Becoming a nurse is very personal to me. I had a time in my life when I had to rely on my uncle and boyfriend to take care of me. During that time I saw how much of a difference a caring person can make in someone’s life. The people who helped me did not know how much their support meant to me. I did not attend Armuchee highschool in Rome but I do attend Sonoraville High School in Calhoun Georgia. I plan to go to GNTC. Because of what I went I knew I wanted to work in healthcare so I could be there for people when they need help the most, just like I did. I am going to attend trade school to become a Practical Nurse. After that I want to keep studying to become a Nurse and eventually get my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I want to become a Practical Nurse first so I can earn money to pay for Registered Nurse school because I do not have any other help. I have already started working towards my goal by getting my Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certifications. These certifications have taught me a lot about taking care of patients. Showed me that I really want to help people. I like being able to make people feel more comfortable and supported especially when they are going through times. Starting with the Licensed Practical Nurse program is the choice for me right now. My plan is to work as a Licensed Nurse so I can get experience in healthcare and earn money to pay for nursing school later. Getting a Practical Nurse license will also give me an extra qualification. I want to keep learning and become a Registered Nurse but becoming a Practical Nurse first will help me take the next step towards my future. One of the challenges I face is that I do not have financial help from my family to pay for school. I have had to figure a lot of things out on my own while trying to keep my life steady and build a future. Another goal I am working towards is having a life. I want to be able to afford a place to live so I can stop moving from place to place. Having stability would make my life much easier. Allow me to focus on my nursing education and career. This scholarship would help me pay for my Licensed Practical Nurse program. Take a big step towards becoming a nurse. It would also help me save money while I am in school so I can work towards having my place and building a stable life. More, than anything it would help me keep pursuing a career where I can help others the way people helped me. My experiences have made me stronger and more determined to succeed. I know what it feels like to need help. That is why becoming a nurse means so much to me. I have already dealt with struggles of the nursing world but it has not stopped me from trying and achieving my goals. I want to be someone who makes people feel cared about, supported and safe when they are going through hard times in their lives. Becoming a nurse is something that I really want to do. I am going to work hard to make it happen.
