Bio

Teaching has always been a passion of mine because I have always felt at home in school. As a student, I enjoyed the process of learning and exploring new ideas. I found myself naturally drawn to helping my family members understand difficult concepts and even trying to assist with homework. The feeling of satisfaction I received from seeing someone else grasp a challenging concept inspired me to pursue a profession in teaching. My aim is to create a comfortable and engaging learning environment for my future students, just like the one I experienced as a student. While I am still continuing my education, I have never thought of changing my career choice, and I am forever grateful to all the people who helped me get this far.

I have to say, the reason I love Minecraft isn't because of how much I love the gameplay. I love Minecraft for various reasons, from the exploration to the building. I don't usually even play to beat the game, I love to build, farm, and play with my friends. The game resonates with me for reasons beyond just me playing it. I met my best friend because of Minecraft and watched many people play the game, I grew up with this game. For me, Minecraft is a part of my life. However, if I had to choose, building is my favorite part. I honestly love building, a lot. When my friends and I play, I often find myself being the one to build the house we live in. I'm not the best builder, so I don't build castles and such, but I love figuring out the structure of the house, using Pinterest to find inspiration for my builds, and I love the feeling of finishing the build. One time, my friends and I were playing and I had just discovered a new way to build a roof. So, I ended up building a house with a roof that was taller than the house! I recently started a new world with a friend, and though I haven't built a house yet, I finally braved a ravine. I died a few times (skeletons are the bane of my existence), but it wasn't the worst experience. The Cave's and Cliff's update made the caves way scarier than before. I used to strip mine, (essentially digging into the earth rather than finding a cave to explore) but I think the ravine was much more fun to dig into anyway. The game keeps updating, and I think my favorite part of the new update is the new kinds of wolves! Anyway, Minecraft is a game that is constantly updating, and to hear that it's been out for almost 15 years was shocking. I can't wait to continue playing this game with my friends, and maybe we can reminisce together about how Minecraft impacted us collectively.
    Anime Enthusiast Scholarship
I have got to say Black Butler or Kuroshitsuji. It's an anime following the story of Ciel Phantomhive, a 12-year-old boy who has inherited his family's responsibilities following his parent's unexpected death. We find out when the anime starts that his parents died in a fire, he has a demon butler and has 4 other servants along with him. Ciel is under a contract where he gives his soul to Sebastian (the demon butler) in exchange for finding out how his parents were murdered and to help get revenge for it. I first watched it when I was 13, back in middle school. Despite the questionable scenes, my love for the anime never disappeared. The characters are diverse, a mix of supernatural and mortal characters. I'm talking about characters like Grell who is a transgender woman, or Mei Rin, who's farsighted and a former assassin. The series also has a constant surprise in store. In the first episode, the manor receives a guest, who's hoping to milk Ciel's company of his moneyworth. Ciel, already knowing this plan decides to invite him to a game he invented. Ciel starts playing the game with him, and each move in the game depicts something terrible happening to the guest. Thing's like his leg being broken, or being cooked in an oven. In a dark turn of events, all of the things mentioned in the game happen to the guest. He does break his legs, and Sebastian locks him into an oven. Although these things happen, he's later found leaving the manor in fear, limping away. However, that's not where the surprises end. Every episode is one surprise after the other. Each season has its arc, this one in particular is where Ciel finds out how his parents die, where he ends up finding out about Grim Reaper's, helps a prince from India find his fiance, and finds out the person who murdered his family is a Fallen Angel who goes by the names Angela. My favorite season is Season Three, or the Book of Circus. This season, Ciel is to investigate the constant disappearance of children all over Britain. Their main suspect happens to be a circus troupe, and Ciel and Sebastian go undercover to gain information. After joining the circus, they train for the shows, eventually finding out that something is going on. They are invited to visit the orphanage that the troupe grew up in and are forced to watch the dismemberment and torture the kidnapped children go through. Ciel, reminded of his past starts panicking and orders Sebastian to get rid of the evidence, leaving everyone involved to die. While leaving the scene, Ciel is confronted, being told that the other members of the troupe are off killing his servants. In this way, we find out that Mei Rin, Bard, Finnian, and Tanaka are not ordinary servants. Having been underestimated, they get rid of the other troupe members with their respective skills. Mei Rin and Bard shoot them, Finnian uses super strength to crush them, and Tanaka uses his martial strength despite his old age to get rid of them. In the end, Ciel is able to keep what happened a secret. Words can not describe how much I love this anime, and I'm quite excited for the Public School Arc. I've decided to wait until the season finishes before I watch it, but I'm so happy to see that the Anime is being continued. I also plan to rewatch the whole thing before watching the Public School Arc. Either way, I plan to continue watching Black Butler!

