My interest in social work honestly stems from my upbringing. Majority of my family members are immigrants that relocated to America in hopes of finding better. From an early stage in my life, my upbringing consisted of mental abuse and trauma that I endured as a child. As I grew older, I started to grow aware of the behavior exhibited in my life and how I noticed it wasn’t ok and I wanted to change that. It made me start to realize that I yearned for someone that cared about not just my well-being, but my family as well. That’s what being a social worker is all about. Social workers are individuals who care about the environment and want to make a difference on ongoing issues that are ignored in households. I want to be that someone that I didn’t have growing up, and that’s where my passion for social work lies.
