Social justice is meant to fix the issues society has related to fairness and equality. there is a plethora of social justice problems that affects all kind of people all over the world, but the ones that stand more to me are environmental justice and income disparity. In my opinion, these two issues are related and are crucial to fix for both now and future generations. To begin with, environmental justice have to do with the personal well-being and this is extremely important to help people live better. For instance, if the air has pollutant and people need to walk and breathe that, this is extremely dangerous for them, not only now but also for the following future generations not to be born with life-threatening illnesses. In addition to this, it is a scary reality that this worldwide problem may be worsening storms and causing irreversible consequences to the planet overall. Secondly, income disparity is equally important to me and these are related since our homes environment have an impact on our livelihoods. Someone who lives in a non-pollutant area is less likely to tend a lower-income job, since he or she lives in a healthier place and can be therefore better served to find a good worker position. To conclude, as proved by the connection above, these two certain issues go together and they are vital to solve for all of us and the next generations too. Environmental justice means that all people – regardless of race, ethnicity, or income – should be treated with dignity and respect, and have a meaningful opportunity to participate in developing, implementing, and enforcing environmental laws. It also highlights the fact that poor and minority communities all over the world will suffer the bulk of environmental toxins without the opportunities to enjoy the advantages of a healthy environment, such as clean air and water, or access to wise and sustainable use of natural resources. The result is greater rates of asthma, near-daily exposure to toxic assaults, and other inequities that can seriously harm people’s quality of life and financial welfare. Climate change promises a doubling down on these environmental injustices: it worsens inequality, and now promises to engulf many vulnerable parts of the world with rising seas, killer heatwaves, violent storms, unpredictable monsoons, the mass migrations these can produce, and the social unrest that follows. While income inequality assesses how wealth and resources are allocated within society, it is characterised by unequal wages, educational and healthcare opportunities, as well as limited economic mobility. Persistent income inequality prevents social cohesion, fosters cycles of poverty, and undercuts opportunities for upward mobility. In addition to these considerations, income inequality also results in exacerbated food insecurity, inadequate living conditions and limited access to justice. Both environmental justice and income inequality are connected with other issues of social justice, such as racism, gender equity and systemic injustice, and so we need to look at them holistically, rather than as narrow issues in isolation, to capture the totality of the lived experiences of people. It is important for us to start advocating for policies and programmes that produce equitable and healthy sustainable communities. Social justice advocacy might involve grassroots activism; policy advocacy; community organising; challenging dominant and harmful narratives; or amplifying the voices of those harmed by social injustice. Advocacy efforts might aim at reforming unjust policy practices and structures, shifting societal norms, mobilising public awareness and support, or raising the cry against failures of justice.

Since childhood, I have experienced the effects of poverty to hinder my educational learning. Born into a family that lacks financial resources, I got a realization that learning provides a medium for the wealthy to get higher education, and those with lesser resources are deprived of higher education. In this way, the long shadow of poverty creates an important obstacle for students to understand what is what and what is not. The influence it has had on my educational experience has been threefold: Everything my family’s financial status may have hindered me from experiencing could have contributed towards a well-rounded education, like trips, extracurricular activities, and special courses. Due to a lack of sufficient funds, I’ve felt disconnected from my peers and the educational world as a whole. An undercurrent of stress about tuition fees, textbooks, and other charges creates an endless number of what-ifs, like what if I’d had the money to attend the trip This also made it difficult for me to concentrate on my studies. But I stayed and kept working on my studies. Prospects of scholarships became my light in the pitch dark. They were, however, few and far between. Some could be snatched but I believe everything happens for a reason. Being awarded money promises a future not only for me but also for my family. It will be a future free from financial constraints that I, and later my children, would not have if it weren’t for a scholarship. On a scholarship, I would have the ability to explore more avenues of learning, participate in extracurricular activities, and further develop my interests. I would have the freedom to pursue my passions without having to worry about the stress of finances. A scholarship also offers the resources to excel academically, gaining an opportunity to reach my potential to achieve my dreams. I aspire to be a videographer and photographer who captures wonderful events and people through a lens. This is a goal of mine that not only benefits me personally but also has an impact socially. The scholarship provides the opportunity to undertake more academic programs, meaningful job experience, and a chance to positively give back to society by making breakthrough discoveries, innovative and versatile solutions, and community outreach. In conclusion, relative to my budget for education, financial limitations have been a handicap, but scholarships embody a route to possibility and even freedom of action. With a scholarship, I will be able to actualize my dreams and make a difference in the world.

