Teria Onwuaduegbo Black Women in STEM Scholarship
My career interests is any job within the aerospace engineering field. Only because there is only so many options available for me to enter. Since AI is taking over a lot of jobs things are only getting harder for people to accomplish. But to keep that in mind I still keep moving forward, I have graduated from my high school as class of 2026 and plan to move forward into being the class of 2030 having my bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and seeing where it can get me from there. I want to show that there are still many things possible for people especially black women to accomplish in their lives.
I want black women to know that they don’t have to be confined into the bubble that society has built for them. That black women are more powerful than they’re perceived to be and can do anything they want as long as they have the true dedication and desire for it. There are other things I have done mainly during my time in highschool, I have chosen to participate in many of the district wide events for engineering students mainly MESA Day, and CSDUH’s steam experience where they invited many students interested in arts and engineering to learn basic programming, design and animations especially how to work together as a team. For MESA day it was one massive competition between schools for building moon bases out of only cardboard, MESA machines, and airplanes. Those memories and the fun I had will forever live on within me because of all the being ideas that came from many different minds and the way events like those are what brings people closer together like one big family.
The next couple of steps I have taken over this summer is applying for summer jobs and looking around for things I can do that may give me experience for my career in the future. Applying to many scholarships has helped me as well because so far I have gotten just about 2 thousand dollars that will go towards my tuition! I am very proud of where I am at in my life but I won’t settle just yet not until I make it big. I will continue to apply for scholarships in the future because as people say there is so much scholarship money that doesn’t get used every year they want to give it out.
The Concrete Rose Scholarship Foundation
This scholarship will make me a great example for the next generation of young black girls. I am an undergraduate who is studying aerospace engineering and attending Tuskegee University in August. Within my family there are many of those who have struggled to get through their own education because of becoming a young parent, low income, and a history of parental drug usage when they were just babies. My main goal is to be an example for my young influential family members because of who they have to grow up around they don’t really see what they truly could become if they push that image aside and dedicate themselves to their own work.
This scholarship will help me with my future career goals by helping me afford to pay what I will owe the University for tuition and maybe I won’t be stuck worrying about student debt so I could put my best foot forward while looking for a great job in the aerospace field. Aerospace engineering or well engineering in general is something that has inspired me throughout my whole life. Because look at planes, cars, trains, stop lights and many other daily things people use! They’re all created by amazingly talented engineers along with black engineers who in this current time aren’t really recognizing for their work especially if it was a black woman. I want to build my own path as an aerospace engineer and maybe be the next big face in black women history.
To include something important this scholarship will help me as well by giving me the support I need to get through college because the support I will get is very slim. Being an out of state student makes things more challenging because if I do get a job I might just be scraping by with the money I receive since it won’t be the same amount as someone who grew up there. I need to afford books, housing, classes, food expenses, and transportation fees I will have to pay in the future. I don’t want to lose this hope that I have for myself and my career as an aerospace engineer just because of a cycle that follows many black Americans. I strive to be the second generation of college graduates in my family since my mother became the first in 2023 graduating with a degree in industrial and organizational psychology which I am very proud of her for and I am so grateful I got to be there for her graduation as well.
Julie Adams Memorial Scholarship – Women in STEM
I am passionate about the degree I am pursuing only because it gives me a chance to further develop my skills within aerospace engineering and I know the higher I go within my education it will open a lot of doors for me giving me great opportunities to do things I never thought I would be able to. For instance I thought I never would make it this far in my education only because of the stress I was put under with what was going on in my home at the time. But now looking at myself I get to figure out myself more and truly get a better grasp on what I am passionate about.
which is to learn how things work like one massive puzzle because I have always favored puzzles ever since I was little and I have always loved the process my brain goes through with thinking up many different solutions to how I can solve it so the more thought that went into it the better fun I had even if sometimes they did stress me out they were still very entertaining. Another thing to add is my strong love towards Sci-Fi technology that people come up with although a lot of it is illogical I always strive to think that in some way there will be a possibility of some sort of technology somewhat similar to that in the movies it would be able to save many peoples lives!
especially if there was a way to help people in need of cheap healthcare or a way to better fix the problem with dirty drinking water in specific cities. Because if there is no way to change that other than those people moving to somewhere that might not be affordable that would be very unjust. I just want to be able to help people and the world simultaneously without harm coming to either or even tough I do care for the planet more because it is what houses and takes care of us by giving us the resources needed in order to continue the human evolution.
But back to what makes me passionate is just the thought of being someone's living inspiration, to help someone, and to heal people along with the earth. There are a few thoughts running in my head but they are so big at the same time that I can't possibly forget them. There were teachers I once had for both science and engineering that moved me like no other to the point I cried from enjoyment because of the lessons that they have taught me along with getting to know what has brought them into their field of study.