As an English Education major, I find that the idea of teaching children is a long and arduous journey. Especially the youth themselves. As a teacher, I would only have a short time to inspire and nurture creativity. In that time, I would need to plan how to implement everything I could. I think to do that students should be way more incorporated into the lessons that are taught. Just like the students, the lessons we teach should feel alive. When I do graduate, I plan to teach on the basis of activity. Not just reading and writing. I won't strive for normality, I want my students to discover new cultures, new idea's. So that they can form better opinions, understand thing's from different perspective's, and have open mind's toward every given situation. I want to teach them to question everything, and be curious no matter how anyone says they should feel. Let them feel what they read and write, and help them out every part of their view. I'd wish for them to carry these things with them, even after they graduate and move on to adulthood. I want them to know each other, and get to know a vary of perspectives from each other. Beyond that, I want to teach them to share their stories, whether that be a book they read, something they wrote, or something they want to talk about. To do this, I would help them write stories with unfamiliar character tropes, teach them how passionate an essay can be, have them work together, switch up how they write their papers. I wouldn't limit them to written assignments, presentations and other forms of creativity would be used. I'd make sure they'd create work they can be proud of, just as I want them to walk across the stage and think of how proud of themself they are. I want them to be fueled with hope, curiosity, ideas, and a plan of what to do from then on. That way, everything they know can mean much more than it would have if they hadn't.

I see a classroom where my students find reading fun and not just some chore. Students deserve to feel joy when reading. I do not believe students should have to "suffer" while reading. As I am going to become an English teacher, I believe that students should benefit from reading, and implementing that into a classroom is more difficult than it should be. You need to understand why reading isn't "fun" to the students. Figure out their interests and realize that not everyone prefers the same genres as everyone else. Everyone is different, that makes it difficult, and you have to work with that. In my future class, I plan to implement a student-centered approach to reading instruction that caters to the interests of my students. Reading can improve many things, including academic progress, and even lifelong problems. Students have a hard time engaging in stories they don't relate to, or ones that don't have an enticing storyline. Discovering engaging activities to support students' learning can greatly enhance their overall experience. For instance, engaging in group reading or playing games (such as popcorn reading) can effectively enrich their educational journey. Numerous benefits arise from incorporating reading into students' lives. These include an increase in confidence when reading and speaking, the cultivation of focused and concentrated skills, and the advancement of critical and analytical reasoning. It is therefore crucial for students to develop a love for reading not only for the gratification it brings but also for its positive impact on academic and long-term success. To grow a love for reading, a student-centered approach is mostly effective. This includes identifying the preferred genres of the class, encouraging students to ask questions, and facilitating meaningful discussions about the books they have enjoyed or are looking forward to reading. By allowing them to take charge of their reading choices and actively engaging them in the reading process, students are more likely to develop a genuine interest in reading. Accordingly, implementing a student-centered approach to reading instruction is effective for making reading enjoyable for most if not all students, and improving their reading, comprehension, and other practical learning skills. Overall, it is essential to recognize that reading can bring immense joy and play a crucial role in learning. As a future English teacher, it is my responsibility to understand my students' unique interests and preferences in reading. This approach not only respects their individuality but also empowers them to take control of their own learning journey. The end goal is to enhance their reading skills, build their confidence, and foster critical thinking. The power of reading goes beyond academic benefits and can even assist in overcoming lifelong challenges. Creating a love for reading is not just about immediate pleasure, but also about equipping students with valuable skills and leadership for their future success. I plan to implement consideration and care of my students into what they learn.
    Taylor Swift ‘1989’ Fan Scholarship
Taylor Swift's fifth studio album, "1989," released in 2014, marked a new era for the pop star as she transitioned from country music to a more pop-infused sound. The album is filled with catchy tunes and memorable lyrics, but one song that has always stood out to me is "Wildest Dreams." From the moment I first heard it, I was hooked. There are several reasons why "Wildest Dreams" has become my favorite song from the album. First and foremost, it is incredibly catchy. The melody is infectious and gets stuck in my head for days on end. The song is beautifully produced, with a dreamy, ethereal quality that draws you in and keeps you captivated until the very end. Taylor's vocals are also on point, and her delivery of the lyrics is both emotive and captivating. Another reason I love this song is its style. The combination of the synth-heavy production, the soft, breathy vocals, and the melody create a unique sound that sets it apart from the other tracks on the album. The song's style is also reflected in its lyrics, which tell the story of a bittersweet love affair that is fleeting but intense. Taylor Swift is one of my favorite artists, and I can never get tired of her music. Her ability to tell stories through her music is unparalleled, and her songs have a way of speaking to listeners on a personal level. "Wildest Dreams" is a perfect example of this. The lyrics are relatable, and the emotion that Taylor infuses into the song is palpable. The way she sings the chorus, "Say you'll remember me, standing in a nice dress, staring at the sunset, babe," is particularly moving and captures the feeling of a moment that you never want to forget. As someone who loves to write, I also appreciate the way that Taylor's lyrics are crafted. They are poetic and clever, with just the right amount of detail to paint a vivid picture in the listener's mind. The bridge of "Wildest Dreams" is a perfect example of this: "He said, 'Let's get out of this town, drive out of the city, away from the crowds.' I thought heaven can't help me now. Nothing lasts forever, but this is gonna take me down." In conclusion, "Wildest Dreams" is not only my favorite song from Taylor Swift's "1989" album, but it is also one of my all-time favorite songs. The combination of its catchy melody, dreamy style, and relatable lyrics makes it a standout track that I can never tire of listening to. As someone who loves music and appreciates the art of songwriting, I admire Taylor's ability to craft such an emotional and memorable piece of music.

