Mental health and suicide prevention are important topics among my age group because many young people are carrying more emotional weight than they know how to express. There is pressure to succeed academically, financially, and socially, while also trying to figure out who we are and where we belong. At the same time, there is an unspoken expectation to appear strong, confident, and okay, even when things feel overwhelming internally. Because of this, mental health struggles are often hidden behind smiles, silence, or humor. Suicide prevention matters because it brings attention to the reality that emotional pain does not always look obvious, and that checking in on one another can truly save lives. What makes mental health awareness especially meaningful to me is understanding how easily people can feel unseen or unheard. I have witnessed how stress, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion can slowly affect how people communicate, trust others, and view themselves. When mental health is not talked about, individuals may begin to isolate themselves or believe their struggles are not important enough to share. Awareness helps change that narrative. It creates space for compassion instead of judgment and reminds people that needing support does not make them weak. Suicide prevention emphasizes the importance of early care, open conversations, and community support, which can make a difference before someone reaches a point of crisis. My connection to mental health awareness has grown through my experiences in faith-based and community spaces where care for others is emphasized. Through volunteering and service, I have seen how meaningful it can be when someone simply takes the time to listen. I have learned that support does not always mean having the right words or solutions, but being present and showing genuine concern. These experiences taught me that mental health is deeply connected to feeling valued, supported, and understood. Feeling seen can be a powerful source of hope for someone who may be struggling internally. Mental health awareness has also shaped how I approach my relationships. I try to be more patient, attentive, and intentional in how I interact with others. I have learned to check in, to listen without rushing to respond, and to offer encouragement even in small ways. Sometimes a simple conversation, a kind reminder, or a moment of understanding can leave a lasting impact. Being mindful of mental health has made me more aware of how my words and actions affect others, and it has strengthened my commitment to showing empathy in both personal and community settings. Looking toward the future, mental health awareness has influenced my career aspirations and the kind of environments I want to be part of. As a Business Administration student, I am drawn to service-oriented and people-centered work. I want to contribute to organizations and communities that prioritize well-being, support, and ethical leadership. Whether through community outreach, leadership roles, or service-driven initiatives, I hope to help create spaces where individuals feel respected, heard, and supported rather than overlooked or dismissed. Honoring Tammurra Hamilton’s legacy means recognizing the importance of compassion, awareness, and human connection. Mental health and suicide prevention are not just conversations to have once, but ongoing commitments to care for others and to protect lives. This scholarship represents remembrance, hope, and the belief that education and awareness can help create a more understanding and supportive world. I am committed to carrying these values forward by continuing to uplift others and contribute to communities where no one feels invisible in their struggles.

Sustainability should be a priority in the field of business because business decisions affect more than just profit. They affect people, communities, and the environment in ways that often last much longer than the products themselves. As a Business Administration student, I’ve started to realize how much power businesses have in shaping everyday habits, especially when it comes to consumption and waste. Once I became more aware of this, it felt impossible to ignore the responsibility that comes with it. What sustainability means to me is being mindful of the impact our choices have, even when those choices seem small. A lot of environmental damage doesn’t happen because people don’t care, but because convenience is often placed above responsibility. I believe businesses play a major role in changing that mindset. When sustainability is prioritized, businesses can influence people to think differently about what they buy, how they use products, and what they support. Choosing more responsible practices shows that growth doesn’t have to come at the expense of the planet. In the future, I see myself working in business environments that are focused on people and everyday consumers, especially in industries like beauty and personal care. These industries are a part of daily life for so many people, yet they often contribute to excess waste and unsustainable practices. I want to be part of creating change in spaces like this by encouraging more thoughtful decisions, such as reducing unnecessary packaging, supporting ethical sourcing, and promoting transparency. Even gradual improvements can make a real difference when they are consistent and intentional. Sustainability also matters to me because it connects to honesty. Many people want to make better choices for the environment but don’t always know where to start or who to trust. I hope to use my business education to help bridge that gap by supporting clear communication and realistic sustainability efforts that people can actually understand and follow. When businesses are honest about their impact, it builds trust and encourages long-term change. On a personal level, sustainability represents care for the future. I want my work to reflect values that go beyond short-term success. Whether through professional roles, community involvement, or future entrepreneurial efforts, I want to contribute to solutions that protect the environment while still allowing businesses to operate responsibly. The Future Green Leaders Scholarship supports students who are thinking about the bigger picture, and I hope to be someone who helps move business in a direction that balances progress with care for the planet.
