Hello! My name is Cheryl Lynn Tomblin and I live in Berwyn, IL. Berwyn is a suburb just outside of Chicago (about 20 minutes from the downtown area on a mildly decent traffic day). I am a single mother of one, my daughter Beverly Lucille Cassin. Besides being a mother and a student I'm also a private music instructor. I teach and play several instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Guitar, Piano, and Ukulele. I am a singer and a songwriter and perform throughout the Chicagoland area.
I received my B.A. in Creative Writing from Carnegie Mellon University in 2005. I later received my certification in bodywork from The Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy in Chicago in 2009 because I wanted a career working hands-on with people.
My daughter Beverly was born prematurely, at 23.5 weeks. She developed Hydrocephalus shortly after birth and then was officially diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy around 18 months old. I was very hands-on with her development from the start, always watching the PTs and OTs move her body. Her OTs and PTs started to notice how involved I was and how quickly I learned from their examples and started to tell me that I would make a great OT. I feel this field doesn't get its due credit when it comes to the holistic approach of bodywork, as it not only targets the physical but also the mental and emotional components that come with the functions of the body.
When I'm not teaching, studying, being a mom/therapist/teacher, or performing, I enjoy doing yoga, baking, reading creative non-fiction, and watching series like The Handmaid's Tale.
