I am an academically curious college freshman with a passion for nature and marine biology and a commitment to fostering the next generation of environmental stewards. I believe in hands-on learning while making it fun. I am active member of the Outdoor Education Program at Colgate University where I help lead outdoor exploration trips that include canoeing, rock climbing, hiking, camping, ice climbing, snow shoeing and cross country skiing. I am certified as a Wilderness First Responder. I am also involved in volunteering as a young naturalist at Mass Audubon and an assistant camp counselor at Seacoast Science Center, both promoting environmental education within the community. My love for nature led me to a research apprenticeship position at Shoal Marine Laboratory on the Isle of Shoals. I also attended a semester at The Mountain School in Vershire, Vermont where I studied and worked on a sustainable farm. I also host a weekly radio show on the Colgate radio station. I love the arts, I have been involved with steel drums since first grade and I participated in the Global Rhythm Ensemble while at Phillips Exeter. Another way that I express my artistic side is by being involved with the Rubbish to Runway Re-fashion show as a designer and model of fashion created by recycled materials such as homework, drink pouches, college brochures, etc. I am studying natural sciences with a concentration on marine biology and education studies at Colgate University to futher my passion for teaching the next generation about the importance of caring for our planet.
