I am a first-generation college graduate from a low-income immigrant family, originally from the Dominican Republic and raised in the same community I now serve, Brooklyn. My life’s work has been rooted in community empowerment, helping underserved families access resources, healthcare, and opportunities that I once struggled to find myself. As Director of Operations at the Broadway Community and Activity Center in Brooklyn, I manage grants, oversee daily operations, and lead programs that provide food security, mental health support, harm reduction services, and case management to thousands of New Yorkers each year. My background also includes work in healthcare as a medical technician, trainer, and phlebotomist, which deepened my passion for patient care and advocacy. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Biology, graduating summa cum laude, with research focused on maternal depression and child cognition. Alongside my degree, I’ve gained certifications in phlebotomy, overdose prevention, motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention. Now, as an ABSN student at Pace University, I am working toward becoming a registered nurse in the ICU. Critical care excites me because it demands the highest level of skill, compassion, and resilience. Fluent in English and Spanish, I strive to bridge cultural gaps in healthcare and be a voice for immigrant and low-income families, turning my own journey into a source of healing and impact for others.
