My name is Cherish and my dream is to become a nurse practitioner. I have been going to the doctor with my grandmother since I was a small child and was able to see the magic that nurse practitioners actually do in real life. I want to be able to do work that helps my community be more healthy and live longer. The fact that my grandmother has a heart condition is what drives me most to try to learn as much as I can and do as much as I can to save as much of the world as I can. I have always shown an interest in going to doctors with my grandmother for as far back as I can remember and luckily that have been willing to answer any questions I had. In fact, Nurse Tanisha took a liking to me and would always give me a treat and one time let me wear her stethoscope. The staff of this cardiology office have been not only nice but informative and influential. When I said I wanted to be a nurse, she said "Why not be a Nurse Practitioner? Shoot for the stars honey" and it was then that I started my research into the career and decided that that would be by passionate contribution to society. The minority communities have a lot of health conditions that could have easily been prevented with diet and exercise and I would like to be one of the people helping be the change we need. There are a few people in my family alone with diabetes, high blood pressure and overweight based of medical standards and I feel that sometimes people relate better to people that look like them so I would want to in addition to work do programs that would educate people from the African America and Latina communities. My Aunt is always talking about saving the world and does lots of community outreach, She asked one day what I was going to do to save the world and after thinking I know this is what I was placed here to do. In conclusion, while I know you have lots of possible candidates for this scholarship, I don't think you'll find another quite as passionate as me. I have been going to doctors with my grandmother and now my mother with health problems and see first hand the crisis the American people already have at hand. Doctors offices are full, and gyms are empty all because grocery baskets are full of cokes instead of veggies. The American people need to make a change and I believe I am just the change agent you need. Thanks you for your time.
