Bio

My life goal is to pursue my passions while contributing back to my community. I hope to do this as a Speech and Language Pathologist. I am a graduate student at Emerson College studying for my Master of Science in Communication Disorders. A few months ago, I decided I need a career change. After 2 years in my role, I quit my job in corporate sales and started working with autistic students as a Registered Behavioral Therapist. I did this to gain experience while applying to a graduate program. Now that I've been admitted, I need help funding it! While in school, I hope to volunteer in my community to gain important and relevant experience as a speech pathologist. During this time I will need to gain skills in all areas of speech pathology and I plan to work in both a hospital and school setting. After earning my degree, I want to work in a hospital to diagnose and assess eating, swallowing, and speech disorders in adults and pediatrics. I also want to give back to my community and volunteer in underfunded schools and communities to make therapy and speech resources available to students who cannot afford private therapy. I am applying for scholarships to focus my time on studying and volunteering in my community rather than working through school. I will be relying on financial aid, scholarships, and grants to fund my school and living expenses. Here are a few of my favorite personal finance tools that help me track, budget, and save! 1) Mint Budget, track, and most of all, understand your finances through this easy-to-use app. My favorite feature is that Mint breaks down my assets, debts, and investments to calculate my net worth. This is especially helpful when understanding assets, debts, and investments and how they contribute to your net worth. 2) Blog: 'YourMoneyWorth" by Melisa Boutin is a great blog because it focuses directly on student loans, and Melissa helps students understand their repayment options. 3) Broke Millennial by Erin Lowry is a great book for well... broke millennials. Erin does a great job relating to every millennial's struggles while trying to pay off debt and save for the future. This book is related to all 20 -30 somethings.
