As someone who personally knew Avani Doshi, I can say that her inspiring spirit was like no other and I am forever grateful that I got to experience it firsthand. Avani was always the light in the room and put a smile on every person’s face. Everything she did was out of pure love and care for the people around her, never one to be selfish. She has motivated me to continue on her legacy and give the same energy that she would have in any situation. I am currently a pre-k teacher aide at a childcare and preschool near me, which has taught me how truly important having these characteristics are. You must be very patient and understanding of everything a child is going through and their needs. They are very young children, and it is necessary to show them as much love as possible. Avani had a very playful, loving personality that I try my best to portray onto them. This way they are able to grow up with that installed in them from the beginning. Working with kids can be tough sometimes as I face many different situations that I may not necessarily know how to handle, but pushing through and being the best version of myself allows for everything to go much smoother. Consistently keeping a more positive outlook on situations allows for much easier solutions to be created. I strive to be able to handle situations with such ease as she did, never complaining or asking for help but doing everything she possibly could on her own. As I plan to go onto become an elementary teacher, these are very important traits for me to continue on and share with others. Teaching the children to be independent, while also continuously showing kindness to all around. Being positive and supportive to my future students is crucial to being the best teacher I can possibly be, which is exactly what Avani would do. It is very hard to believe that she has been gone for eleven years now, because I have not gone one day without having her memory cross my mind and impact me. She will forever have such a huge influence on the people that got to know her, she is unforgettable. The good spirit she brought into life will inspire me to be my best self every day, and I will do my best to inspire others to do the same.
