I have always had a hard time focusing in class and trying to memorize everything I learned. I often forget my own age, so how am I going to remember all the exact parts of an organelle or the specific rule for a circle? I remember running late to tutorial and I was invited to an MCP (Medical Certificate Program) meeting, which was way out of my league there. I mean there were so many smart kids I recognized and I was a failed AP bio student, I couldn't help but feel like I didn't belong. But it was that feeling of not belonging that made me want to prove that I could do it and now I graduated all three years and I have never been more happy in my life about being stubborn. At school something I have always struggled with is math. It's why my GPA is so low is because I have consistently failed math and had to go to summer school to bump it up to a C. My hope is once I'm in college, I will be able to ask more questions and not fear being called stupid or judged for not understanding the subject. That's one of the main reasons why I want to go to a four year school. It's a way to soft lock myself into making sure I won't drop out and leave. Because the last thing I want to do is to get to college and feel so out of place that I will drop out and go. Another thing I look forward to in college is meeting all the different people. At school the way I sort of scrape by in classes is unless I understand entirely what I'm learning, I sorta cling to the smartest person I can find in the class and try to have them teach me the subject. At college, I hope to achieve this goal as well, the goal of making a friend in at least one class who I can turn to when I need help would be great! Another appeal of college for me is probably something that isn't a big appeal to other students which is bigger class sizes. I like being in a bigger class because it means I can work unnoticed and when I ask questions I don't have to worry about being singled out as most people wont even know who I am or what I'm like. Where as in smaller classes, everyone tends to know everyone which can lead to gossip or those awkward silences where no one speaks up in fear of being wrong or being singled out and remembered as the dumb student. I think overall that freedom to ask questions without fear of being judged is a major appeal to me for college because I have so many questions but I always hold them back because of the fear I feel about being judged or being thought of being dumb if that makes sense.
