Bio

My name is Charlene Fryson, and my life goal is to empower women by creating safe, supportive spaces where they can heal, grow, and recognize their worth. After surviving 2.5 years of domestic violence, I learned how powerful it is to rebuild yourself, and that experience sparked my passion for helping other women do the same. I’m now the Vice President of Women On A Mission, a community organization focused on uplifting women through mentorship, events, and outreach. I use my voice and my story to encourage women who feel lost or alone, and I work hard to bring resources and awareness to my community. My passion comes from a place of strength, faith, and wanting to be the support I once needed. I’m a great candidate because I’m dedicated, resilient, and committed to making a real impact. Everything I do, from mentoring young women, organizing empowerment events, or simply offering a listening ear, comes from my desire to serve and uplift others. I’m furthering my education so I can expand my impact and eventually create programs and resources that help women rebuild their lives. I’m passionate about helping women rise, and I’m determined to turn my purpose into long lasting change. This scholarship would help me continue my journey of growth, leadership, and giving back to my community.

Supporting others’ mental health has always been a priority for me, both in my personal life and in my community. I have worked to provide emotional support to friends, family, and peers by listening without judgment, offering encouragement, and helping them access resources when needed. For example, I have supported individuals navigating stress, anxiety, and difficult life transitions by creating a safe space for them to share their feelings and by helping them identify coping strategies. I also volunteer in community programs that promote wellness and self-care, where I help others develop healthy routines and habits that support both mental and physical well being. These experiences have taught me the importance of empathy, active listening, and the power of consistent support in helping someone navigate challenges. Pursuing my degree in Allied Health Science allows me to build on this passion in a professional capacity. My studies equip me with knowledge about human anatomy, physiology, and wellness, while also teaching me how physical health and mental health are deeply interconnected. By understanding this connection, I can better support individuals not just physically, but emotionally, helping them manage stress, build resilience, and maintain overall well being. I plan to integrate mental health support into my future career by educating patients about healthy lifestyle habits, stress management, and preventive care, while also being an empathetic presence who listens, encourages, and empowers them. My goal is to create a supportive environment in every setting I work in, emphasizing that mental health is just as important as physical health. I want to mentor young people, particularly those in underserved communities, teaching them coping strategies, promoting self-awareness, and encouraging them to seek help when needed. By combining my education, experiences, and personal commitment, I plan to help others navigate challenges with confidence, knowledge, and emotional support. Ultimately, my mission is to make mental wellness accessible, normalized, and integrated into everyday life. Through my career and community involvement, I hope to empower individuals to take control of their health, both mental and physical, while creating a lasting impact that uplifts and strengthens my community.
