theirs.
Mark A. Jefferson Teaching Scholarship
From the moment I took my first flight lesson, I knew I had found something special. The excitement of soaring above the ground, the thrill of taking control of an aircraft, and the endless possibilities that aviation offered made me realize that this was the path I wanted to follow. However, what made the experience even more unforgettable was the way my instructor made it fun and engaging, showing me the joy of flying and teaching me the skills to be a safe, confident pilot. This moment planted a seed in me: one day, I want to become a flight instructor and make aviation just as exciting for future pilots.
As an educator, my goal is not just to teach the technical skills of flying but to ignite a passion for aviation in every student I have. I believe that learning should be a fun and exciting experience. Flying is a skill, but it’s also an adventure, and I want to inspire every student to approach their lessons with enthusiasm and curiosity. Just as my first instructor made every lesson feel like a new adventure, I plan to bring that same energy and excitement to my future students. I want them to feel the joy I felt when I first took control of an aircraft and help them build the confidence to push themselves to new heights.
The impact I want to make through my career as a flight instructor extends beyond just technical skills. I want to be a mentor, someone students can trust and look up to for guidance. Flying requires both physical and mental strength, and I want to help my students develop not only their flying abilities but also their self-discipline, resilience, and problem-solving skills. My goal is to help them become confident pilots who are not only skilled in the cockpit but also confident in their ability to handle challenges.
I also hope to inspire students from diverse backgrounds to pursue aviation. Growing up, I didn’t always see people who looked like me in aviation, but now that I’m actively pursuing this career, I want to show others that they too can reach for the skies. I want to create an environment where every student, no matter their background, feels welcome, encouraged, and empowered to succeed.
Through my career as a flight instructor, I plan to make a positive impact on the world by shaping the next generation of pilots. I want to teach students not only the technical aspects of aviation but also the importance of passion, perseverance, and mentorship. By providing a fun, supportive, and inspiring learning experience, I hope to pass on the excitement and joy that aviation has given me to those who will carry it forward.

From a young age, I’ve always been fascinated by flight. I remember sitting by the window during car rides, watching planes soar high above me, and wondering what it would feel like to be in control of something that powerful. It wasn’t just about the thrill of flying—it was the idea of breaking boundaries, reaching new heights, and being part of something larger than myself. My passion for aviation began with those childhood daydreams and has since grown into a clear and steadfast goal: to become a pilot and eventually work for a major airline.
The turning point for me came when I was introduced to flight school. I took my first lesson and was hooked immediately. The experience of controlling an aircraft in the sky was exhilarating, and the challenge of learning all the technical aspects of aviation captivated me. What began as an interest turned into a commitment, and now, pursuing an aviation degree is the logical next step in my journey. I know this is more than just a career choice for me—it’s a calling, a path that I am deeply passionate about, and one that I am ready to dedicate myself to.
With my aviation degree, I plan to pursue a career as a commercial pilot. My ultimate goal is to build seniority and become a captain at a major airline, like Delta, where I can contribute to the world of aviation while ensuring safe and efficient flights for passengers. I also aspire to be a role model for young aspiring pilots, particularly young Black pilots who may not have had the same opportunities or representation in aviation. I want to help pave the way for others to follow their dreams in the field of aviation, just as I have had mentors and role models guiding me.
Throughout my journey, I have been actively involved in my community, sharing my passion for aviation and motivating others to consider it as a viable career path. I volunteer at local schools, hosting career talks and giving young students the chance to meet someone who is actively working towards their aviation goals. By offering mentorship and guidance, I hope to show them that pursuing a career in aviation is possible and that they too can overcome challenges to reach their dreams. Additionally, I’ve been part of various programs that aim to increase diversity in aviation, and I’m committed to continuing this work as I move forward in my career.
Pursuing an aviation degree is about more than just learning to fly. It’s about becoming a part of a legacy of innovation, excellence, and adventure. It’s about reaching for the skies, challenging myself to grow, and inspiring others to do the same. My community involvement and dedication to aviation go hand in hand, and I look forward to continuing this journey, both in the air and in my efforts to bring more diversity and opportunity to the field of aviation.