Since I belong to a family from a poor background, my way of studying is full of obstacles and hardships. The limitation of wealth has made my mind unable to focus on my studying tasks only. I have had many hardships in my way of life in different aspects. The shortage of money in our family left a long shadow on my life but I'm overcoming it. That's also has been a major obstacle to my way of studying. It made me unable to concentrate on school and gave me many worries. Despite these hardships, I continue studying. Because it is the way to get out of poverty and create a bright future for myself. The financial constraint brought by my family's poor economic condition affected my studying appearance in many ways. Born in a poor family put me at a disadvantage in education since there was no way to enroll me in additional courses to cultivate my potential, such as extracurricular activities, study trips, special courses, and so forth which could not only broaden my vision of mine, but also augment my strength for studying. Matter of fact, the anxiety caused by tuition fees, textbooks, and other educational expenses for my parents always distracted my concentration on study. Amid all these obstacles, we, scholars, can’t help but hope through some scholarships that we can go on with our life and that is, pursue higher education if we are financially unable to do so. A scholarship in this aspect would not only help me feel financially burdened but also allow me to realize my potential to the fullest by providing me with materials that would enable me to fully engage in my academic journey. As someone whose financial status hampers his ability to achieve his academic goals to the fullest, I can assure you that, since I know for sure that my attention will not be divided by paying bills, I will allocate more time and energy to my studies. I will also be able to explore as many learning materials as possible. Thus, I will be able to take full advantage of my academic abilities. Furthermore, this scholarship will give me a boost in achieving my dream of someday becoming a Photographer and videographer. The financial support will enable me to pursue higher education, participate in research programs, and get field experience which in turn will help me to acquire the knowledge and skills I need for my future career. I can thereby make a difference in my profession and contribute to the greater society. With my dream of being a big-time photographer and videographer, I aim to do something beyond just working for my prospects. I seek to do something I’m passionate about, and with it, contribute to a positive change in society for the better. My work shall be used to inspire the younger community by showing them they can do it too. I believe that the power of education will help me realize my dream while a scholarship opportunity would provide me with valuable opportunities to show my aspiration of making this world a better place. In brief, while financial restrictions hounded a big part of my education, the scholarship will form the way and the highway for me to overcome these dreadful challenges to fulfill my dream and also reach for the sky. With scholarship as the complementing arm for me to make my education and hope a reality, I forged ahead to be the exemplar and the torch bearer for success in the future.
    Jim Maxwell Memorial Scholarship
It is not just an academic or professional opportunity; it is also an opportunity to overcome, to never say ‘die’, and to achieve what I have been working towards for so long. Above all, this opportunity holds meaning to me as an ending, specifically, as the result of years of sacrifice, working hard, and believing in myself. My story is about overcoming adversity with faith. Growing up was not easy for me, I strayed off the right path several times. Often there was really little talk of faith except for the occasional ‘say a prayer when you go to bed’. Sometimes I used to wonder if I believed in God because I certainly wanted to. Young as we were, we often feel that life is hard and that it may not get better. The reason we can make it is because we believe in better things. Faith carried me through the valleys, hovered near when I was able to see just the tip of the mountain, and cheered me onto the ledge when I had the breath to spot the sky. Faith pulled me through when the sea disappeared from my reach, and drifted me when it appeared to take everything else with it. Friends and family turned away, but faith stayed. Faith gave me the strength to get up each day after the dissolution of a marriage and the loss of a treasured career. Faith held this family together long after everyone wanted to split. I prayed, meditated, and turned back to this faith, and faithfully relied on divine providence. After all, my faith has been key in the way that I’ve succeeded thus far. My faith has been my pillar of strength, marked by hope, and has helped me achieve. Through faith, I’ve been able to overcome impossible barriers, overcome the glass ceiling, and defy the odds. But my path is not over. As I look onward, I’m promising myself that, guided by that faith, I will keep climbing to even greater heights – because faith, in the end, isn’t just something that you feel inside your head when you wake up on a Saturday morning and you swim or play tennis. It is active. Faith isn’t passive. Faith gives you something inside of you when it’s time to take a knee or rush the plate or run the 40-yard dash, when it’s time to march through the troops, to soar like an eagle in combat, when it’s time to raise your voice in song, dance, inspire, serve, to do justice, love mercy, walk humbly with your God. I will continue to lean on my faith as a source of strength, wisdom, and discernment., In the pursuit of my goals, I will hold a spirit of resilience believing that God’s grace is sufficient to preserve me during every season of adversity. Lastly, I will continually seek to honor God with my whole heart, using the talents He has given me to empower, encourage and be of service to those around me. To summarise, I think this opportunity is surprisingly important besides the fact that it is the beginning of a new path and a new career, it's a hope we get reminded from time to time in the holy bible that with faith can move anything that what so ever implies, its been a road less chosen so far, but somehow faith bring me previously this far n nothing will stop this nor change, faith is my number one point of dependency.
    Nintendo Super Fan Scholarship
As we all feel nostalgic about the good old days of gaming and the early Nintendo console, I’d like to remember one game in particular as the golden goose of multiplayer titles – Super Smash Bros Melee. It was not only a ton of entertainment but also brought families and friends together with some of our most memorable moments. Super Smash Bros. Melee was a lightning-quick game featuring a geeky all-star team of Nintendo characters pummelling each other into oblivion, smashing around stages full of environmental hazards and antics, in what quickly turned out to be the greatest party game of all time. Melee’s shining star was undoubtedly its two-player cooperative mode, spawning whole friendships, rivalries, and, eventually, tournaments. There is one memorable moment from a multiplayer session that sealed ‘Super Smash Bros Melee’ as my favorite co-op game of all time. While on vacation with some friends in the middle of summer, we were killing time at my house in the mid-afternoon heat. Grabbing some controllers and snacks, we launched right into the insanity of some Smash brawls. Players formed and then betrayed alliances at breakneck speed, and the room rang with cheers and catcalls Whenever someone won the accolades, laughter, and new jests. We awaited each match intently, never sure who would win or when exactly the next battle would begin. But in a particularly brutal 4-player free-for-all, we were reduced to two. I battled only my friend to the finish, in front of a gallery of silent spectators. We squared off, exchanging punches, kicks, and spectacular special moves, until there was only one. As the epic battle came to a close, it turned around. I was victorious. I finally mortally wounded my opponent, sending him flying off the screen. A wave of cheers and applause rang out in the room. I had dominated this one. Instead of a look of resentment or disappointment, my defeated friend flashed a big grin and gave me a fist bump of good sportsmanship and brotherhood. It was then that I knew which of my games was the best to play in co-op. Beyond its exciting gameplay and colorful cast, the game also fostered friendships, breeding a camaraderie that transcended player versus-player games. Where players could come together and defeat an enemy in a classic two-on-two fashion, or combat each other and see if the best of the best takes the crown. This game provided the thread that linked us all together through memories that held strong for years to come.

