Having came from a impoverished family, my main goal in life is to be financially stable in a career that I enjoy. I'm passionate about education and nature, and of course my dog! I love to read, write, garden, collage, sew, cook and hike around California. I have worked a few different retail and fast food jobs but am currently a part-time student and am working a college credited internship at my college's farm. After this semester I am 2 classes away from getting an associate degree in natural science. I hope to use my degree leading a life of restoration and conservation of California.

As a 26 year old woman in America, I think about reproductive rights everyday. As a young adult just trying to make a place for myself in this world, Margaret Sanger is a huge, daily inspiration to me. Having devoted her life to the legalization of birth control and fighting to make it universally accessable to women, her actions are what allow me to be the free woman I am today.
Growing up in the time of the Comstock act, an act that criminalized birth control, Sanger knew she needed to make a change. After witnessing her mother's demise from multiple births and miscarriages, Sanger became a nurse. Through seeing the horrors that countless women had to withstand without access to contraceptives, and with no one advocating for those women, their bodies and their own choices, Sanger stepped up. Without Margaret Sanger, I believe I would not be able to receive the education that I strive for today. I'd be forced to chose between to lives; a life of strictly education and career, or a life of childbirth. Sanger fought for one of the most basic human rights, autonomy. Sanger's life long fight for women's rights played a huge roll in suffragettes cause and the law change allowance of women to vote 1919.
Every day that I wake up and can make my own choices about my own body and mind, I thank Sanger. Not only did she advocate for and prove the concept of women leading their own lives and striving for their own meaningful careers, Sanger saved lives, and will continue to save lives as long as women have access to birth control.
