Investing in the next generation is the foundation of a healthier and stronger community, and I want to be part of that future. As someone who just graduated high school, I’m now preparing to take the next steps in my education and athletic career. I’ve worked hard to get to this point, but financial challenges make the path ahead more difficult. This scholarship would help me move forward with less stress and give me the chance to focus on my goals without putting more pressure on my mother. Basketball has been a huge part of my life. Playing varsity basketball taught me discipline, teamwork, and how to push through challenges, especially injuries. There were moments when I wasn’t sure if I would get back on the court, but I learned how to stay patient, stay committed, and trust the process. Being part of a team showed me how important it is to support others and how much you can grow when people believe in you. Those lessons shaped me into the person I am today and prepared me for the next chapter of my life. My experiences with injuries also inspired my career path. When I got hurt, the X‑ray tech who helped me had great energy and made me feel calm. They told me I would be fine, and that moment stuck with me. I realized how important it is to have someone in healthcare who can not only do their job well but also make people feel safe during stressful situations. That’s why I chose radiography as my major. I want to become an X‑ray tech and eventually work on the sports side of radiography, helping athletes the same way I was helped. This scholarship would make a real difference for me. It would help pay for my books, housing, and supplies, and it would take a lot of stress off my mother. She has supported me every step of the way, and I want to make her proud by continuing my education without putting more financial pressure on her. My family, my goals, and the people who have been supporting me motivate me to keep working hard and stay focused. I will be playing basketball in college at Cape Fear Community College, and I’m excited to continue growing both academically and athletically. My plan is to earn my radiography degree and keep pushing higher in my career while still pursuing basketball. I know it won’t be easy, but I have the work ethic, determination, and support system to make it happen. Receiving this scholarship would mean more than financial help. It would be a reminder that my hard work matters and that people believe in my future.
