My passion for becoming a special education teacher is rooted in my belief that every student deserves to feel seen, valued, and capable of success. Some struggled to speak, some learned differently, and others believed they weren’t as capable as everyone else. Because of this, they stayed quiet and kept to themselves. One day, a new teacher arrived. She didn’t bring anything fancy, but instead she brought patience, kindness, and a belief that every child mattered. At first, the children didn’t trust her. They were used to being overlooked. But she took her time. She listened, even when they didn’t speak. She noticed small efforts and celebrated them. Instead of teaching every child the same way, she changed her approach for each student. She found ways to make learning feel possible and safe. Slowly, the children began to open up. A student who never spoke started to share ideas. Another who struggled began to feel proud of their progress. Over time, the classroom changed. I am passionate about early childhood education because it provides the opportunity to shape a child’s foundation for learning, confidence, and emotional growth during some of the most important years of their life. My experiences working with children, along with my personal journey managing anxiety, have deeply influenced my desire to become an early childhood educator.
