My name is Camila Solano, and I go to Copper Canyon High School. I plan on attending Grand Canyon University to be a pediatric nurse. I always wanted to go into the medical field to help others. Seeing the nurse's kindness poured into my mom. In her battle with cancer, the nurses supported her and truly lifted her up. I thrive to be a difference maker and make the world a brighter place like many healthcare providers have shown me. Currently, I have many opportunities to spread positivity like through my volunteering services at church, internship, and later on in my future career. Firstly, I have made a positive impact through my internship with United Hospice. By providing support, education, and consultation with individuals who are undergoing a serious illness, death, or grief. My short visits show a large impact by not having just a volunteer but a friend. When I undertake another patient, I am happy to help someone's son or daughter even though they are beyond those years. These visits are filled with laughter, smiles, and strong connections. Which flourish into relationships that make each patient unforgettable. The smiles that appear every time I come to visit are truly heartwarming and makes me want to visit every day. My internship experience prepares me for the future nursing career and the lives I will impact. Secondly, I volunteer in the toddler's room at Palm Valley Church on Sundays and plan to continue my impact there. Helping their families enjoy service without the nags from their children and feel less worrisome. To know their children are in good hands. Also showing and being that positive person for them are crucial for early development. For the five years, I been in the toddler's room I love seeing the smiles the toddlers have especially the ones who I have special connections with. I started volunteering young meaning I was limited on how to help with the overall function of the room. Now that I head into adulthood, I can help out more. By making the service run smoothly and making sure the toddler heads home safely. The lessons I learned through volunteering helps with my future career by giving me more experience to handle little ones. By not having that experience with being an only child. So, my volunteering knowledge helps with my plan to be a nurse in the pediatric wing to spread positivity through communication and showing an impact through their eyes. Overall, I thrive to be the difference maker like many nurses I came across. So, I will continue to go through my plan on getting my Bachelors. To assist people and use my bubbly energy to uplift others especially patients. Along with wherever my volunteer path takes me. If that means continuing my path in toddlers or even advancing and moving up to another department. I will continue my impact through my volunteering services. Also, my life experience can help uplift patients by knowing what to say when their families are going through similar situations. Which will empower not only the patients but the family because being in a loving, supportive family who was there for my mom really made an impact. I am forever grateful and I want to deliver that same love and support to my future patients. Not all patients have that love, but everyone deserves it.