I have also been passionate with engineering because I love to learn coding and the many methods of putting a machine together in order for it to work properly there are many times I have enjoyed what has come out of my own mind with little crafts I have made and can't wait to see what comes out of it further.
Ruthie Brown Scholarship
I want to address my future student loan debt by not having any what so ever. I want to be on top of all of my payments for my education to the point I won't even need to take out any loans I will be looking for many opportunities like work, work study, and maybe grants when the time comes for me to look at more of those. I will make sure I plan ahead before anything comes my way for student loans since I don't want to feel like I am drowning in the debt that will be created
for the classes I want to take a long with the materials needed to participate in those classes. For student loan debt I have learned how hard it can be to pay them off which is why I am scared of receiving them in the first place because there are some people I know in the world who cannot do anything productive towards their careers and with their life because they have student loan debt that is trailing directly behind them.
Although there are many different ways for me to choose from how to pay off student loan debt I fear with everything I put into paying it all off it will continue to get bigger and bigger I am worried that with my small experience in searching for jobs while getting rejected from others it almost feels impossible to dream about going to college with constant nonreassuring job finding.
There are also jobs that are being snatched up by AI along with those who are getting hired being incapable to work and this all takes away from those who need the jobs to help pay off the student loan debt that will be accumulated there will be the time for me to focus on paying off my student loan debt that is if I ever plan in the future to take out a student loan I want to be reassured that I can fully pay of that debt and be debt free in the end so I can actually enjoy my career and life without any worry of working myself to death in order to pay for these future endeavors.
I will be student loan debt free and if not I will do my best in order to work my way through my debt so I can pay it all off.
Code Breakers & Changemakers Scholarship
WinnerI have always had a strong passion for STEM because of the many cool things that are able to come out of it with black excellence included. My passion for STEM strongly comes from my love for science fiction and the will to help others and make sure things are as accessible as possible for them. Some things that I can think of through science fiction that have sparked this interest has to be through Star Trek, Star Wars, Transformers, Interstellar, Martian, Back to the future and so on with all of their high tech and futuristic medicine plans that were all thought of to help those who were severely hurt get back up again and live a normal life as with no backlash on heavy payment. And something that encourages me with wanting to go into STEM are the amazing characters in movies and those who are black in real life who have gone through many efforts to be recognized for the new things they have brought into the world to help improve technology into something beneficial for the world as a whole. I envision my STEM career to be something with robotic technology that people can reach out to no matter how far they are to get immediate diagnoses and equipment to help them when needed. I have read George Orwell's book 1984 which has given me a look on how technology can be used for bad within the wrong hands and makes people suffer which is why with my technology it will give people hope for better health that is cheaper and easy access for those with health insurance that won't help them strive as they should as a human being with the rights to get healthcare when needed. How this scholarship will help me bridge further into my future is by giving me the chance to strengthen my knowledge on technology to see how far I can push the limits on certain bounds until I make a new limit for how tech can be used in healthcare and in the workplace in general and maybe to bring better tech into industries never thought of like movies or art. This scholarship will equip me with the money needed to fuel that goal since it will make it easier on me and my family to afford my education since I am going out of state it will also be able help me afford the hands on tools I will need in order to progress in my class as I have always planned I won't have to cut myself short like a lot of my family members had to do in the past I will continue the legacy my mother has built for me to shine bright and be something new for the world to be astonished by.
Matthew E. Minor Memorial Scholarship
I need financial support that'll help me through college since I am a twin and one of two children starting their freshmen year in college. I am involved in my community through volunteering my time to help clean up the Vietnam mobile memorial back in 2024. And lastly I keep the youth safe online is trying to lead them into something they should do instead of mixing with a bad crowd of people and hope for their best in the future I am an advocate for those who cannot speak up for themselves being their voice when they are to scared to speak up. I want people in the world to understand that there are people there for them anywhere they decide to interact with people. there are those on many platforms who suffer from being embarrassed and ridicule for wanting to be who they are and I support those who want to be weird and different from the expected norm because it makes them happy. I have been on the internet long enough to understand what many people can go through and the extent of what they can go through and I always try my best to help them out by helping them find a space to mingle with people who are just like them! I think it is also a big part of life for teens and kids online to have a space where they can interact with each other safely instead of being pushed off of every platform ever that was made for them by the older audience invading their space and claiming it as theirs. There are those who I have watched who suffered from things online that affected them greatly and I have done everything I could to make things better for them. I want people to stand up and advocate for themselves even if they feel like they are unable to I want to be there in order to help those who feel stuck and or drained. I want people to feel like they have a community that they can reside within that makes them feel welcomes and helps them feel like they can truly be themselves in games and or on social media platforms with cosplaying, showing off their skills, and the indie animators and game creators I don't want anyone to feel discourage just because they have different interest that aren't as mainstream as others are.