    “The Office” Obsessed! Fan Scholarship
There is a character in The Office for nearly every viewer, it seems. Mine is a character who seems so familiar to me that it is uncanny. At first, I thought it was Michael Scott but then I realized he is not, because Jim Halpert, the prankster paper salesman, is my doppelgänger. Even from the first season – when Jim was still part of the West Coast sales office – we saw a capable, competent, intelligent individual visibly, painstakingly ‘sold-out’, bored beyond belief, and for whom the moments of joy were to be found in the petty irony of small rebellions and black humor: the deadpan stare to the camera; the stifled giggles; the innocent-killing minor pranks (on Schrute). My identification with Jim’s moodiness resides in his ability to laugh at petty things, and especially in his facility for the ‘prank’. Jim reflects our own sense of the shameful, ridiculous aspects of the corporate realm, of ‘office life’ as an intellectual dead-end and soul-sucking hell. His quick retorts and sardonic comments provide comic relief; as we cringe along with him, he serves as a reminder not to take the absurdity of bureaucracy too seriously. Aside from the comedy, Jim is a tragic figure – yearning to become more than a cog in the corporate machine. The trepidation he feels throughout season one as he pines for Pam Beesly (TV’s most convincing unrequited love) turns out to be nothing less than the profound loneliness of the long-distance soul, mired in daily drudgery and desperately trying to forge a connection. Jim’s break from Scranton and Dunder Mifflin in the later seasons, as he pursues his passion for film-making, will be familiar to anyone who has ever dreamed of breaking out of a nine-to-five life that irons out all the imaginative edges from your soul. Whether it’s through heightened sarcasm, love for the process, or a knack for saying awe-inspiring things at opportune times, The Office has taught me more about humor and my relationship to work than any other show – delivering examples of unspoken lingo, endearing friendship and, most importantly, pointing me toward personal interests and opportunities beyond the confinement of the nine-to-five. Besides, The Office can teach us much about workplace dynamics – and office politics. Even those among us who are lucky enough not to spend every waking hour at an office job will recognize the interactions, awkward and otherwise; the figure of the intrusive boss, the incompetent fawn, and the need for recognition. It’s probably not an exaggeration to say that all modern office life can be captured in these terms. Overall, my favorite character is Jim Halpert’s character from “The Office” because he is the most realistic lover of a 9-5 job with a typical problem of office monotony, a strong sense of humor, and a strong desire to have a different life. The show has compelled my thoughts on the workplace environment by highlighting the absurdities if corporate cultures, but most importantly it has taught me how to take humor and friendship out of the work environment. Your response is below: You're right. My favorite character "The Office" is Jim Halpert's character. he is the most realistic lover of a 9-5 job having all the typical problems of office monotony. he is witty, full of fun, and desires to do something better in life. The show has influenced my thinking on workplaces by highlighting the absurdity of corporate cultures but most importantly it has helped me keep humor and friendship in work environment.
Fall Favs: A Starbucks Stan Scholarship
When the sharpness of October’s days creeps through and blows autumn’s scent through the fallen leaves, there’s one drink from Starbucks that I crave above all others: the Pumpkin Spice Latte. The PSL is not merely another soy-foo-foo in my Starbucks narrative, but a protagonist, a drink through which I seek to experience the warmth, comfort and happiness of fall time and time again. This drink makes me feel just brings an experience back from childhood. A mea culpa to begin: the Pumpkin Spice Latte is not a latte. Nor is it made with real pumpkin. It might be the most hyped drink on the market, but it’s got very little to do with actual coffee. Nevertheless, it’s a cultural juggernaut that for many people defines the season. Here’s some liquid gold for the pig: Starbucks’s Pumpkin Spice Latte, or PSL as it is known to its devotees, embodies autumn in a mug. A shot of espresso poured over steamed milk and floating pumpkin spice syrup on top, all topped with a tower of whipped cream, it gives you all the flavours of autumn in a single sip, taking them from full to flat. When the PSL reappears on the Starbucks menu every fall, it is in some ways as formative as Thanksgiving itself. To me, the PSL is more than a seasonal indulgence. It’s a ritual, a tradition and a comfort. And year after year, as the days get shorter and the temperatures drop, I look forward to the return of that creamy, spicy beverage in a moment of anticipation: Just a few more short weeks before I can settle in with the flavours of my childhood. Every delicious sip takes me back to cooler days, crisp with the smells of sweaters, campsite fires, and the sounds of crunchy autumn footsteps. The creaminess of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, enhanced by spices like nutmeg and cinnamon, romances my taste buds to the fields of pumpkins and apples, where the spicy smell of cinnamon and clove wafts in the air. But aside from the appeal of its delicious taste or the special twilight era in which it appears, I believe that the PSL has enduring appeal because of three associations it engenders among us: the PSL is a conduit for human connection. Maybe your moment with a Pumpkin Spice Latte is a moment alone on the train, just taking care of yourself, a time for you. Or, maybe you’re with a fellow PSL fan sharing a moment for the two of you, a mini-ceremony of friendship, a unification over a steaming hot ovum of celebration. In a world of always-on, the brevity of a PSL brings a moment out of time, an instant on the street where stops and starts still matter. The familiar phrase ‘Hey, let’s grab a pumpkin spice latte!’ need not be a call for hemlock, or inane, but might just be a cry for connection. In so doing, it has become a role within my version of the fall narrative: a source of warmth and comfort and connectedness; a signal to slow down, to pause and savour, to capture the bittersweet joys of the autumn season. The leaves are turning yellow and brown. The air turns a little cooler. As fall rolls in, it is the Pumpkin Spice Latte that welcomes me home.
