My Grandfather was a large man who loved fried foods. I was told he had his first heart attack at the age of 39 years old long before I was born. Then again when my older brother was little a few years before I was born he had a triple bi-pass with two 98% blockages and one 88% blockage. He passed away on the operating table but managed to pull through. He was 64 at that time. When I was ten years old he moved in with us after being diagnosed with congestive heart failure that was causing dementia. At this time he was 73 yrs old and had river put on some wait. He was 5’8” and 315 lbs. Me and my family spent years waiting on him and cleaning up after him. We finally got him down to 235 lbs. Unfortunately years of bad eating habits caught up with him and he had a stroke one early morning. My dad had found him on the bathroom floor. He was 80 years old. I was in high school and we were devastated. I had took a few days off school to help with my mom. She had a complete nervous breakdown from losing her best friend. She had me and my dad remodel his bedroom and bathroom several times till it wasn’t a reminder of him The pain continued for almost a year of watching and trying desperately to console my mom. I still managed a part time job and finished with a 3.2 gpa my senior year. It became so bad that my mother even spent a few days getting mental health in a hospital. Eventually she realized how much we cared for her and we were still here. Some heart problems are said to be hereditary but a lot of it has to be do with healthy eating and some form of physical fitness on a regular basis. The pain he caused can never be forgotten but he made it a lot longer with our consistent help with making sure he was active and ate healthy. I try vary hard to make sure I never end up in that situation. I don’t want my loved ones to suffer due to my self inflicted health problems. I also help motivate the rest of my family to due the same and visit their doctors on a regular basis. I do hope Americans as a whole will start eating healthier.

I had several physical health issues as a child that affected my ability to see, hear and speak. Which also causes balance issues which limited me to being able to do a lot of things growing up. I finally over came these issues with surgeries and treatments. Because I was more isolated at home it gave me a passion to take things apart and repair them. Such as a Bluetooth speaker, toys etc. I also spent a lot of time online gaming with friends. I was very much intrigued with mindcraft which allowed me to build and design things. As I got older and was able to start physically doing things my dad is a great carpenter and had me assist him with several projects over the years. From a complete remodel of an older home to help my grandfather prepare it to sale. Me and my dad also built an addition on our own home to make an in law suite for my grandfather to live with us. Which was a 100 square foot bathroom off our formal dining room which was converted into his bedroom. We also worked on smaller projects like building fences and bird houses. My Freshman was the year the world shutdown for Covid which included virtual classes with no one to help. I was an IEP student who was left out in the cold. My school system had over thirty teachers and counselors quit which had our curriculum broken into a mix of actual teachers virtual and online programs for some classes. This also didn’t allow me to get tutoring or the help I needed to succeed. The result was a crushing blow to my gpa. My high school transcript shows once we returned to school sophomore through senior I was an A and B student as well as presidents honor roll student in my cadd class at votech my senior year. But there was no recovering from that freshman year gpa which shows a 2.91 gpa for high school on my transcript. I also helped take care of my grandfather during my years in high school. He had moved in with us and had several major health problems including congestive heart failure and signs of dementia. He passed away the end of my senior year in our home due to a stroke after having Covid. I owe all my experiences life has given me to my passion to design and build whatever I put my mind to. I have no doubt I will enjoy a long successful careful as an engineer.
