I am a mother, a fighter, and a student of the world. I was highly active in high school, participating in the National Honor Society, the International Thespian Society, and being chosen to sing at Carnegie Hall and perform in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. After receiving scholarships to pursue an education in music and theater, I realized that I could do more for the world with my talents. Having a keen interest in home remodeling, I began to pursue job opportunities working with a General Contractor. I was taught the business, and I fell in love. My "light-bulb moment" came and I chose to pursue architecture, as it lends to both my creative and intellectual strengths. What drives me is the immense potential to leave a lasting impact on the world. My academic goals include a Bachelor of Science in Architecture with a minor in Sustainability. Then, I hope to complete a double master's in Architecture and Urban & Regional Planning. Along with my determination, I hope to use these degrees in my career to enact systemic change in our built environment that promotes sustainable building practices and healthy civilizations. I know this is my place to make a realistic impact for the better. I hope to create a better world for my daughter and act as a role model for my nearly-two-year-old. The financial undertaking of both parenthood and education is a taxing challenge. A scholarship would provide me with support to invest in stable and quality childcare, providing me with peace of mind and confidence in my ability to commit to my education.
