I remember when I was around 7 or 8 years old, I used to love going on my grandmother’s computer and playing games like Papa’s Pizzeria, Papa’s CupCakeria, and Papa’s Freezeria. In this game you are a small business owner working to get more customers in your store. You do task like hire new employees, pay for repairs, and serve the customers. So from a young age I’ve learned certain aspects needed to run a successful business. My Name is Carlos Collins, I am senior from Tampa, Florida with a 5.87 gpa. I was able to maintain this gpa all while playing football, running track, working a job, and helping around my community. I have over 120 community service hours with the Emergency Care Help Organization (E.C.H.O) where I help people in need get food and shelter. I have taken and passed college Principles of Microeconomics and Statistics. At subway (my current job) I have to count to make sure all the money earned that day is correct. Since we take cash everyday I have to count to make sure the amount of cash we have in the register adds up to the amount on the computer. If the number counted is lower than what the computer says it should be than the store lose money (which could range from stealing or a simple miscommunication). The biggest finances that I have to maintain is gas for my car and making sure I pay my phone bill. If I don’t put gas in my car then I won’t be able to go to work, I won’t have any money to pay for my phone bill, and if I don’t pay my phone bill my phone will get shut off. This is a downward slope that would affect me getting my school work completed since majority of the assignments need to be submitted online through an app called canvas. I have recently started business on cutting hair. The experience takes me back to when I was younger playing Papa’s Pizzeria. I am cutting hair and trying to gain more customers while paying for my supplies or any damages. However, unlike the game, I’m not making any pizzas and I’m not hiring any employees. I plan on making sports gear from a cheaper, safer, and more efficient material than the gear being sold at our current market. As an athlete myself I know that athletic gear is far from cheap. So much so that I wasn’t able to play sports until I reached high school because my parents couldn’t afford it. I would make my athletic gear more affordable than my competitors, which should make my business international. In hopes that people across the globe can get the equipment to play the sport that they love.
