Bio

Hello, My name is Carlos Dhayer and I hope to earn a scholarship(s) to help finance my education. I live in Murrieta, CA with my wife, Jessica, our two beautiful daughters together, Charlotte and Emma, and our two Australian Shepherds, Maia and Riley. I am a retired U.S. Navy Deep Sea Diver, a Nationally Registered EMT, and am now the Director of Operations at Paradise Hyperbarics in Temecula, CA. I am incredibly passionate about Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) and truly pride myself on providing the highest-quality of HBOT care and excellent experiences to each of my patients.   After being honorably discharged and medically retired, I chose to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration and National University and graduated with honors. My current educational and professional goals are to earn a Master of Public Health with a specialization in Healthcare Administration, with honors, then use that degree to obtain a position within a large healthcare system, ideally with the Veterans Affairs. A few interesting things about my career would be that I have cleared live minefields underwater, gone diving in the Arctic Circle, and even trained mine-seeking dolphins. With the little free time I have, I enjoy spending it with my family and friends in our new home, doing home renovations, traveling to make new memories, and I recently took up golfing which is a lot of fun. I am currently maintaining a 4.0 GPA and look forward to graduating in April 2023. Thank you in advance for your consideration about granting me a scholarship. Sincerely, Carlos Dhayer

Making healthcare more equitable requires providing everyone with the opportunity to be healthy. As a disabled veteran and Hispanic working in the healthcare field today, I have personally witnessed some great strides being made in the name of health equity, but agree that we still have a lot of work to do. As healthcare professionals, I believe that it is our duty to help ensure that every patient in the U.S. healthcare system has access to affordable, high-quality medical care regardless of their age, race, gender, socioeconomic status, or geographic location. Addressing disparities in access to healthcare is one of the best ways to reform our current healthcare system. Since everyone is different, providing the exact same care at the same price is not enough to improve disparities in health equity. As the Director of Operations at a Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) facility, I provide affordable access to a specialty healthcare service that utilizes advances in technology to deliver high-quality services fo each and every one of my patients. In addition to offering military, law enforcement, and first responder discounts, we also offer different discount packages and make an effort to provide additional financial support in some cases. I do this because I belive that the most impactful way to address inequities in our healthcare system today, is to make healthcare more affordable. Governement programs or the implementation of a universal, single-payer system, will increase access for so many patients across the UnitedStates. By increasing access, more patients will seek preventative healthcare services and receive appropriate treatments sooner. This will improve health outcomes and lessen the burden that chronic diseases has on our healthcare system. I plan to use my Master of Public Health degree to develop and implement policies for a large healthcare system that increases access for everyone.