Robert F. Lawson Fund for Careers that Care
Looking back at where I came from, and forward to where I want to go in this world, I recognize the values and passions that have informed my identity and ambitions. This determination was inspired from not coming from a lot and this inspired me to make a positive difference in the world. Fundamentally, I cannot ignore someone’s struggle as I myself go through it, nor can I ignore injustice in the world knowing that I am not isolated from it. My empathy has been an anchor to this strength. My aspiration to contribute to the world's well-being is a commitment to social justice and equity, focusing on those historically underserved and disenfranchised. My process to fixing that would be speaking out as much as I can and spreading awareness towards it. I would bring as many as many people as I can to help see the vision The process works towards undoing the systemic repetition and societal indifference that individual instances of disadvantage represent. This has driven my work at all levels, from direct service to policy advocacy and community organizing. Also, I am a passionate advocate of sustainability and good energy for the environment. With a rapidly changing climate and degrading ecosystems, the need for action is imperative now more than ever. I feel this way because it seems like not much is being done towards it. With this in mind, I seek to utilize my training and skills to influence sustainability efforts to help the community as much as I can. Prioritizing renewable energy initiatives, and encouraging environmental conservation for the well-being of planet Earth and those who call it home. Will help others become aware of it and want to make a change also. But even more than this work to uphold social justice and create a sustainable environment, I also prioritise education and empowerment. My goal is to share knowledge and promote access to resources for disenfranchised communities, whether as a mentor, in educational outreach, or by increasing community capacity. I use servant leadership principles to guide every decision I make in my career, and I firmly believe that if you have led your life with a focus on helping others succeed, with the knowledge that your life can make a real difference in bringing the world just that little closer to the place you envisioned it to be when you started, then you have truly succeeded.
    Minecraft Forever Fan Scholarship
What you do in this virtually endless place, where you can create anything you can imagine, or explore anything your heart desires, is up to you. Every Minecraft player uses the game differently, and many players would tell you that there’s only one thing they happen to like. Minecraft’s building aspect seems to stick to people like a molecular adhesion. That’s how it is for me. Perhaps the biggest draw of crafting in Minecraft is the fact that, here, the building is not just about creating masterful skyscrapers or beautiful sculptures; it is about unrestrained creativity and self-expression and I love that. From a modest little hut perched on a hillside to a vast green plains castle with towering walls 100 meters high, the builder’s effort alone culminates in a unique piece of art in which player imaginations can run free. I would say the most important part of building Minecraft for me is that there are no limits. It’s much more than just being able to create, it’s that all the directions you can go in are yours to explore. From the moment you place that first block, it’s yours to inhabit using imagination as your only real restriction. I could walk anyone through making a life-size human figure, or a tiny village airport, or a portal to Narnia, but we could go on all day. You know, it really is without end. In addition to architectural constructions, I can also create expressive environments — places that are story-filled and emotionally evocative. Through simple block-by-block interaction, I am painting on the canvas of the virtual world with depth, character, and personality. With keen attention to detail, creative material palette, and inspired architectural design, I am breathing life into places that would otherwise be mundane, elevating them into worlds of wonder. Alongside being an outlet for creativity, building in Minecraft is also a soothing activity for me. There is, for me at least, something very therapeutic about being ‘in the zone’ and lost in placing blocks. I like to tune out all other stimuli and simply allow my mind to wander to and fro while my hands deftly lay the block down. After the constant buzz of the internet, Minecraft is something almost completely at my control, which allows me to sit back and relax amid a world that is often hectic. Ultimately, the process of building is about far more than merely a game mechanic: a form of self-expression, an outlet for artistic creativity, and it provides a measure of solace as well as inspiration. The building is very personal for me, and after playing the game for a couple of years, one that taps into a passionate inner creative stream, boundless in its possibilities and limitless in its potential. There is nothing in this epic, ever-expanding Microsoft MMO that surpasses the joy of seeing one’s creations realized before one’s eyes. With each structure that appears, one’s imagination becomes not only ignited, but also vindicated, and the value of creation is affirmed.
