Bio

I am an aspiring automotive technician specializing in restoring classic cars. My journey into mechanics began with customizing RC cars and was fueled by my childhood fascination with classic cars at car shows, a passion nurtured by my dad and grandpa, who introduced me to the hobby. During high school, I also studied diesel mechanics, further enhancing my understanding of automotive systems. This early exposure deepened my interest in understanding the intricate workings of simple systems on older cars. I enjoy working on my own cars and, when I'm not tackling automotive projects or enhancing my technical skills through gaming, I am committed to combining traditional mechanical artistry with modern engineering to create exceptional results.

Experiencing the loss of a loved one is an incredibly challenging ordeal, and doing so at a young age can feel even more overwhelming. For me, losing my dad during my freshman year of high school and my grandfather the year before has left an indelible mark on my life. Both men not only shared a deep affection for cars but also a commitment to the National Guard, as well as principles of dedication and responsibility that have profoundly influenced who I am today. Cars have always been a cornerstone of our family bond. From a young age, my dad introduced me to the thrill of automotive culture. I remember weekends spent at car shows, where he would excitedly explain the intricacies of different models, the engineering behind their designs, and the history that each vehicle carried. Each car was like a piece of art to him, and his passion was infectious. It wasn't just about the cars themselves; it was the stories behind them that captivated me—the restoration projects, the road trips, the memories created. My grandfather played a pivotal role in shaping my understanding of resilience and dedication. As a veteran of the National Guard, he often spoke about the values of service, sacrifice, and community. He shared tales of his own experiences, instilling in me a sense of pride and an understanding of what it meant to serve something greater than oneself. I can still hear his voice recounting the camaraderie he felt with his fellow servicemen, and it filled me with a sense of purpose. The lessons learned from both my dad and my grandfather are ones I carry with me daily. Their love for cars and their commitment to their duties have taught me about passion and responsibility. I often find solace in working on cars myself, whether fixing up a vintage model or just tinkering with the family vehicle. In those moments, I feel a connection to them—like they are right there with me, guiding my hands. The grief of losing them, especially at such formative stages in my life, has molded my perspective on relationships and the way I view life’s challenges. I’ve learned not to take moments for granted and to cherish the memories I hold dear. While their absence leaves a significant void, I choose to celebrate their legacy by embracing the values they instilled in me and passing them on to those around me. Their spirits live on in the stories I share, the cars I admire, and the values I uphold. In a way, they continue to influence my journey as I navigate the twists and turns of life, just like those adventurous drives we took together.

I am excited to apply for this scholarship, which will help me pursue my passion for classic car restoration and modifications. My fascination with automobiles began at a young age, particularly with classic and custom cars that embody both history and character. This interest has grown into a strong desire to develop the skills necessary to restore and modify these vehicles, ensuring their legacy endures for generations to come. Currently, I am enrolled at Ohio Technical College (OTC), where I am gaining invaluable knowledge about vehicle restoration, including the intricate processes involved in creating parts from scratch. This education is essential to achieving my aspirations, as I believe that understanding the mechanics and artistry behind classic cars will enable me to bring my vision to life. At OTC, I am learning a variety of techniques, such as bodywork, engine rebuilding, and paint application, all of which are crucial to successfully restoring classic automobiles to their former glory. One of my primary goals is to restore my grandfather’s truck, which holds immense sentimental value for my family and me. This vehicle is not merely a machine; it represents our family's history and the fond memories I shared with my grandfather. By restoring it, I hope to honor his legacy and preserve a piece of our family's story while incorporating modern enhancements that will make it more reliable and enjoyable to drive. Additionally, I am passionate about helping others who share an interest in restoring or recreating their childhood vehicles. Many people have cherished memories associated with specific cars from their past, and I aspire to assist them in bringing those memories to life. Whether it’s guiding a friend through the restoration of a classic muscle car or helping a family member refurbish an old sedan, I want to be a resource for anyone interested in this rewarding craft. This scholarship will not only help cover my educational expenses but will also provide me with the tools and resources necessary to pursue my goals. I believe that with the right support, I can make a meaningful impact in the world of classic car restoration and customization. I am eager to share my knowledge, skills, and passion with others in my community, ensuring that the joy of restoring classic vehicles is accessible to everyone. Thank you for considering my application; I look forward to the opportunity to further my education and pursue my dreams.
