I have been a research assistant for the entirety of my undergraduate career and will be in graduate school as well. I have served as a teaching assistant and have tutored for multiple psychology classes at Ohio Northern University. I have served on executive positions and boards at the university and have been inducted into honor societies. My current plans are to attend the Psychology MA graduate school at the University of Buffalo. After I complete my Master's I plan on attending a Ph.D. program to eventually become a college professor to do research and teach.

The brain is the most complex organ within the human body that the field of psychology and neurosciences knows the least about. Humans are the most complex creatures possibly on earth, and among all of the research that has been conducted investigating the brain, there is still so much that is unknown. I am currently in the process of completing my Bachelor's Degree in psychology and will be pursuing a Master's Degree in psychology in the fall. I plan to not only obtain my Master's Degree but also obtain my Doctorate in the field of psychology.
The reason for my interest in the field of psychology is based on the complexity of the human brain. Additionally, I am and always have been someone who is fascinated by understanding the reasoning behind how something works. As a child, I constantly asked questions concerning "why does X do Y" and loved figuring out puzzles. The human brain is the largest puzzle of all. More importantly, not only is the human brain the main puzzle piece, but human behavior is one of the most important factors related to this organ. Without the understanding of how the brain can be manipulated or changed in any way in relation to the impact this manipulation or change causes on behavior, it is essentially useless to solely focus on changes in the brain.
Throughout my undergraduate career, I have been a research assistant for multiple projects aimed at investigating psychological questions. All of these projects had an underlying connection, in that they were concerned about developing questions and procedures that manipulated cognition or behavior in some way, with the final result being to understand how these manipulations influence cognition or behavior. One of these projects was an innovative NIH-funded research grant investigating Stress, Sex, and the Generalization of Fear within human subjects. Importantly, this project investigated both physiological, psychological, and behavioral aspects of human subjects. My successful undergraduate research experiences have provided me with experiences that will allow me to be successful in my Master's program where I will be conducting research, more specifically investigating biological aspects and their relation to behavior.
I plan to use these experiences within the next few years to obtain my doctoral degree in the field of psychology. After obtaining my doctoral degree, I plan on becoming a university professor to both teach and conduct research. I hope to both teach and mentor students within the field of psychology, but more importantly, provide them with similar research opportunities that I was fortunate to obtain within my undergraduate career. As a professor and researcher, I hope to not only educate students about the field of psychology but serve as a mentor and help them develop into successful students and researchers as well. Being able to provide students with hands-on research experiences will be the most important aspect of being a professor, as this has been the most influential aspect of my undergraduate career. Without the research experiences, I have obtained, it is clear that I would not be as successful as I currently am as a researcher, student, and teacher. Through my own fortunate experiences, I aim to provide future students with research and teaching opportunities to allow them to grow as researchers, students, and teachers in the same way that I was able to grow.