      Priscilla Shireen Luke Scholarship
Giving back to others has always been a natural part of who I am, not something I do for recognition, but something I do because I believe service is a responsibility. Throughout my life, I have been involved in community service through faith-based organizations, outreach programs, and leadership roles that focus on uplifting others. One of the most meaningful ways I give back is through my involvement with Kingdom Temple Outreach Ministries, where I served as a volunteer and later as Captain of the Liturgical Praise Dance Team. In this role, I was responsible not only for leading and mentoring younger dancers, but also for supporting community outreach efforts that used art, faith, and encouragement to bring people together. These experiences taught me that service can be powerful even when it is quiet, consistent, and rooted in care. In addition to my church involvement, I have volunteered within the disability community, assisting individuals who required patience, empathy, and advocacy. Serving people with disabilities deepened my understanding of inclusion and reinforced the importance of meeting people where they are. It taught me that service is not about fixing others, but about walking alongside them, listening, and offering support in ways that preserve dignity and respect. Through these experiences, I learned that giving back is not limited to one moment or organization—it is a mindset that shapes how I interact with others in every space I enter. Looking toward the future, I plan to continue positively impacting the world by combining my commitment to service with my education in Business Administration. I believe business, when guided by ethical values and compassion, can be a powerful tool for community improvement. My goal is to work within service-driven environments such as nonprofit organizations, community outreach programs, faith-based initiatives, or service-oriented businesses that prioritize people over profit. I want to use my skills to help organizations operate sustainably while remaining deeply rooted in their mission to serve others. I also aspire to create opportunities that empower individuals through education, confidence, and access—especially those who may feel overlooked or unsupported. Whether through leadership roles, mentorship, or future entrepreneurial efforts, I intend to build spaces that uplift others and create lasting impact. Service, to me, is not something that ends with a volunteer role; it is something that evolves as my skills and responsibilities grow. Priscilla Shireen Luke’s legacy of selflessness and hope resonates deeply with my own values. Her dedication to bettering the lives of others reflects the kind of impact I strive to make in my community and beyond. Receiving this scholarship would not only support my educational journey, but also affirm the importance of choosing a path centered on service, compassion, and purpose. I am committed to carrying these values forward and continuing to give back in ways that create meaningful and lasting change.
      Start Small, Dream BIG Scholarship
My name is Chloe Bell, and I am an undergraduate Business Administration student with a dream that has been shaped slowly through lived experience, service, and resilience. My business idea grew from years of working closely with people in the beauty and personal care space, not just as clients, but as individuals carrying their own insecurities, stories, and hopes. As a freelance beauty advisor and makeup artist, I have witnessed how something as simple as personalized care, education, and attention can restore confidence and self-worth. Many of the people I worked with were not seeking perfection; they were seeking reassurance, understanding, and the feeling of being seen. These moments planted a seed in me to build a beauty-focused business that goes beyond appearance—one rooted in empowerment, education, and accessibility. My vision is to create a service-based and product-driven brand that helps individuals feel confident in themselves while providing honest guidance and care. Although my business is still in its early planning stages, I am actively working toward this goal through research, branding exploration, and learning the fundamentals of ethical entrepreneurship. I understand that meaningful businesses are not rushed into existence; they are built intentionally, with patience and purpose, long before they ever generate profit. The theme “Start Small, Dream Big” deeply resonates with my personal and professional journey because my path has required me to move forward even when resources felt limited and progress felt slow. Balancing school, financial responsibilities, and future aspirations has taught me the value of persistence and faith in small beginnings. I have learned that starting small does not mean thinking small—it means laying a foundation strong enough to support long-term growth. This scholarship would provide critical support during a stage where belief and opportunity must meet. Financial assistance would allow me to invest in the foundational elements of my business, including branding tools, educational materials, product research, and early marketing efforts that would help transform careful planning into meaningful action. More than financial relief, this support would give me the confidence to take the next step toward building something that reflects my values and serves others with intention. Dreaming big, to me, means believing that a carefully nurtured idea—rooted in compassion, resilience, and hard work—can one day grow into a business that uplifts others. This scholarship would not only help advance my entrepreneurial goals, but it would also affirm that starting small, with purpose and heart, is a powerful and worthy beginning.
      Emma Jane Hastie Scholarship
My name is Chloe Bell, and I am an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Business Administration. While my academic path is rooted in business, my purpose has always been grounded in service. From a young age, I learned that true leadership is not defined by recognition or income, but by the willingness to show up for others, especially when support is needed most. Service has shaped who I am, how I lead, and the kind of career I am committed to building. One of the most meaningful ways I have served my community was through Kingdom Temple Outreach Ministries, where I spent several years actively volunteering and later serving as Captain of the Liturgical Praise Dance Team. In this role, I was not only responsible for choreography and coordination, but also for mentoring younger dancers, supporting community events, and contributing to outreach programs designed to uplift and encourage others. Our performances were more than artistic expression; they were acts of ministry meant to inspire, heal, and bring people together. Leading with compassion, patience, and responsibility taught me how service can take many forms beyond traditional volunteer work. In addition to my work through the church, I volunteered within the disability community, assisting individuals who required additional care and support. This experience deeply impacted my understanding of empathy and advocacy. I learned how essential it is to create inclusive environments where people feel valued and respected, regardless of their circumstances. Serving individuals with disabilities reinforced my belief that service is not about being seen, but about meeting people where they are and helping them thrive. These experiences have guided my decision to pursue business as a service-oriented career path. I believe business, when done ethically and intentionally, can be a powerful tool for community impact. My goal is to work in service-driven organizations such as nonprofit management, community outreach programs, faith-based organizations, or hospitality environments where people-centered leadership is essential. By combining business knowledge with a heart for service, I hope to contribute to organizations that prioritize care, access, and support for others. Emma Jane Hastie’s legacy of servitude deeply resonates with me because her life reflects the values I strive to embody. Choosing a path rooted in service is not always the most financially rewarding or recognized, but it is the most fulfilling. I am committed to building a career that honors this principle by serving my community with integrity, compassion, and purpose. Receiving this scholarship would help alleviate the financial burden of my education and allow me to remain focused on my academic and service goals. More importantly, it would affirm the importance of choosing a life of service and encourage me to continue using my education to positively impact the lives of others.