    TEAM ROX Scholarship
While exploring this path, from my very first breath to this very day, I’ve never stopped learning, growing, and making a difference. I began this journey, this never-ending process, out of a personal desire to be healthy and strong. I fell in love with exercise simply because of how great it made me feel. I also love the way it gives me confidence in myself because of the improvement. Along the way, to my complete astonishment and without the slightest inkling of a plan, I felt an overwhelming desire to help others enhance their personal health and well-being. My road to this purpose started with recognizing my own strengths and weaknesses. Self-reflection and assessment led to an awareness of the importance of growth and the fact that mentorship and guidance work, not just in my own life, but hopefully in others. With this awareness, I also saw my path ahead, not only in enhancing my own skills but in uplifting others. My ongoing and lifelong learning has guided my evolution, from formal education and on-the-job training to connection with other individuals and diverse perspectives, and how each experience taught me technical competencies along with developing soft skills such as communication and empathy that helped me excel as a mentor and coach. However, true mastery – which is understanding how to use your skills to serve others – is what I have now enshrined as my purpose. At work, in volunteering, and in friendships, I try to help others to thrive. A key tenet of my approach is the idea of encouragement. Through my work, I strive to create a supportive and positive environment for those I serve, promoting their self-confidence through constructive feedback, motivational coaching and simply providing encouragement. Furthermore, I understand empowerment as something more than individual growth – it is about learning how to create community and co-create together. The more we cultivate a space for inclusivity and co-creation, the better equipped we are to thrive together, learn from each other’s setbacks and triumphs, and ultimately lean on one another to make life more bearable. So here it is in a nutshell: my life’s change of profession proves that purpose and passion can truly transform one’s life, in addition to transforming the lives of those whom they serve. If you are willing to keep learning about yourself and others, and if you keep learning from one star at a time.
FLIK Hospitality Group’s Entrepreneurial Council Scholarship
For the next five years, I commit to be both a global and local eco-volunteer by performing activities that lower our carbon footprint, strengthen the community, and keep the Earth healthy for all. Think eco-health. However, one important part of my plan is to further promote an eco-friendly lifestyle, working on an educational platform so that members of the community become more involved directly with sustainability measures to perceive their impact better, on how they load on each slab of environmental health matters. My goal is to create workshops, seminars, and education campaigns to advocate environmental awareness and ensure that they know where, when, and how they can reduce their eco-footprint such as by reducing single-use plastics, consumption of fossil fuels or energy-conserving practices, etc. In addition, I recognize the importance of parks and other green areas to health, especially mental health, and I will work with local authorities and local community groups to try to find novel ways to protect and enhance the natural environment. Tree planting schemes, urban ‘guerrilla’ gardening, and ‘green corridor’ projects do more than reduce carbon emissions – they provide safe spaces for people to relax and play, which can thus help to promote wellbeing. Second, fostering environmental health allows for advocating for decisions made by those of a policy-making nature on a local and global scale. Lobbying for the policymakers of our future, working on a legislature that is environmentally conscious, and promoting grassroots movements are but some of the ways that I intend to make larger-scale changes to keep this planet healthy and green for future generations. The green energy derived from all sources will help clean up the waste that has been left behind corroding our planet and safeguarding the resources that we as humans have decided to exploit. In addition to companies and business leaders, I also work with NGOs, governments, and communities, sharing experiences, lessons learned, and stories of success, and building linkages and connections across sectors. By facilitating cooperation, it is easier to identify shared interests and burdens and make partnerships close, practicable, and effective. Together, through joint programs of action on conservation, ‘greening’ business, and breaking down silos, NGOs, businesses, government, and citizens are helping to address the three ‘E’s’ and together are working towards the vision of a brighter, greener future for all. In summary, this is what I envision for how wellness will make a difference to the planet in the next five years: People are educated: to be informed about their role in sustainability; empowered: to care for themselves; encouraged: to create green spaces and green communities; and pronounced and protected: for policy to change and for the collaborations to happen. This degree of protection, care, and advocacy that is being required of us as professionals in the wellness realm will give us the footing we need to preserve the environment and, thereby, ensure a stronger humanity living on a healthier planet. In other words, we care about you so much, let’s start caring about the soil, the trees, the water, and the air, too, so we might learn how to live on Earth.

Arts are important to me because they unite people, with a sense of community and connection. Whether through collaboration, projects attending cultural events, or participating in arts-based workshops, people can bond over shared creative experiences, and I love that. I also find it because engaging with arts can have a positive effect on mental and emotional health especially when you get in the zone. Creating art or experiencing art through a peer or event can be very therapeutic. The last reason why I find it important to me is because it can reduce anxiety, depression, and stress with relaxation by focusing and mindfulness. Art enables us to look within listen to ourselves and realize who we truly are. I got started by seeing my family members being creative around me which influenced me to start. It took me a while to start because I was nervous that it wouldn't come out like their creative work. Once I got down the mindset that in order to get better it must take practice my work started to take off. This mindset was the best ever for me because it allowed me not to care about what others thought of me and if I liked it that's all that mattered. Art transformed my life it allowed me to truly connect with my inner self. It allowed me to connect to my thoughts, perceptions, and feelings, and I experienced out-of-body reality and experiences. This was cool to me because I never thought art could do that to me i always looked down on it but it was always something in me that was interested in expressing myself. My first life event with getting exposure to art was in October 2023. This was cool to me because it allowed me to get out of my comfort zone. I got invited to the Rythm and Roots concert which was great because it allowed me to create a new work that I have never experienced. I was grateful for the experience because the event host allowed me to be creative and capture whatever my creativity desired. This amazing opportunity allowed me to grow my experience with art develop a deeper love of expressing myself and admire others' work. My desire to pursue art is to see work created by others. I believe art introduces a set of experiences and ideas that I have never experienced before and I love that feeling. These experiences allow me to look within and interpret what I'm seeing and feeling in the moment based on the art piece I'm looking at.