As the daughter of a small business owner, I have always been passionate about helping my mom's business grow. When I suggested creating social media accounts for her business, my mom was hesitant at first. She has always struggled to see benefits in certain situations. She did not have much knowledge of social media marketing and did not see the value in investing time and money into it. However, I knew that social media was an effective tool to reach potential customers and increase brand awareness. To help her, I took a film class in my school curriculum so that I could teach her how to take photos of her products and showcase them on social media. I even created a logo for her business to give it a more professional and recognizable look. With my help, she and I created social media accounts and she started posting to expand her marketing. She now engages with customers by responding to their comments and messages and even did catering for a small event. Seeing the positive impact of social media on my mom's business inspired me to do more. If I had the money to do so, I would fund non-profit organizations that help the community. I believe that investing in the community is just as important as investing in my mom's business. By supporting non-profit organizations, I can make a positive impact on society and help those who are less fortunate still have a future. Everyone deserves to have a life, and a chance to thrive and grow. However, I would not forget about my mom's business. I would also invest in her business by hiring more employees, expanding her product line, and opening more stores. I would help her open a restaurant so that she could succeed in her dreams. By investing in her business, I can help create more job opportunities, increase revenue, and create a positive impact on the local community. In conclusion, helping my mom's small business grow has taught me the importance of investing in both personal and societal growth. By using my skills and knowledge to create social media accounts and promote her business, I was able to help her reach more customers and increase her revenue. Additionally, I believe in giving back to the community by funding non-profit organizations and investing in my mom's business to create job opportunities and make a positive impact.

Growing up, education was always emphasized in my family. As the eldest of my siblings and my cousin, I felt a responsibility to set an example and pave the way for her future success. When my younger cousin (9) approached me for my thoughts on college, I was excited to help her explore the many opportunities that awaited her. Despite being a high school senior and not having started college yet, I knew that I could still inspire her. I shared with her the many professions that can change lives, such as doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, social workers, and non-profit organizations. I explained to her how each career has a unique role in the community and how they make a positive difference in people's lives. I talked to her about how becoming a doctor could help people live longer while being a lawyer could help those who are wronged receive justice. I explained how teachers inspire and educate future generations and how engineers solve complex problems that improve our daily lives. Additionally, I shared how social workers and non-profit organizations can help people who are in need of support and resources. I also shared with her my own plans for college. I had already been accepted into a college and planned to major in education with a minor in creative writing. I explained to her how I hoped to use my degree to become a teacher and inspire future generations to pursue their passions. I also shared how my love for writing allows me to create innovative and engaging ideas for my future students. Furthermore, I shared with her the many resources available to help her achieve her goals. I explained how scholarships, grants, and student loans could help her pay for college, and how programs offering internships and hands-on experience could give her a head start on her career. By the end of our conversation, I could see the excitement and motivation in her eyes. I had inspired her to pursue higher education and explore the many opportunities that awaited her. I was proud to have played a role in her decision and felt confident that she too will make a positive impact in the world through her future career. In conclusion, inspiring my cousin to attend college was a rewarding experience. Despite not having started college yet, I was able to showcase to her the many professions that can change lives and the resources available to help her achieve her goals.
