Hello I’m Chloe Mims! I’m a 20 year old college student from Summerville, South Carolina which is just right outside of the beautiful city Charleston! I studied for one year at Charleston Southern University where I also played soccer on the women’s team. Unfortunately, college was too expensive and I have now transferred to Trident Technical College where I have found my true passion!
I’m currently studying Photography and Graphic Design. I am working on my associate's degree and I’m also obtaining two certificates in digital photography and photography. My goals in life are to be able to one day open my own graphic design business. My dream career is to become a National Geographic photographer so that I can advocate and be the voice for many world events such as global warming and endangered animals. I also plan to use my free time to assist local shelters and photograph animals so that they may find their forever homes.

Nervo "Revolution" Scholarship
My biggest artistic ambition is to graduate college and start my own photography business. My dream in life has always been to become a National Geographic photographer and have my own business. Growing up in the times of Social media and technology I have loved taking photos, editing videos, and creating designs. I am now following my passion in college where I am studying graphic design and photography. I have decided to double major in Graphic design and photography so that when I graduate I will be able to pursue my dream full time. I would like to open my own photography business in my hometown Charleston, South Carolina while also working towards a contract for National Geographic.
My biggest concern in regards to reaching my dream is completing college. I am currently working full time while being a full time college student in order to keep my dreams alive. This scholarship will bring my vision to life by helping me step forward in my career. Paying for college on my own is extremely challenging on top of needing photography equipment. I currently need a DSLR Camera but I unfortunately can not afford it because I have to pay for my college tuition. This scholarship would lift the burden of me paying full tuition and help me save towards the camera I need in order to be successful. On top of helping me save towards my career camera, this scholarship will also allow me to focus on my schooling and getting internships and experiences instead of working full time to pay for my college.

"Your Success" Youssef Scholarship
Pursuing higher education is very important to my family. My father nor my mother have a college degree. I am currently in college and I plan on becoming the first in my family with a degree. While most people pursue higher education to get a job that brings in a ton of money I am not. Getting a college education does not mean you need to study for a degree that pays a lot of money. I am currently studying graphic design and photography which does not bring in much money but for me, it is about what I love to do. Photography is what I love to do because I am able to capture precious memories of people's lives.
In high school, I was a part of the Student Council and Beta Club. Student council allowed me to be the voice of my fellow peers and make the changes my school needed. I was vice president of the Beta club my junior year and president my senior year. Beta Club allowed me to volunteer and help my school and the local community. I helped animal shelters, assisted librarians at the library, and even hosted our first school community fair! All throughout high school I also participated in soccer. I played high school and club my four years and eventually earned a scholarship to play division one. However, I could not afford the tuition cost of that school. I have now transferred to a community college where I am most passionate about photography and design.
My dream is to become a wedding photographer and even one day work for National Geographic. I also would love to open my own photography business and serve my local community as I did in high school. I am also passionate about animals and I would like to volunteer at my local animal shelter next semester. This scholarship will allow me not only to continue to pursue higher education but will also allow me to continue doing what I am most passionate about.
Art of Giving Scholarship
College education has always been important for my family. My father nor my mother have ever completed college and neither of them has a college degree but I am the first in my family to work towards one. Going to college is extremely expensive for me and my family and we struggle to afford even one semester. I started my college experience at a four-year college (Charleston Southern University) where I had a division one soccer scholarship. However, the tuition was hard to pay for even with the scholarship I had. I was taking out loans and my father was also struggling to pay my semesters.
Last Fall in 2020 I had to make the hardest decision of my life to transfer to a smaller community college and hang up playing my dream sport. While I am studying at a community college tuition is still expensive for me and my family. I am a full-time student while also working a full-time job to pay my tuition. On top of struggling to pay for my tuition my major and minor require me to have some rather expensive equipment. I am studying graphic design and photography which I need a good laptop and a camera. I am currently saving up for a better laptop but I am still struggling to pay for my summer classes. I also have not been able to get a camera yet as I am still trying to pay for my summer classes and I will soon have to pay for my upcoming fall semsters. This scholarship would allow me to pay for the majority of my classes and help me save up for the equipment I need to be successful in my career.
Photography and graphic design have been my passion for a few years now. Since high school, I loved the idea of being able to photograph and capture precious memories for people. With this scholarship, I will be able to be a step closer to achieving that goal. My dream job is to become a wedding photographer and one day open my own photography business. I would also love to one day become a National Geographic photographer. I would also like to volunteer and photograph animals at a local animal shelter to help the animals find their forever homes. This scholarship would lift the burden for me and my family to pay for college and assist me towards becoming an excellent photographer and graphic designer!

