I am a hardworking, confident, ambitious, compassionate person. I strive to make my mother proud to be the first person in my family to go to college and receive my PsyD in clinical psychology.
Later, I will open my own business to help as many people and assist them with treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders by developing strategies to improve their health, as well as help people get back on their feet after recovering.
On the side, I will be an inspiring entrepreneur in social media and spread the message of the necessity of therapy and how to improve mental health and break the stigma of counseling that discourages people to go.
Later on, in my career, I plan to transfer it to forensic psychology and apply my skills to the law and criminal justice. Assisting in any way I can with police interrogation, decision making, and criminal rehabilitation. My goal is to help numerous people and aim to change, impact, create a positive environment, a valuable, significant, and enduring change in individuals' lives, and impact them in such a way that they learn how to cope with trauma, illness, and a negative mentality to continue with their lives and grow.
My mom and I are the only ones trying to raise enough money to take me to college and have created three different business to help with our financial needs and to get to to my dream career.
I am devoted to help people in my community and in the world to improve and make a change so they can be inspired to make a change as well.

Bold Career Goals Scholarship
I've been interested in pursuing psychology since I was introduced to therapy at the age of twelve years old when I went through a traumatic experience involving my brother. The more I heard, the more I researched and realized that every single person in my life needs therapy and even if it was a small thing that happened to them it could subconsciously affect a person for the rest of their life.
So many people need help and most people living in this world are either unaware that they do or are stuck with the stigma that people say "Therapy is for crazy people'' which is completely wrong. Psychology is more than just talking to someone about your feelings, it is the study of the conscious and unconscious, childhood trauma, anxiety, syndromes, and traumatic experiences are just some out of many reasons why I am interested in pursuing psychology.
My goal one day is to be a clinical psychologist with my PsyD and work for a few years in fields such as hospitals or as a mental health technician to get experience. Opening my business to help as many people as I can. I want to assist people with treating mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders by developing strategies to improve their health, as well as help people get back on their feet.
On the side, I plan to be an entrepreneur in social media and spread the message of the necessity of therapy and how to improve mental health and break the stigma of counseling that discourages people to go. Later on, in my career, I plan to transfer it to forensic psychology and apply my skills to the law and criminal justice. Helping in any way I can with police interrogation, decision making, and criminal rehabilitation.

I've been interested in pursuing psychology since I was introduced to therapy at the age of twelve years old when I went through a traumatic experience involving my brother. He passed away at the age of four years old by choking on a grape. For many years I blamed myself and went through years of depression and anxiety when it came to food. Through those tough years of handling my depression and anxiety I sought out help and went to therapy. I never truly was in love and so sure with this career until my mother sought out help from realizing all her childhood trauma and we bonded over the importance of therapy and how it helped us. The more I heard, the more I researched and realized that every single person in my life needs therapy and even if it was a small thing that happened to them it could subconsciously affect a person for the rest of their life. So many people need help and almost half of the people living in this world are either unaware that they do or are stuck with the stigma that people say "Therapy is for crazy people'' which is completely wrong. Psychology is more than just talking to someone about your feelings, it is the study of the brain and its functions. The conscious and unconscious, childhood trauma, anxiety, syndromes, and traumatic experiences are just some out of many reasons why I am so interested in pursuing psychology. My goal one day is to be a clinical psychologist with my PsyD and work for a few years in fields such as hospitals or as a mental health technician to get experience. I was motivated to volunteer in this organization by a powerful inspirational woman named Genesis Gomez in my hometown Laredo Texas. She has always been driven to give more than to receive and truly is a prime example of what a human should be. I knew she was gonna do this impact and I automatically wanted to volunteer so I asked her and she said yes. So I gave food to homeless people, and helped her prepare meals.
Our project made such an impact that all the people in that organization appeared on the Laredo Texas news and newspapers. We wanted to make a difference in those peoples lives but also impact other people to do the same. We want to spread the message that most Americans live on one paycheck away from landing on the streets and it's circumstances like that that lead them to sleep in their cars, being evicted from their homes, or not having enough money to pay for food. That this is not a lifestyle and that they should have the best opportunities just as everyone else. We raised around $5000 in a week and the pounds of food collected were around 1,600 lbs of canned food not including snacks.
Although that was a donation that was created by the gag collection I tend to continue her legacy that she inspired me to do and donate and help as many homeless people as I can to inspire my generation and many others to change the narrative. Everyone deserves a place to live and food in order to survive and if people aren't giving them the opportunity for jobs or to get back on their feet. I plan on making my own organization called The Change and continue on giving to families in need.

I went through years of handling my depression and anxiety but I never truly was in love and so sure with this career until my mother sought out help from realizing all her childhood trauma and made me go to experience therapy for the first time.
I went in with thinking that I was okay but my therapist helped me coped and made me realize that it was okay to not be okay. My Latin roots. That is why I work hard every day for what I achieve because I know that I'm the only person that can do it for myself. Growing up with parents that are Latin American and that only knew the Spanish language made me realize from a young age that I had to work hard for myself and my future to help them especially since I was the only person in my family to make it past graduating high school.
They always say that their goal is to see me succeed and have a better life than they did which always motivates me to keep on going. My mom worked so hard to give me an amazing life, by getting two jobs, trying to pay the bills, and prioritizing me over everything. She is my number one supporter throughout and has given me the steps to create a great life for myself and has taught me so many things for life. My family’s relationship with me is rather difficult but it has taught me so much about what kind of person I am and even though it is difficult I love them dearly.
Seeing all the sacrifices my mom has done for me made me have a sense of leadership and I learned that to protect the people I love the most I need to be responsible, have ownership, be kind, be hard-working, and strive for my future. Growing up has been hard personally. I've gone through a lot of good experiences that no seventeen-year-old should go through. But I have achieved so much, for example, I have worked hard to get dance solos for the past three years in Color Guard, created three small businesses to help my mothers with our financial needs which include a painted jacket business, a thrift clothing business that is called Red Lips Thrift, and Lumiere Vanity specialized to sell some of the best vanity's in Laredo, making it into National Honor Society and having the opportunity to help my community, and truly succeeding in everything I set my mind to.
Although there were good experiences, there were also bad experiences. Some people told me I didn't deserve what I achieved, significant bullying, financial stress, the loss of family and so many personal problems that have affected my depression and anxiety but after years of therapy and after adding people in my life that motivate me and always give me words of encouragement, made me into the hardworking, confident, ambitious, compassionate person that I strive to be for the rest of my life.
I strive to make my mother proud to be the first person in my family to go to college and receive my PsyD in clinical psychology.