I plan on making a difference in the world with constant growth and skill enhancement. I'm committed to staying updated with the latest technologies in the industry. I plan to pursue shadow, volunteer, and attend conferences to learn from experts. By constantly improving my skills, I strive to bring innovative strategies to the world by contributing to the photography and videography business by reaching new audiences. I'm passionate about creating a positive impact on the world we live in through my work. I aspire to be a freelance photographer and videographer and show my versatility and creativity through my work. My career aspiration is to become a leader and big influencer in my field. I plan to speak in front of crowds, hold workshop classes, and mentor people to share my knowledge. I also aspire to become an active member of different communities to promote and bring people together. In my opinion, if more people were to work together we would get more done as a community. By becoming a recognized leader in the community, my word would be respected for spreading awareness to the industry about my work. Bringing the community together would also help me spread awareness of mental health. Mental is very important to me because most people are never taught how to regulate their emotions. Regulating your emotions is very important because with this knowledge you can flow more smoothly through your very important day. I would also teach people how to stay in the moment by breathing exercises staying in the now because the future does not exist until you get there. I envision leading lots of people toward success by teaching people how to run a business and maintain one. I would also teach people how to search for the demographics of the area they want to pursue a business. This will allow my students to see which areas are more relevant than others. Another thing I would teach my students is how to hold eye contact and hold a good conversation by asking the right questions. Asking the right questions can get you in a lot of important doors if you do it correctly. Teaching them that engaging with personality will make you feel familiar with the person so they can tell you more than someone else. This will be a very important skill to acquire because it will allow you to be connected to people in the area or the world.

My involvement in sports has improved my skills in teamwork and leadership a lot. Having that leadership role gave me valuable experience. It taught me decision-making, problem-solving, and leading others in the right direction. These leadership skills that I learned are transferable to many aspects of my life, including academics, my vision with my career, and personal relationships. The teamwork skill has taught me how to communicate with people and understand people from a different aspect. My sports medicine internship has taught me a lot about body language and eye contact. It taught me how to interact with kids of all ages and adults. The mentors of my internship taught me a lot about networking and how important it is to communicate with people because you never know what information people hold. This has taught me a lot and put me in new opportunities from just holding a firm base eye contact, to the ability to listen, and good communication. I have learned that building these opportunities will be valuable for future career opportunities, mentorships, and personal growth on my journey. From being in different extracurricular activities like alethic training, volunteering, shadowing with videography, and photography. It has taught me to explore diverse opportunities outside of my academic and professional pursuits for my journey. It has also taught me that it can lead to new passions, hobbies that I like doing, or even finding a new career path that could enhance what I like doing or a different career path. I have learned to keep my mind open and try new stuff because you never know what you might like if you never try. Volunteering has taught me how to help others and not expect anything in return. This was big for me because I learned that I like helping people and putting a smile on their faces. One opportunity I was involved in was giving out coats to kids in need. This opportunity was fun because kids are full of energy and imagination and I like to think of myself that way too. So it was a cool opportunity to give back, hang out with the kids, and have fun by playing games with them and coloring. It was cool to give them the confidence that they might not always receive to dream big and not care about what others may think of them. This was a skill I learned along the way of my journey and I like to let as many people know this as possible. These activities have contributed to me by teaching me lifelong skills and teaching me to be open-minded in my environment. it has also taught me to be myself and be confident in everything I do.

Having grown up with only one parent in my childhood, I see how positively and negatively it has affected my educational life. I have observed that the single parent’s life has not only made me aware of quality, self-reliance and hardworking but had a meticulous impact on my studies as well. Although having a solitary parent for a child is obviously difficult, it has promoted a spirit of independence and determination in me which I have capitalised on scholarship. The most substantial consequential impact that split-parent singlehood had on me growing up would be the heightened sense of duty that I felt at a young age. The idea that there were only two sources of income in a single-parent household implied that it was necessary for me to contribute and help out at home, unless that kind of demand was supposed to be strange for children of my kind. Sometimes I had to do both schoolwork and chores at the same time, in order to lighten pressure on the household finances through part-time jobs. In addition, the fact that I was raised by a single parent means that I had less disposable income for pursuing higher education. In this endeavour, I had to be industrious in my search for scholarships, grants and other avenues of financing such education. This involved a research-based, plodding and go-getting quality of mind that has come in handy for my academic life. All things considered, despite the struggles, raising me as a single parent has given me a great sense of resilience and optimism. Seeing the adversity my parent has gone through to raise me and provide for us when things may not have been ideal ultimately inspired me to tackle obstacles with grit and go through adversity in my studies with as much drive and poise as possible. In the future, my ambition is to make the days for me and my family to live in a much more comfortable way. I would like to study more and have my career in a place where I would be very proud, which is to provide security for my family including my parents, wife and most of all kids. I lack the money for this dream and would like to apply for this scholarship. This scholarship will pay for my college education without overburden me with debt and give me ample time to study and participate in more extracurricular activities which will make me better and prepared student as compared to my fellow colleagues. Also, this scholarship will take off most of the pressure off of family’s financial wrench. With this award, we will be able to save and invest in our retirements more comfortably and securely.

