My name is Carleigh Rice. I am an undergraduate from Chicago, Illinois. My purpose in coming to college is to invest in my education so I have the knowledge and skills to prepare me for any career field I wish to pursue. By taking this path, I know college will provide me with great opportunities to achieve my dreams and goals. I want to live a financially free life so I can be the source for my family and friends when they need me. Another reason I'm continuing my education is to become the most excellent version of myself. Self-improvement is important to me. I believe college will enhance my productivity, time management, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and discipline. This will help me become my ideal self which is needed in the business field I'm majoring in. I chose this career field because as a child, I loved to create. It is my favorite thing to do. I would make music, draw, and build castles. I always had this burning desire to create. Using my imagination made life exciting and colorful. I believe if I spread my imagination to the world, it will create great changes for our society. So as I said, College gives great opportunities so I am not going to let this opportunity slip from my fingers. I am going to be bold and show myself to the world!

As Budda once said, "What we think, we become."
It's Tuesday, 1 AM in the morning. I am awake. I am in my bed working on an English assignment that was due pass 11:59 PM. The only light in my room was my yellow glowing computer screen flickering in the dark. It was quiet. No sound except of the aggressive clicking and tapping of my fingers hitting the keyboard.
There I go again, having the same unhealthy habits as I had last year. Nothing in my life was improving. Every wrong decision I make caused an even bigger consequence than I thought It would.
"No, I'll do it later". This mindset has set me up for failure. The first year of my senior year was rough. I was always tired. Taking care of myself was like a chore to me. I didn't drink water for days or even cleaned my room.
The only thing I did was mindlessly scrolling my life away on tiktok to distract myself from my problems. Eventually, I would fall asleep and then, do the same thing every single day. I was like a robot, programed to do the same repetitive motions all day because that's all it knew.
Deep down, I know this lifestyle was not the only thing I was familiar with. Yet, I didn't have the guts to change because of the mess I made in my life.
Not until, next year.
I felt really good for some reason, like, I had a second chance to redeem myself. "This year, I will become the best version of myself." As I say to myself.
And so, I did. My words became actions.
I started completing my work on time and managed to have almost all As in my classes! Never in my life, would I thought I could achieved that! I started taking good care of myself. Exercising my body and nourishing it. Yes, I do have some days where I don't feel like doing anything but because of my mindset, it gave me strong will to do anything. So, like Budda once said, words really do have power over what we are. I have the power to change, all of us do. But it starts from within. The key of being successful is knowing you could do it when your brain is telling you the opposite. Being mentally strong is my super power. I could do anything and will now continue to do so.