My greatest achievement to date would be playing on a division 1 college soccer team.
Growing up through middle and high school I always wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps. My father has always been an avid soccer fan and still continues to play at the age of 42 with a repaired knee. Not only was soccer something I loved to play but it was also my only way to go to college. For me, soccer was not just a hobby but it was also my future.
My senior year of high school I was offered a scholarship to play at a Division 1 College in hometown. I was beyond overwhelmed with emotion and excitement. From playing since middle school all the up to the end of high school soccer became just as important as education to me. I was super excited to be able to move up to the next level while making my dad proud and having an opportunity to continue my education.
Making it to division 1 college soccer taught me that hard work pays off. This is the biggest lesson I have ever learned in my life. My goal was to make it to my dream college and play soccer. I had trained with my high school soccer team, a personal trainer, my club team, and even by myself for hours in my backyard. I never thought that all my hard work would pay off especially in my senior year of high school when picking your college was right around the corner.
Unfortunately, the college I was playing soccer for was a private college and tuition was $32,000 a year to go there. My family and I struggled to pay for it even with my soccer scholarship. Last year I made the biggest decision of my life and decided to hang up my cleats and transfer to a community college.
This experience taught me that hard work does pay off. I was able to put hours and years of training to go to the next level. This experience also taught me that life doesn’t always go expected.
I expected to play college soccer, get my college degree, and go on to hopefully play pro soccer. But that didn’t happen and I’m honestly glad to have learned from this experience.
I am now studying at a community college where I’m still paying my own tuition. It is a lot less than before however. I have also now fallen in love with a new passion. I am studying photography and graphic design. If it wasn’t for my experience with soccer and the private college I would of never found my true calling.
I hope to become a photographer and graphic designer in the future. I also want to be able to tell the next generation about my story and what I’ve learned my experience. Life doesn’t always go the way you plan it but that’s okay!
Ocho Cares Artistry Scholarship
Growing up I was always told an artist was someone who painted pictures or drew sketches on paper. You weren't considered an artist if you didn't have a paintbrush in your hand. Before I started studying to become a graphic designer and photographer the hardest thing for me was to define what being an artist truly meant.
Being an artist means not being afraid to show your creative side. You don't have to be the standard definition of an artist to truly be one. In today's world especially with social media and how big technology is being an artist means how a person expresses themselves and being their own voice. I think the key to being an artist is pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to be creative. Being an artist nowadays means your work is not only creative but is also advocating for yourself and others. Being an artist drives me to advocate for those who are not able to have a voice. I want to be able to advocate for the many voices that are not being heard on an everyday basis. I would like to photograph the injustices many animals face and express to the world we need to step up. You do not need to have the money nor power to create change in this world but rather be an artist for what you believe in.
I plan to use my art to connect and create change for future generations by first redesigning what an artist means. I want the world to know that an artist does not need pencils nor paint to create art. Second I want to use my art to give a voice to people who are not able to have one. I plan to photograph the inequalities around the world. I want to show the world why so many beautiful species of animals are dying, what global warming is doing to our oceans and Correal Reefs, and how we can make a change. If my art changes the world even by a little then future generations will also realize being an artist is more than just a canvas and paint.
"I want to touch people with my art. I want them to say "he feels deeply, he feels tenderly". -Vincent Van Gogh
Overall I want to touch people through my art and work. I want to know that I was able to make people feel emotions and change their perspectives on ideas and what an artist means to them.
