While missiles, rockets, and bombs crossed the skies of Gaza, Northern Israel, and Lebanon, I continued studying in bunkers, classrooms, archaeological sites, and humanitarian volunteer spaces where access was permitted, witnessing individuals struggling to survive war, displacement, grief, and loss. Studying abroad during a livestreamed humanitarian crisis has changed me forever. My heart grieves for the precious souls lost, for children forced to inherit trauma, and for families whose suffering unfolded before the world in real time. I am an African American international student researcher studying abroad in Jerusalem, Israel. I am pursuing biblical, historical, and linguistic research with a deep passion for ancient Semitic languages and the anthology of Ancient Near Eastern literature. My thesis pioneers proprietary reconstruction simulations developed in collaboration with multidisciplinary, world-class experts, integrating archaeological evidence, historical investigation, and field-based scholarship to advance public understanding of the ancient world. Beyond my research, I seek to give voice to the brokenhearted and confront the fragility of human suffering. Through documentary filmmaking, I fearlessly challenge systemic racism disguised as religious identity, transforming how the world is seen through a lens that captures the collective wounds of humanity. I have exhausted my personal financial resources in pursuit of my education, and without scholarship support, I will be forced to leave my program before completing this critical stage of my academic journey.