Growing up in a small Jamaican household, I learned early on that every success is built on a foundation of hard work, discipline, and unwavering belief in oneself. I remember sitting at my grandmother’s kitchen table as a child, watching her cook the most delicious curry goat, rice and peas, and plantains, and thinking to myself, “This is more than just food. This is love, culture, and tradition passed down through generations.” Those moments shaped my understanding of what it means to be Jamaican. Our culture is rooted in perseverance, pride, and resilience. These are traits that have guided me throughout my life.
Watching the Olympics as a child, I became inspired by Jamaican athletes like Usain Bolt and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, whose determination and energy on the world stage made me believe that I too could achieve greatness. Their races weren’t just about speed. They were about overcoming obstacles, facing challenges head-on, and never giving up. I wanted to emulate that strength and commitment. I began running, not just for the competition, but as a way to push myself to do hard things. Their success gave me the mental fortitude to believe that no challenge was too great for me to tackle. Their discipline inspired me to channel that same focus into my education and personal goals.
But it wasn’t just my love for the Olympic athletes that shaped me. My grandmother, with her wisdom and loving discipline, played a significant role in molding my character. I remember when I struggled with schoolwork, feeling frustrated and defeated. My grandmother would look at me with kind but firm eyes and say, “Don’t give up. The world won’t give you what you want. You have to work for it.” Her words stuck with me, and I worked harder to overcome challenges, whether it was in academics or personal growth. She showed me that success didn’t come easily. It was earned through patience, sacrifice, and a strong will.
The heart of my Jamaican heritage lives in those moments. Whether it was watching athletes represent our island with pride or sitting at the dinner table, surrounded by the warmth of my family, these experiences instilled in me a sense of pride, a love for my roots, and a drive to succeed. They taught me to rise above difficulties, push my limits, and always strive to be my best.
Attending college is the next step in honoring my heritage and pursuing my dreams. It’s about more than just earning a degree. It’s about carrying my culture with me and making my family proud. College is where I can build a future where the values of hard work and resilience that my Jamaican heritage taught me can propel me toward success. I want to show young Jamaicans and Caribbean kids that their dreams are achievable through hard work, discipline, and pride in their culture.
Being Jamaican has shaped who I am today and continues to inspire me to rise above challenges. I carry those values with me every day, and college represents an opportunity to honor my past while shaping my future.

Growing up without a father left a gap in my life that I didn’t always know how to explain. As a young boy, I didn’t just want someone to play catch with; I needed someone to show me what it meant to be a man. Someone to teach me how to stand tall, how to lead with character, and how to handle life when it gets tough. That’s when my grandfather stepped in and became the example I needed.
I remember one moment in particular that changed everything for me. I was around 12 years old, frustrated and angry after being cut from the middle school basketball team. I came home and slammed the door, ready to quit and convinced I wasn’t good enough. That’s when my grandpa called me out to the backyard. He didn’t say much at first. He handed me a rake and pointed to the leaves scattered across the lawn.
We spent the next hour working in silence. Then he looked over at me and said, “Son, life’s not about what happens to you. It’s about how you respond. You didn’t make the team, so what? Are you going to let that stop you, or are you going to keep showing up until they can’t ignore you?” That moment stuck with me for life. From then on, he guided me through every challenge I faced, teaching me how to carry myself like a man even in the face of disappointment.
He showed me that manhood isn’t about being loud or tough. It’s about consistency, integrity, and responsibility. He taught me to shake a man’s hand with confidence, to keep my word, and to respect myself and others. My grandfather led by example, waking up early, working hard, and putting his family first every single day.
My mom was equally essential. She worked long hours to provide for me and never complained. Even when things were tight, she made sure I had what I needed and always reminded me of my worth. Together, my mother and grandparents created a loving, disciplined environment that prepared me for success.
Their support has shaped me into who I am today. As I pursue my dream of becoming a Delta Air Lines captain, I carry their sacrifices, their love, and their wisdom with me. I strive to honor them by staying focused, working hard, and eventually helping guide other young men like me toward a brighter future.