Nowadays education is playing an important role in ensuring personal development and social development. However, plenty of people cannot get good education because they cannot afford to pay for education. The causes of this issue are mainly due to financial problems which are aggravating the social inequality and deprives people and their potential. Some individuals are not having sufficient financial means to be able to pay for good education and this is one of the major reasons that prevents people from getting good education. The other reason behind this issue is that low-income earners cannot afford to pay for good education. As a result, these people only have a chance to get basic education and cannot get higher education. When people cannot get good education they cannot achieve their best potentials because good education is the base of personal development. Therefore, without a good education, it affects social development as well. On the other hand, scholarships are one the most ideal solutions in order to reduce this issues. As a result, scholarships are helping people to get higher education and therefore increasing their knowledge and enriching the society. To conclude, scholarships are an effective way of helping people who cannot afford to pay for education to get good education. In addition to giving the recipient access to a better education, scholarships should also be viewed as a type of solution to systemic social problems of inequality. By serving as means of overcoming the class barrier preventing access to good education, the benefits of scholarships must include their recipients becoming change agents in their communities. First, scholarships can work to equalise educational inequality by mitigating barriers faced by people from marginalised communities. Certain groups have been systemically disadvantaged from accessing education, and scholarships designed for those underrepresented groups can make attending University more accessible for individuals from historically marginalised communities, such as racial and ethnic minorities, or those from lower socioeconomic groups or gendered minorities. Furthermore, scholarships that promote inclusivity are imperative in fostering diversity in educational institutions. By offering financial assistance, scholarships provide prospects for a more diverse student body to study, therefore enriching the lifespan of students learning together. As such, these kinds of scholarships beget an inclusive healthy society. Engaging in my scholarship search, I’m committed to finding scholarships with whom I share the dream of educational equity. Through my research and application, I plan to relieve financial costs of higher education but also to provide greater social impact in my scholarship donors. Since I want to pursue shifts in higher education to better align its values with those of transformational social change, earning scholarships provides me with support for my educational journey and helps to fund much-needed reforms in my community and nation at large. Moreover, I am committed to employing my educational advantage not just to receive scholarships, but to use my educational experience to combat the structural inequalities at play through volunteering with organisations that provide free educational support for underprivileged communities, engaging with advocacy efforts for education policies that foster equity, and mentoring students who are pursuing further education to ensure that they too can find a much-deserved pathway to success. To sum up, scholarship is a great weapon to deal with the global problem, educational inequality. It will work if everyone give oneself the means and use educational opportunity.

Challenges, setbacks and failures are an unavoidable part of life, but it’s your response to these obstacles that can determine your success in the future. An academic challenge I experienced when I was a sophomore in college was that I did poorly in one of my most difficult classes. I also remember being so stressed about studying for the midterm test, but at the end of the studying time, I got a bad grade. It felt like I lost my confidence and didn’t think I was good at it anymore. After that, I tried to not get upset and saw this as an experience. I thought about the way I had studied, the way I had approached the material. I had casually skimmed through the book, absorbing some facts that I had painstakingly memorised, simply in order to pass the exam. But with the understanding that I had a real chance of failing, I began to approach my studies more proactively. I would ask my professor any time I needed to, for my own understanding; and I would ask my classmates. In this manner, I organised study sessions between several of us, I approached my professors' tutor for help - along with several peer tutors, I began to search online and watch videos to help me understand the material. The more I studied, the more interested and obsessed with the material I became. I could detect patterns between ideas and theories. They began to make more sense, and I felt myself improving. I pushed myself in the course. My interest grew, and, in turn, so did my performance. It was a real lesson in not letting the high school experience be your entire learning experience, teaching you how to rebound and cope with academic experiences.’ Another lesson involved: ‘Realising that if you mess up on one test, it’s not the end of the world. I saw some of my friends who completely messed up once, and I was kind of irked because they sat there and they didn’t try. [But] the smart ones were reaching out to people, asking “Hey, what did you do?” I was a lot more proactive about reaching out and asking other people.’ 3. Mental models: Finally, the mental models that students acquire can help them become better thinkers and learners across all contexts. This can mean having a more accurate understanding of the world (knowing that falling off a bike isn’t as serious as fatal illness), making predictions and causal inferences about how things likely work and change over time (e.g., that pushing a pendulum causes it to move) rather than just memorising learned sequences of steps or called-out commands, and recognising what’s not be known about some situation, person, or phenomenon. Moreover, this contributed to my becoming more humble and empathetic, as I realised that everybody in their lifetime will most likely go through very similar and even bigger challenges as I have. This should also allow me to become more understanding of my peers, to help and encourage them as best as I can. Ultimately, overcoming this hurdle helped me thrive academically and develop into a person who was more resilient, compassionate, and self-aware. At its core, I took away that perceived failures are not in reality failures but rejections that can help shed light on buffers to collegiate success interventions as well as our identities. These lessons will follow me down the road as I persist with new life adventures, continually discovering a new path toward future success.

