I watched my dad proudly enter the crowd in his army uniform. His stride was confident, and every step radiated happiness within me. For me, this wasn’t just a ceremony it was the ultimate finish line. My dad made it, and in that instant, it felt like a victory I could pursue on the battlefield of running. Let me be clear, I’m not joining the military anytime soon. Boot camp and I would most likely not get along. That day, I realized service runs deep in my family. My father served his country, and that calling spoke to me differently. For me, it wasn’t about combat boots; it was about my turbo toes and the track beneath my feet. When my dad served, I was at home serving cookies to my toy dinosaurs at a young age. As I grew older, my sense of service evolved. It wasn’t about toys anymore, but competition. I wasn’t just running; I was running with purpose. The first time, I ran competitively and almost saw stars at the end of the finish line. I thought I was ready to embody a hero, crossing the finish line like Captain America with a flag behind me. But instead, I crossed that line more like a deflated balloon—gasping for air. That moment ignited something in me—a desire not just to run but to serve something greater than myself. College track became my mission, my battleground. As my dad approached every mission with determination, I, too, decided to give my best effort. The "Germageddon” (Covid-19) of 2020 had derailed me, but as school started again, I dove into the track team and campus life. I joined the Black Student Union—my “Heritage Homies”—and became active and well-rounded. Yet, as any soldier knows, the path to triumph is rarely smooth. Initially, I faced obstacles and many people thought I might have taken a permanent vacation from racing. Like every setback, I found myself disappointed. But instead of retreating, I tightened my weights, honed my techniques, and ran harder. It was like basic training but with hurdles. Much like my father prepared to serve his country, I was preparing for the collegiate track. My training schedule was my battlefield and my track shoes were my armor. Each race became a mission I faced with the same determination my dad had during his service. I relied on support from my teammates and a music playlist to outrun my doubts. However, my mission wasn’t just about running fast; it was about proving to myself that I could stand up when life knocked me down; just like Rocky facing Apollo Creed. Getting cut from the track team wasn’t the end—it was a chance to let my fire grow. I reworked my strategy and trained harder. The lessons my father instilled in me were the foundation. It was never about fighting but the heart you put into the mission. Looking ahead to college, I know my mission isn’t just to lace up my spikes and run circles around the track. Life, like track, requires knowing when to sprint, when to pace, and how to leverage your assets. Whether in a uniform like my dad’s or a pair of track spikes, I know my mission will always be clear: ready to serve, go beyond my limitations, and take on any challenge. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my dad, it’s this: The true mark of a soldier or a runner isn’t how fast you finish—it’s how much heart you put into every step.

My name is Camren, and I’m a high school senior with a deep interest in business, finance, and helping others. I’ve always been someone who works hard, stays focused, and thinks ahead. Whether it’s through academics, athletics, or planning for my future, I believe in pushing myself to grow every day. I currently maintain a 3.6 GPA while taking AP and honors courses, and I plan to major in business management or accounting in college, then pursue a master’s degree. My ultimate goal is to become a sports finance manager and work for a major organization like the NFL or NBA. But beyond career success, I want to use my education and experiences to give back—to my community and the world. I believe I should be selected for this scholarship because I’m determined to turn my vision into action. I come from a hardworking family, and my father, a U.S. Army veteran, has taught me the value of service, discipline, and resilience. With his support and example, I’ve learned not to back down from challenges. This scholarship would help me continue my education without the heavy burden of student debt, allowing me to stay focused on achieving my goals and making a difference. One of the biggest ways I plan to make a positive impact is through financial education. I’ve seen how a lack of financial knowledge holds people back, especially in underserved communities like mine. Too many families struggle because they don’t understand credit, budgeting, or investing. I want to change that. As someone studying finance, I plan to share what I learn by organizing financial literacy workshops in my community. I want to teach young people and families how to build wealth, make smart decisions, and avoid debt traps. Financial freedom is one of the first steps to stability, and stability gives people the power to create real change. I also believe in giving back through mentorship. I’ve always appreciated the teachers, coaches, and family members who guided me. I know how important it is to have someone who believes in you. Once I’m in college and beyond, I want to return to my old schools, volunteer at youth programs, and mentor students who are trying to figure out their future. Whether it’s through helping them understand college applications, develop a career path, or stay focused on their goals, I want to be that support system for someone else. On a broader scale, I also want to influence how money is used to support sustainability and equality. As a future finance professional, I plan to advocate for investing in eco-friendly businesses, minority-owned companies, and organizations that are making a real difference. I believe that money has the power to shape the world, for better or worse—and I want to be on the side that uses it to make things better. Ultimately, I’m someone who believes in purpose and action. I’m not just working toward a career—I’m working toward a future where I can use my knowledge to help others grow, build, and succeed. With the help of this scholarship, I’ll be able to pursue higher education, expand my impact, and make meaningful contributions to both my community and the world. I’m ready to take the next step, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be considered.

When I was younger, I often viewed environmental change as primarily the realm of scientists and activists—those individuals who tirelessly planted trees and organized protests in hopes of saving the planet. This perspective, while valid, started to evolve as I delved deeper into the world of finance. I came to realize that significant environmental impact can actually begin with the flow of money. Financial decisions made by individuals, businesses, and governments can dramatically shape our environment and influence the sustainability of our practices. In the next five years, I plan to harness my passion for finance with the intention of fostering positive change both locally and globally. My fascination with numbers and the intricacies of budgeting has led me to pursue a degree in business management or accounting, ultimately aiming for a master's degree. However, my ambitions stretch far beyond traditional finance management. I aspire to use my financial knowledge as a catalyst for transformative change in society. I believe that sustainable finance is essential for promoting environmentally responsible investments, advancing cleaner technologies, and enabling better societal decisions that consider both economic growth and environmental health. On a local level, I envision myself educating others, particularly young people, about the importance of financial literacy and its direct connection to sustainability. Many individuals in my community are unaware that even small financial choices—such as choosing to support eco-friendly businesses or investing in renewable energy—can have a profound impact on our environment. To address this gap in understanding, I plan to lead workshops that demonstrate how financial decisions can marry smart financial practices with sustainability goals. Through hands-on activities and real-life examples, I hope to inspire others to consider the environmental implications of their financial choices. On a broader scale, I aspire to work with firms dedicated to sustainable investing. As I gain experience in the finance sector, my goal is to direct funds toward businesses that prioritize environmental responsibility. By focusing on companies that are committed to sustainable practices, I aim to contribute to a larger movement that shifts the economy toward greener standards. I believe that as sustainability becomes increasingly integrated into business models, it is vital for financial professionals to be at the forefront, guiding investments that not only promise returns but also contribute to the health of our planet. Ultimately, I see myself starting my own financial consulting firm. My vision is to empower small and minority-owned businesses to implement green practices in a way that is both effective and affordable. Many of these businesses may struggle to find the resources or knowledge necessary to make the transition to sustainable practices. By offering tailored financial advice and support, I aim to help them navigate the complexities of green investments and practices. I firmly believe that finance can be a powerful force for positive environmental change, creating a sustainable future for all. By merging financial growth with environmental stewardship, we can pave the way for a world where our economic choices leave a beneficial legacy for generations to come. It is my hope that through my efforts, I can contribute to a future where financial decisions align seamlessly with the preservation and enhancement of our environment, ultimately leading to a healthier planet for everyone.
