Hello, my name is Cassandra! I am a Business Administration student with a 3.9 GPA, balancing academics, a part-time job, leadership roles, and volunteer work. I have gained valuable experience as a sales associate, developing customer service and financial handling skills, and through my Teachers for Tomorrow internship, where I strengthened my leadership and teamwork abilities. Additionally, I placed second in an engineering competition at Virginia Tech, demonstrating my problem-solving and collaboration skills.
I also volunteer with Last Chance Animal Rescue at PetSmart, reinforcing my sense of responsibility and commitment to community engagement. I plan to study abroad in South Korea, using scholarships to help fund this opportunity. Growing up with a mother who is El Salvadoran and being surrounded by her friends from various countries, I was exposed to diverse cultures from a young age. This experience ignited my passion for learning about the world and working with people from different backgrounds. I realized early on that I wanted to travel, connect with others, and understand how cultures shape the way we interact, do business, and live. I know that the experiences I’ll gain through this study abroad will allow me to expand my understanding of international business and supply chain management, preparing me for a future career in consulting, global trade, or logistics—fields I am currently very interested in pursuing.

Kumar Family Scholarship
I am a first-generation college student with a strong passion for accounting and international business. I am currently pursuing a Business Administration degree, maintaining a 3.9 GPA, while balancing academics, a part-time job, leadership roles, and volunteer work. As someone who values hard work and determination, I am committed to excelling academically and contributing to my community through extracurricular activities, including volunteering at Last Chance Animal Rescue at PetSmart. These experiences have helped me develop leadership, teamwork, and communication skills that will serve me well in my future career.
Growing up in a low-income family, I’ve always understood the value of education and the sacrifices that are often made in order to pursue it. Being a first-generation college student comes with its own set of challenges, especially when navigating the complexities of higher education without a strong support system to rely on. I am fully aware of the financial obstacles that can hinder my progress, including tuition, textbooks, and other school-related expenses. Despite these challenges, I’ve worked hard to maintain my GPA and stay involved in extracurricular activities.
This scholarship would be an invaluable resource in helping me continue my education and achieve my long-term academic and career goals. With financial assistance, I would be able to reduce the financial burden on my family and focus more on my studies, rather than worrying about how to pay for school. It would allow me to allocate more time to participate in enriching academic opportunities, including internships and study abroad programs, which are essential for my growth in the fields of accounting and international business.
I am particularly interested in accounting because of its problem-solving nature and its critical role in business decision-making. I am also passionate about international business because I see it as a way to create connections between diverse cultures and economies, and I want to be part of a global business environment that values collaboration and growth. By pursuing a career in these fields, I aim to make a meaningful impact by helping organizations improve their financial operations and navigate the complexities of international trade.
This scholarship would not only provide the financial support I need but also motivate me to continue pushing toward my educational and professional goals. I am committed to making the most of every opportunity this scholarship provides, and I am determined to succeed in my studies and contribute to the world around me.