My name is Chris Taylor, I’m a creative person that likes to dream big. Growing up my dreams were turned down by older people because they didn’t see the vision. So now that I’m older and understand imagination is everything it changed my life. In my opinion if you can see the vision, then the vision is real you just have to put in the work to get to that vision. This scholarship will help a lot because It will go towards my tuition. In my opinion I feel like knowledge should be free, but I understand how the system work. This scholarship will help me be able to attain knowledge, for something I see my self doing in the future. It will also help me get me closer to the dream that I want to push other people to believe in. I have made a contribution to my community by helping any one that I see in need of it. It has impacted me today because I like seeing people happy. Helping allows me to express myself and learn something from that person. That person you helped can form a new connection and even a new friendship. It can even get you in the door to a opportunity you never thought of. This is what I learned from just helping people or giving them a extra hand with something. I believe in the saying what goes around comes around. So if, you give out good energy genuinely then the genuine energy will be returned back to you. It has also taught me to be genuine to anybody you see because you never know what they might know or who they know. I learned that you can get information through anything that you might needed to hear in that moment. So I learned to never judge a book by its cover. Making contributions to people also gives me a good feeling because it bring out the good energy in people. It also helps people understand that they are not alone. I’m learning that everyone just want love so I like to spread my love through helping people. I also like helping people with their bodies. The body is the temple and it can affect how you feel if you don’t take care of it. So I like to tell the people that I workout out with is that health is wealth. Because if you feel good about yourself your reality will reflect with it.
Janean D. Watkins Overcoming Adversity Scholarship
Hi, I’m Chris Taylor and my goal in life is to just better my self everyday. Another goal of mine is to live financially free and enjoy the world we live in. I overcame adversity from a lot of things. For example, family, school, housing, and friends. I’ve learned from dealing with all of those situations is that you have to just keep going. No matter how hard you fall down, get back up and just keep trying. Another thing I learning is to never shut off my imagination because I can see the vision, then I will be able to achieve the vision with hard work. I’ve learned that self work can get you far if you allow your self to be uncomfortable. Being uncomfortable is tricky though because it’s the unknown and it can lead you down a lot of what ifs. One thing I can say is just to trust your intuition because it is never wrong. Being uncomfortable will help get out of your shell so you can blossom into a new form. Taking risk and just doing in my opinion will allow you to step out of the shell and be who you really want to be. Before the adversity I was a person who was cool being comfortable because I didn’t want to take any leaps. My mind would tend to wonder off about the what if’s and I would immediately shit it down. The adversity has helped me in many way because it put me in a position to be uncomfortable so I could grow. It allowed me to understand to go day by day rather then look weeks or months ahead. In my opinion I believe living day by day is important because it allows you to live in the moment. Which keep you grounded so you can analyze what’s going on. If you are thinking days and week ahead of time you can never focus on what going on in front of you. This is where people can get depression or anxiety, which I had at one point until I learned about living day by day. The adversity has helped me be grateful for what I have because there are worst situations out there. It also taught me about my goal to be financially free and not stress about money. Travel the world and appreciate the world we live in. I would also do my hobby of mine which is take pictures of stuff I find cool in the world.

My college student life story is not so much about struggle as it is tenacity. It is a story of determination and the resulting passion for something I knew I wanted to do almost since childhood. Even as early as elementary school, I used to admire images that told stories or projected feelings; yet, growing up, the universe made it seem like a struggle for me to create an avenue to chase this lifelong ambition. Born and raised in Kenya, West Africa, being a student photographer is already a lot more difficult than the norm. As a black photographer navigating his way in an ocean of white-skinned colleagues, it is even the more difficult. I wasn’t going to be defined or defeated by the adversity I faced while trying to reach my dreams, so I channeled my story as a black kid through my images: Photographs to speak to inequality and social justice, photographs to rescue my sisters from violence, photographs to expose the criminal justice system, photographs to challenge stereotypes, photographs to amplify voices and imagination; photographs to beauty; photographs to not apologise but lift up and celebrate blackness – all that authentic unsung black beauty that has a longoverdue international emergence. College was my saving grace — it was my place to grow as a creative, explore new ideas, and meet others whom I could connect with as a photographer and designer. Under the nurturing support of mentors and fellow creatives, I had the opportunity to practice my craft, growSkills and strengthen my creative muscles in a risk-free environment. But on a deeper note, I’ve found in college exactly what I was looking for: a world of self-acceptance and validation, which I’ve channeled through my own lens on identity and self-image. With each click of my camera, I’ve pinpointed my own identity, celebrated my Black heritage, and honoured my ancestors on my own terms. I’ve exposed the world to the beauty of Blackness and, in this way, empowered others to do the same. Each click reminds us that as solid as a bulldozer may be, even it can ultimately be undone by a camera. But my horizons are an open sky and, in the future, I dream to fly, to break free and smash glass ceilings, making space for black artists and carving a niche in an industry that has patronised and commissioned only white voices. As I magazine shows Nick Knight’s photograph of Ruby Ridge, 1996, at Tate Britain. I dream to educate myself and others through exhibitions, publications and community projects. I want to create opportunities for the aspiring photographers, the next Kobena Merleys and the next Emma Dabirs. I want to share my experiences by dreaming big and reaching high. But I’m also passionate about it because, as much as I am living my childish fantasy, I’m also living out my one-black-baby fantasy. Representation matters. Black people have been silenced or shaped into something we are not for centuries. We are told who we are supposed to be. When I share my story, and show people what I am capable of with my work, I hope that black kids and teenagers watch and think, damn, I can do that too. I can be creative, I can make and write and sing and tell the world about who I truly am and what I want to do – all while looking like me in the process. It’s a statement about saying my piece, my place and my power – and I’m still learning how to navigate this evolving path in my life.
