Bio

In a wide world of names, a nerd was born with the name CHARITY. A Ghanaian rised with love and books. I am a very introverted person since I moved to the U.S. about 2 years ago. It was a big step for me to cope with the new environment, new conducts of order. English is my second language which I spoke back in Ghana but become a problem to speak at the landing of the plane in the great land of America. Unfortunately, that wasn't the only problem but Practice did make perfect. Atleast better for now. Being in a low income home, scholarships is our only hope for better education and falling out of debt.

      Women in Healthcare Scholarship
I have chosen to pursue a degree in health care because I am deeply motivated by the opportunity to help others and making a meaningful difference in people's lives during the most challenging moments they face. Health care is a field that combines science, compassion, and service, and it allows professionals to supports individual not only physically, but also emotionally and mentally. Some of my family members such as my mom, cousins and aunt work in the health care field or setting. From conversation about some medical field cases and movies, I develop interest in the health care field. Knowing that my actions could improve someone else's quality of life or provide comfort during difficult times of life is what inspires and motivates me to pursue this path. I have always been interested in biology and anatomy, but what really drew me was the opportunity to combine knowledge and excellence with service and also get money for doing something I actually enjoy doing. Through my experiences in school, exposure to importance of accessible and compassionate care, reading books , watching movies and observing health care professionals, I realized how impactful quality care can be- not just in the physicals form but mentally and emotionally as well. This realization strengthen my desire to pursue a health care degree so that I can contribute to a system that prioritizes empathy and patient-centered care. As a woman in the health care field, I hope to make a positive impact by advocating for patients, health equity and ensuring they feel heard, respected, supported, safe, and at peace. Women (or just females in general) often bring bring strong empathy, attention to detail, and communication skills into health care settings, which are essential for building trust, support and improving or promising results or outcomes. They also bring valuable perspective into the health care setting. This creates a more supportive health care environment especially for those patients who may feel overlooked or marginalized by fostering open communication and showing compassion. I also hope to serve as a role model, examples or at least an inspiration for young women and girls who may be interested in the health care setting but are confused or unsure of their place in field. By working hard, continuing to learn, and leading with compassion, peace, empathy, care and passion, dedication and commitment to service, I aim to contribute positively to a more inclusive and equitable health care system.
