I'm currently a first year political science and philosophy major at Clemson University. Community involvement is very important to be. I work with my college radio station as a DJ. In the future, I hope to continue this nonprofit work.
Mental illness is something that I struggled with for most of my life, and I understand just how much it can impact every aspect of a person's life. After graduating, I would love to work with nonprofits focused on mental health or LGBTQ youth. Both issues are close to my heart, and I feel my connection to them would allow me to offer support.
As much as I appreciate getting an education to prepare for the workforce, I also feel there is benefit in educating yourself for the sake of knowledge. This is why I am so fond of philosophy. Although I might not pursue an adjacent career, it will guide me in all spheres of life.
I enjoy various activities such as crocheting, spending time with friends and family, and reading in my personal life. I enjoy philosophical books like Justice: What's The Right Thing To Do, classics such as War and Peace, and occasionally more contemporary novels by Sally Rooney or Ottessa Moshfegh.
What's most important is maintaining a balance between personal, social, and educational environments. I value my education, but not at the expense of my health and wellbeing. I enjoy socializing, but not to the extent of interfering with schooling. This balance is what creates a well-balanced person.
