Growing up I always had a huge support system from my family. In third grade, my little brother was murdered, and it was the most devastating thing ever. Thanks to the support system that I have, I was able to move up from that moment; and because of this event, I had made up my mind that I wanted to help people, especially when I grew up. I did not want another family member of mine getting the devastating news that one of their children had passed, so I always said that I would “become a doctor so nobody would get hurt again”. Being the oldest of 4, made me fond of children, so whenever I was offered babysitting options, I would do it. Throughout my high school years, I volunteered at events and helped with babysitting whenever I could as well, watched my siblings on weekends and studied the way they were. once I got into my junior year of high school, I was set on becoming a surgeon or nurse but I was not sure whether id focus on pediatrics or trauma. reflecting on the number of times I’ve spent babysitting I made up my mind to focus on pediatrics. becoming a pediatric surgeon and/or a NICU nurse has been at the top of my list. I love children and providing them with the love they need while in need of care is the one thing I want to provide.
