Bio

As a black woman and single mother it is important for me as an entrepreneur to be successful for my daughter. I currently own a small spa located in Marietta Ga, I also hold a full time career with United Health Care. It is important for me to further my education so that I may hold the credentials necessary to operate a full medical cosmetic spa as a physician assistant and company founder. My dreams are to make my future clients feel beautiful and comfortable in their own bodies, their own skin. As a survivor of domestic violence I know how easy it is to lose confidence in yourself and how that can be reflected through your appearance. Although it took me a decade to leave my abusive husband and find my confidence I found it liberating to finally look at myself in the mirror and be happy, and confident in the woman I saw. My passion is to ensure others obtain optimal health, have access to managing their weight and enhancing their beauty naturally so that they may also look in the mirror and love the person they see staring back at them. I have worked as a medical assistant and nurse since the age of 17 and have always enjoyed caring for others, my greatest experience is having patients tell me they are happy with their health, the way they feel on the inside and happy with their appearance.

As a survivor of domestic violence and almost losing my life last year due to domestic violence I have become a single mother to my beautiful four year old daughter. My goal in life is to make my child proud of me as a strong black woman and domestic violence survivor. With that being said, last year I decided to reenroll into school at the age of 29 to obtain a doctorate degree in pharmacy and a bachelors degree as a physician assistant. I also decided to start my own business as a spa owner. My vision is to offer my community access to a health and beauty spa which assists clients of obtaining optimal health through homeopathic medicine, and confidence in their appearance by enhancing their natural beauty and physique through noninvasive procedures. The city of Atlanta is known for its love of cosmetic surgical procedures I want to stand out by offering people the expectations they desire from surgery without undergoing surgical procedures. Furthering my education and obtaining the two degrees I seek will create credibility with my clients by ensuring them that I have the educational experience to advise them on their journey to looking and feeling healthy and beautiful. I hope to be awarded funds so that I may focus solely on excelling in school. Being a full time student, single parent, entrepreneur, and holding a full time career is beyond stressful at times, but the constant worry of how to cover expenses for college can be discouraging. These funds would allow me the privilege of peace of mind while I focus to complete my education, which would allow me to feel proud of myself as a mother and survivor of domestic violence, and make my child proud of me.

As a black woman who has been discriminated against due to the color of my skin, my business purpose is to uplift other black women to feel confident in themselves and fight for social equality in the cosmetic medical field. In conclusion I hope to be awarded funds so that I may have an opportunity to focus solely on excelling in school while obtaining my degrees, instead of stressing on how I may afford to continue my education while struggling to make ends meet as a single Mom and entrepreneur. I hope to encourage other black women to stay strong and pursue their dreams, despite the obstacles we all face.
