    #Back2SchoolBold Scholarship
Take care of yourself. The whole point of pursing higher education is to better ourselves, and on this journey of bettering ourselves we sometimes neglect our mental and physical health. It's very contradicting. We go to school to get one step ahead and if we aren't careful we end up several steps behind. Staying on top of our studies is important, but our over all wellbeing needs to be our priority. How can we actually be prosperous and productive with our degrees if we neglected ourselves to achieve them? A degree is just a piece of paper, and it's absolutely useless without a living breathing healthy human behind it. In order to bring purpose to our degrees, we need to prioritize ourselves. One way we can focus on ourselves during our studies is to make sure we take breaks. Rather than studying in long periods of time that lead to burnouts, we should take breaks and study in intervals. Furthermore, we need to go outside and get some fresh air. We need to provide our bodies with oxygen, so they can preform the functions we need to survive. Just take care of yourself in whatever form that you need. Instagram:@carsonlaneharris
    Learner Math Lover Scholarship
Math has always been one of my favorite subjects. As a kid it was easy for me to learn, and I enjoyed trying to understand the different patterns of mathematics. It always seemed to be practical because it helped me develop critical thinking and reasoning skills. My fifth grade teacher, Mrs. Austin, deserves a lot of credit for my love of math. She created an environment that made math fun and she taught us the importance of it. As a child, I often found my self asking questions like "when would I need to know that the Mitochondria is the power house of the cell?" You see, I wouldn't need to know this to go about my regular life. However, math and the concepts of it are something that we all use regularly. When we go to the store and pay in cash, we are doing math. I see why math was a part of my curriculum for so long. The reason being is that I see and do math daily to make predictions, account, and solve problems. As a business major, I really appreciate mathematics. It allows us to see relationships and form financial analysis. Without math economics would be even more difficult to understand and possibly wouldn't exist. Using the first quadrant of a graph, we can graph production-possibility curves and see where production is most efficient with the given resources and technology. We use math to see relationships and correlations. Without math accounting would be difficult, well actually the whole concept of it wouldn't exist (Would this mean no taxes? Is this good or bad?). Without math there would be no computers or cars. Imagine a life without technology. Most likely you are reading this on an electronic device that uses math, or you used a printer that uses math to print a copy. Without math I wouldn't have this opportunity to write this. Without math there would be no concept of time or understanding of how things work including the rotation of the earth. Without math our lives would be more chaotic, and we would be searching for answers that could not be answered. I love math because it gives purpose and understanding to life in a world that is confusing and contradicting. I love math because it encompasses so much more than we know and it's so old as it dates back to ancient societies.
