Hi! My name is Catelyn (but you can call me Catie!). I am a senior at Agnes Scott College, passionate about pursuing a career in Pediatric Medical Social Work and advocating for increased access to mental health care in low-income African American communities. Being active in my community is incredibly important to me, which is why I have taken on roles that allow me to support others. As a peer advisor, I have learned the value of effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving. This role has allowed me to form meaningful connections with students from diverse familial backgrounds and support systems, gaining insight into how these factors shape their experiences and perspectives. Receiving scholarships would be invaluable in helping me achieve both my academic and personal goals as I work towards my MSW degree in the fall of 2027. Growing up in a low-income area, I have faced financial barriers that could hinder my pursuit of finishing my undergraduate degree and starting my graduate education. Scholarships would not only alleviate the financial burden but also reduce the need for loans, allowing me to focus more fully on my studies and my mission to serve my community.
