My path into public health and medicine began in spaces where access to care was uncertain, and small interventions made a visible difference. I am an MPH student in Chronic Disease Epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, preparing to pursue a medical degree. I aim to become a physician who treats patients while addressing the structural and environmental factors shaping their health. In pharmacy settings, I assisted with prescriptions and patient communication, but more importantly, I saw how cost, confusion, and fragmented systems determine whether treatment works at all. That experience shifted how I think about care, from what is prescribed to what is actually possible for patients. At Yale, I have extended this perspective across systems. I led the City of New Haven’s 2023 Greenhouse Gas Inventory, connecting environmental data to population health, and I now serve as a Care Coordinator at HAVEN Free Clinic, supporting patients seeking reproductive and sexual health services in time-sensitive situations. I am particularly interested in Community-Based Participatory Research as a way to design interventions that are accountable to the communities they serve. Across my work, I focus on closing the gap between access and outcomes and I plan to continue as a physician trained in public health.
